    I don't understand why you want to make a small column larger by boxing it in with 1" boards. I'm gonna take a grinder to my metal column and paint it. Much less intrusive in the middle of my finished basement.

    A bar of soap does the trick for a temporary patch. Believe it or not it works well. Rub it across the hole like using a cheese grater. Stops the leak immediately. Then you can concentrate on permanent repairs or replacement. Epoxy resin also works very well.

    I was running this saw for about 2 hours at about a 30-50% duty cycle th-cam.com/users/postUgkxfQm1wmg0ItKDLavxj1nXtQY9HP7EF504 and it did a great job. I used the lever for the built in sharpener to clear chip buildup out more than to actually sharpen the chain. It managed to cut some hardwood stumps much larger than it's size without bothering the neighbors with hours of 2 stroke noise.

    All I can say is if you are reading this then consider yourself screwed. Just a new tank at best will cost you over $1,000 then you need transportation and labor. Then the cost to move the old tank and get rid of it. If the old one doesn't have a cement pad where you want it then cha ching more money.. I considered going to propane as it would be cheaper. Nope it will cost more. We just can't win.

    I took my catalytic out. I did prefer it running cleaner, but the heat that thing put off was a serious hazard. Good intentions, poorly executed. Make saws run scary hot in a state where wildfires are a serious problem. Otherwise, love the saw and did the same big bore mod.

    That thing might work great on a flat surface, but my leak is a pin hole on the bottom curved surface. I bought 2 of those, not being sure if there may be more than one hole. This does NOT work on the curved underbelly. Even tho those magnets are strong, they don't click down well enough for a tight seal. I will have to continue my search for another product.

    • @bungalowmo
      @bungalowmo 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@emilymarquez426 Not yet. Today I tried a couple skinny flat head nails to see if that would do it. So far it's a no. Tomorrow I'm on the search for a VERY skinny screw and some thin rubber I can use for a makeshift gasket. I tried 2 different types of those flex seal tape products (didn't hurt to try). Both failed miserably. As of right now, I have a small nail up in the hole and a 1 gal gas can with a funnel. Drip Drip Drip.

      I’m glad I read your post. Thank you for putting that cause mine happens to be kind of on a curved area not a major curve like more like the end of it heading towards flat but I see a point pretty much most of the boilers curved.

    Thanks for sharing - this helped me a lot. I tried the soft foam pipe insulation first with a 1.25" round rare-earth magnet and it worked for about 36 hours and started to drip again very slowly. We caught all the oil and noted that the drip rate increased over the next 48 hours. We replaced the foam patch with the Magic Patch and there have been no drips for a week. We did not use any adhesive and will consider that if the Magic Patch starts to drip before we replace the tank. I examined the foam patch to see why it worked initially and then failed. It appears that the reason it failed was because the pressure from the magnet completely flattened the foam over time so that it was almost paper thin and could no longer seal the leak. The Magic Patch is designed so that the magnet can only compress the foam by about 50% so that this cannot occur. Hopefully it will work for a much longer time period. Can anyone share how long the Magic Patch worked for them please? Thanks
