- This is my Dolmar /Makia DCS6421 chainsaw which I upgraded with the 85cc cylinder head kit. This saw has an incredible cutting power and the best power to weight ratio among all saws made today. Thanks for watching and please SUBSCRIBE !
I was running this saw for about 2 hours at about a 30-50% duty cycle th-cam.com/users/postUgkxfQm1wmg0ItKDLavxj1nXtQY9HP7EF504 and it did a great job. I used the lever for the built in sharpener to clear chip buildup out more than to actually sharpen the chain. It managed to cut some hardwood stumps much larger than it's size without bothering the neighbors with hours of 2 stroke noise.
Always nice when they start on the first pull!
the catalyst takes you half more hp apply the 7900 carburetor to it, remove the catalyst, make it a mod muffler
then see the difference
stays as a leisure to cut

That is a pretty saw, for sure. Catalytic converter on a chainsaw, never thought I'd see the day. LoL!

I do realise I am years to late ;-) BUT
you could additionally change the carb to the bigger version from the Dolmar 7910 AND you could change the cat exhaust to the version without, to allow more flow and more importantly less heat on the cylinder and piston.
If you are worried about the exhaust gases without cat, then either use Aspen or Motomix OR use high quality full synth oil in a mixture 1:75 or even 1:100.
No. 100:1 is asking for trouble. Run 40:1, fuck the government.

I took my catalytic out. I did prefer it running cleaner, but the heat that thing put off was a serious hazard. Good intentions, poorly executed. Make saws run scary hot in a state where wildfires are a serious problem. Otherwise, love the saw and did the same big bore mod.
dang that saw puts down more power than my 066 magnum, I like dolmar!

I bought an aftermarket 85cc cylinder and piston kit on Amazon or eBay don’t remember and upgraded the 65cc original cylinder head and piston. Make sure you find a Nikasil coated cylinder head it’s longer lasting

No, but it’s very straightforward . Take the top cover off, remove carburator, remove plastic cover from under air filter, remove spark plug . Remove 4 bolts on cylinder head.install new piston and cylinder head. Put back together with new cylinder head gasket. If your carburator was tuned do not tweak nothing on the carburator after installing the head. Same settings work perfectly fine on the upgraded cylinder head kit.
@@J0Boa Thanks, I did it a couple months ago, runs but won't idle. I tried adjusting the screws still only idles for a second or two.

@@Psy6o 5-10y ago 64cc (Makita 6400/6420) was the standard HD rental. I bought 1 of each + a moded 7900 (85cc)… all used only 1 from HD, $325 as I recall.
I think you may want to go a size bigger on the carb

I hate them ant never had a proplem from a sthil been doing tree work all my life had one with a 36 on it every time I used it had to adjust the spark plug gap it was a very nice saw thou
now this may sound silly. but theres only a couple reasons why that would happen. cheap spark plug, wrong spark plug. or your piston head had something hitting the plug. if it was opening up, the plugs were crappy. if it was closing something was hitting them
