May I ask you... 1) What is the difference between Sims2 Ultimate Collection and Sims2 Legacy, 2) What is this Sims2 starter pack you were talking about? Where can I find it? (ps: I have the official CDs so I have no idea what's going on with all these things, sorry.. : ) )

I’m not sure what I’ve done wrong, but my subhoods are completely empty. There are no lots, no sims, no decorations, nothing. Afaik, i followed the instructions to a t and installed all necessary mods. Can anyone help?

My game is running just fine. Actually better than the crashed UC that I still cant get to open. I'm not sure what's going on with everyone else. I'm super hopeful that someone can update the lot adjuster mod since the creator has passed on. That one is super big in my gameplay after I found your video on it a couple months back.

Do you have a complete mod list? I have both the Legacy Edition (I am a sucker) and the Ultimate Edition (granted this has stopped working since I purchased Legacy Edition). I want my game to be your game haha

Sims 2 Legacy Edition I am a long-time player of The Sims and The Sims 2: I still have all the original CDs in their original cases. (It takes three to four hours for me to install TS2 and all the expansion packs, with no CC.) I love The Sims 2 and haven’t been able to play it for a year now, after an unrelated hard drive crash and being unable to find my notebook and CD with the instructions and file to prevent the SecuROM issues. So I was ECSTATIC to see the Legacy editions on Steam, and bought them before I could blink. I played TS2 (completely vanilla) for a couple of hours and experienced more and unusual errors and crashes than ever before. - I had one family where, after going to a community lot, the only option to interact was Greet. And after they greeted the other Sim, once again all the could do with that Sim was Greet. This happened with every Sim on the community lot. - I had two children just disappear from the game when their mother went into labour with twins. The older kids were just gone, and the mom walked around wearing the first twin like a fanny pack, with the second twin seemingly stuck in utero. - I set up a fresh neighbourhood, loaded in Bluewater Village and all the sub-hoods, and then clicked the Family button, and it crashed and took Steam out with it. Yes, these are old games, but they are new purchases of new releases at new game pricing. We deserve better from Maxis.

One of the IKEA stuff files won't download for me. The build file is fine, but the buy file starts downloading, then times out or has an indefinite download time that increases. Idk if it's broken, or if that is temporary.

Thank you for this video, you finally pushed me to try this as I'd been debating it for awhile now! While it does perform better with less lag, and less pink flashing, i will say that i got pink flashing once in my 3 days of playing so far. So it definitely isn't going to stop it altogether but that's a whole lot better than previously for me so I'll take it! One thing I'm wondering is if Lazy Duchess' asi fix for pink soup is maybe causing problems on Linux, as I didn't remember to remove that when i ported over all my stuff. In your Linux game setup did you keep or remove that?

Ive been playing my custom neighborhood for over 10 years and I love my over 50 Families so much. Ive been playing it on an older laptop and I play it from Cd, where Ive never had pink soup, other crashes tho. It just takes ages to load and Ive cracked my screen badly. I cant get my old Neighborhood playable on my Pc because it doesnt let me install all the cds. I hoped with the old Ultimate Collection it would work, but no and also with a overworked smaller CC folder it didnt worj out an crashed all the time. I hooooope I can get it running with this version. If not then I stay on my broken Laptop xD

I always played from my Cds and I never had pink soup, ofc the normal other problems. But my new Pc does not let me, I hate it, also I hope we get bodyshop later, I really need that Program.

I played TS2L last night and a dude came into my sims house after i locked the door and just paced my sims bedroom for HOURS. I was unable to say goodbye to him or anything, so i deleted him with boolprop. (ive never had something like that happen in Ultimate Collection lol) This morning i tried to copy my downloads/neighborhoods folders from Ultimate Collection to Legacy and the game kept crashing when trying to enter CAS. I uninstalled and deleted all the TS2L files, reinstalled and added just 1 folder from my downloads, like seating (couches/beds etc). Went in game and saw no mods, enabled cc, and it said there was no custom content at all. full reinstall again + deleting the files, downloaded some default replacement eyes and skins (i thought maybe FRESH downloads would work better?) added the same seating folder again and finally the game recognized there were mods in the game, but i had NO new couches/chairs or anything that i just added to the game? it was So weird. Ill stick to Ultimate collection for now lol

I think I´ll stick to 3 and 4. I don´t really see why I should get into Sims 2 when it´s not even complete as you say.

Not gonna lie all the listed reasons for why not to get it are so minuscule if you actually like the game, as for the pink soup, it’s discouraging to say some of the things your saying if players are new, veteran players know all of this but the new ones will see this and get overwhelmed, also u don’t need mods as a new simmer with the sims 2 legacy edition, there’s so much content that you could enjoy it for at least 4 years

This video is a godsend, I will be getting it as I started out as a little boy with the Sims 2 Pets on PS2, and LOVED IT. But yeah it’s a godsend as the jump from the watered down PS2 game to the full PC version is a bit overwhelming to me, so thank you for going in such detail! Much appreciated!

I'm an existing Sims player and was also lucky to get the Ultimate Collection in Origin. When these legacy editions were released I bought them instantly because: - I don't want to open 2 launchers in my computer, Steam availability is a blessing. - Handheld compatibility / Proton support. - Money talks and buying old games should help improve support. - In my opinion, Sims 3 & 4 are lower quality when compared to the 1 & 2 versions. A shift in interest and $/content toward the old games should give EA things to reconsider. Even more when their sports division is struggling and DA: Veilguard sales failed. - If Legacy editions performs well in sales. GoG could consider adding them to their GoG program and have true digital ownership!

What default replacements do you use for hair and do you use default replacement for clothing - if so what do you use? Do you download individually or download as a set/bulk download?

This is sooooo useful!! i got so excited about the legacy thing and getting to play sims 2 again i purchased it straight away! First letdown was just trying to start the game and finding it crashed and didnt even start :'D i had to find the solution in ea forums and fix it myself, then i spent +2h making my family, their house, even the cat got a promotion at his job and suddenly CRASHED! boom, nothing saved ofc. i was so sad i paid for that i expected they would at least have solved important issues, but again, ea. Anyway i requested the refund and i downloaded the Starter Pack, everything works great by now and cant wait to explore this game after all these years with your mod recommendations 💖💖

As soon as i saw your post on Tumblr about pink soup still being an issue in the Legacy Collection i knew it wasn’t worth buying I’ll just stick with having pink soup in my UC version thank you very much! 😅

I LOVE this video. Thank you so much. It’s been over a decade since I’ve played the Sims 2 after a hard drive crash and while my memories are fond, my grasp of the details are sketchy. My old games were modded within an inch of their lives lol While I’ve sorely missed that customization, it felt far too overwhelming to jump back into from scratch. This was so informative and gives me the confidence to give it another try, rather than fantasizing about all the cool things I used to be able to do in my sims games ❤

biggest disappointment for me personally is the fact they didn't recompile the game to run in 64 bit mode. I can guarantee many of the issues and crashes people are experiencing is due to the fact that 32 bit applications just don't mix well with 64 bit operating systems

I tested a few things and managed to fix TS2 LC so that it didn't crash (of course this game DOESN'T work differently for everyone). I used my graphicsrules from a pirate TS2 UC and threw it into a TS2 LC and now it runs like a dream with 20gb CC. It's a bit strange because my pirate TS 2 UC was always crashing. (ps. I didn't use graphicsrules maker. I changed the file manually)

The whole bundle was $68 CAD I am annoyed I could not pick my Sims 4 kits( I already had the fitness one and don’t really care for the grunge) I also can’t seem to find a Directx 9 emulator to work. If I can’t start it up, I will try to get a refund. It won’t launch because it can’t find direct x9

Is anyone else having problems with The Sims 2 ultimate collection now ? | find it funny how, now that the legacy collection has been released, my ultimate collection is now crashing, when It was working perfectly before. 😭

I made the decision long ago to never give EA money and these rereleases do not change that. The price tag is downright scummy. The fans are what have kept both games alive, not EA. The fact that Sims 2 is even more unstable than it ever was, terrible.

Hopefully someone can mod body shop to work, somehow I've never seen body shop before I've played Sims since Sims 1 and spent most of my time on Sims 2 out of them all, I'm sad I somehow completely missed it, it looks awesome! I got the ultimate collection for free too but when they changed us to EA App it uninstalled Origin and my Sims 2 game and support weren't helpful at all as I didn't have a receipt cos I used the code they gave me I was so upset!
