Great tutorial! Businesses are one of the best things in the game, and it's a pity people miss out because of the learning curve. My tip for getting ranks up quickly in an entertainment venue is to set one item for sale for a really high price. Don't get a cash register, you don't actually want to sell it. Instead, spam the 'show item to' interaction and customers will have 5 loyalty stars in no time. As for restaurants, the easiest way is the run them with servos or plant sims, and you want to have as few employees as possible. If you don't use mods, one way to earn back a few simoleans is to put down the pinball machine you get from the gaming career.

I was just looking for a video like this the other day. I always loved OFB but sometimes felt a little overwhelmed not knowing how best to manage the different businesses. Thank you so much, this is perfect!
I'm sure I've watched this like 10 times already! Thank you! OFB has always been the most daunting of TS2 expansions to me and the mods have really helped ease me into it! Thank you! PS: LOVE Luke's Diner! It's brilliant!
Thank you so much! I’ve been playing OFB for the first time after years of not touching it (I tried it as a kid and it was way too stressful and confusing for me.) This helps so much.
Love the video! The one annoying customer is such a problem in Veronaville when I’ve got a Monty or a Capp running a business. Consort, stop coming to my restaurant just to complain! 😂😂
Thanks so much for this list many I had from various searches, but I appreciate you compiling a list for the community. I love the open for business and often build many types of businesses. I have never dared to try a restaurant, however I am ready now thanks to you.
Ooh yay a topic I love! I agree about home businesses, I normally don’t bother with them. Although just recently I tried a version of it I think I could like! I have a Sim who normally makes her living on Deedee’s woodworking table, I’ve always just sold the items and imagined that she was doing online sales. But I decided to open a home business for her and she just set up a couple tables on the lawn and had a sidewalk sale! I’ll probably just do it from time to time for Sims who do stuff like that, because I would like to get more Sims into making their living off the craft tables or at least as a secondary job if their spouse has an actual offsite business to supplement the income! (Edit later - just wanted to say my mods shopping cart is totally full! lol!)
Yes I've definitely done little yard sale table setups too! Another fun thing I sometimes do with an at home business is a "garage sale" where I'll have Sims sell off their old furniture for super cheap, I always get a kick out of that 😄 I know you are definitely a master of OFB already haha so thank you for checking out the video! Omg what you can access cars on community lots in wholesale mode??? That's awesome! And omg the game will actually pay back the difference if you put something for sale? I've always felt like such an idiot every time I've forgotten to toggle on wholesale mode and the game was helping me out this entire time? 😂 wow. Yes! Everyone always freaks out at me in streams when I don't put wholesale mode on, I'm like "it's okay guys, it's fine" 😅 glad you picked up a few tips!!
I always did it the regular catalogue/set for sale way and then when I noticed a wholesale toggle I totally second guessed myself if I’d been really messing up! It’s great how they’ve got it covered either way.
I don't know whether you fellow simmers do it this way, but most of the time I move newly created sims from the bin to an apartment so that the remaining amount of simoleons can be used to buy a business lot (since there are types of businesses that cannot be carried out on a residential lot - for example grocery store - not without mods ) and with this way you can start out with a more decent business lot right away when playing with new sims.
That was an amazing experience! I already knew most of the tips you talked about, but the way you did was refreshing and the mod list is top tier, I'll DEFINITELY be downloading most (if not all) of them! xD I tend not to play with mods, but these are really just QoL changes I missed having over the years of playing this masterpiece. Keep up the good work, I hope you have a great weekend 🥰
this video is great! ive been playing sims 2 rotationally for about a year now and ive tried to incorporate businesses several times but i ended up getting overwhelmed. so thank you for this breakdown and mod recs! :)
I've always had a hard time with restaurants because my sims wouldn't do what I tell them to do. For that reason I never play restaurants even if I'd love to! Looks like all these mods will make things easier for me! I'll try them out!
I feel so relieved that you said a restaurant is the hardest to run...! I have a traditional English Tea Room running in my custom hood (it's a fictional traditional English town called Whitford-upon-Avon) and it's been really tricky!
Your hood (and shop) sounds like somewhere I would like to visit!! But yes they are really hard, for 2 main reasons: 1) you need lots of employees right off the bat to get it running and they are expensive, and 2) food and drinks doesn't sell for much money 🫣 With your tea shoppe, could they maybe also have some beautiful custom teapots for sale to increase profits a little?
open for business changed the gameplay quite a lot for me. my latest game had no families at all. my main character has everything and owned the town [pleasantview] I had no mods at all. so it taught me how to run and be profitable with employees. 1 - only start a business when you re rich enough to lose thousands. 2 - sell and re-buy a couple of times, you ll notice that each time, employees cost less... the game s economics are made to play both ends, boss - employee, I tried. it s a good way to make no skills - new characters money fast. and time does nt count much if you don t go to the location itself. also, you can trick economics that way... hire the sim, give it exorbitant salary, then, close business. play as this character, at let say $400 hr salary. imagine how quickly he will get rich at that rate. the money, of course, comes from... nowhere! with 0 skills... but mood flowers from hobbies is a must for me to play businesses now. aside from energy, they fill all needs s bars... I also need an 'aspiration' lot to refresh my characters at will at no cost perpetually. buy a lot, carry all inspiration objects in your inventory, and set them on the lot. sell it back to the city. all characters can now refresh their lives, ect, perpetually. the juices from seasons is also quite some help. filling all bars, skills, badges, incredible! all characters from the city can drink them for free. also fills all aspiration to silver. just excellent stuff to me. it d be super cool to demonstrate this on your channel. good show sis.
A while ago I implemented a store in my town where everything that was for sale were craftables, but the owner wasn't the one in charge to craft the goods, he just sold them. Basically, I would "assign" a crafting task to a sim or a household in the neighborhood, and when it was their turn in the rotation, they would produce their stuff, and I would transfer them to my business owner's inventory, and they would get paid for them a % above selling price, and the owner would sell them for more.
That's definitely a great way of doing it and something I have done too 😊 in my Medieval game I have my peasants and yeomen farm and craft all kinds of things that they sell to the merchants, and the merchants sell for more. It feels super fun and authentic! Otherwise I sometimes just pretend that they have an online Etsy shop and can magically sell a certain amount of things from their inventory haha
Thanks for this video! Ive never made my own business before, there's so much things i need to do in this game! I have a custom hood and i cant wait to make all sorts of community owned businesses. This was very helpful.
Thank you for this video! I have only just started playing business more in my rotations so it was good to learn a few things and also get some more mods! 😁
I love how thorough this video is! This could make me fall in love with OFB all over again, it is just such an awesome expansion pack. And really the best one imho as a tycoon and management game addict. 😁Very informative and fun video to watch. 😊
i love this video so much i love meadow so much she's so cute & those Mods sound really good! I'm so glad theirs a mod For the uniforms bug i hate that bug so much i pretty much forget that bug in the game exists a lot it always makes me very nervous seeing it when it happens i hope this fixes it so i don't have to worry about it
The mod I linked should fix it. The first time that you set your Sim a new uniform, you will still have the face 1/no eyebrows bug, but the NEXT time they come to work, their face will be back to normal and they will be wearing their uniform 😊👍
"Restaurants are very hard to run" louder please. I decided it'd be fun to open one in my BaCC (first time ever trying), had a pair of siblings open it and for the next 6 rounds I hated it so much. The only reason I'm back at running it is cause the main owner is now married and all her 5 kids are teens now, so they are free help. Hopefully all the mods you recommended will make it less pathetic LMAO
oh also I'm fairly sure the BusinessOutfitFix mod there is of Chris Hatch, and he found out that by quickly changing the sim's skin to sth else (he used zombie skin i think) and then back immediately, the sim would have normal face again. it lags out if too many employees with uniform come at the same time for this reason.
Thanks bunches for this video! I've watched a couple of times just to freshen up before starting a family with a business. It's really inspired me to open more of them 😁 just 2 related questions: how do you sell your business to another sim? And how does the system decide which sim will get it as an inheritance? Thanks!
What I do with venues is have them sell items to rank up first and then swap to being a normal venue. How do I not have that only basic sell mod, better add that to the 2000K I already have. :D Lol meadow trying to casual woohoo in the middle of your video, typical sim. I miss playing Meadow I hope a family sim picks her as a spouse soon. Good call with hiring and losing stars, I've had that happen before and never connected the dots. 🙃 The espresso mod I gave you wasn't for obsessive coffee buying, that is only on unowned lots. On owned lots sims were hardly buying coffee at all so it ups them buying coffee. Now I can sell cakes and coffee. Before they would buy cake and ignore the coffee. Which they seem to be doing here too as no one bought coffee. I will grab your tweaked seating mod.
This is a great video! Would you be able to share your version of the lower wages mod? The linked version's wages are still higher than my career wages since I have the lower wages mod as well, so it is still high. Either way, thanks for the video. :)
Thank you for this in-depth tutorial! Do you also use Simler90’s Business Mods? If not, have you tried it in the past? I’m tempted to try it but it looks a bit overwhelming, and I fear it may conflict with other mods… maybe you know if it’s worth it :)
@@_P_a_o_l_o_ hey! Yeah I do, I have business mod update39 and I have his "Business and Bills" mod :) there are some really nice fixes in there and with how many OFB businesses I play, this one is very nice to have. The conflicts are mostly managed through load order, and frequently checking the HDCU for any unexpected conflicts but for the most part, it works well with my current mod setup!
@@_P_a_o_l_o_ it can be a bit overwhelming haha, but the main thing is to remember that it lists "potential" conflicts and many of them might not actually be conflicts, or might be managed by load order. At the very least, it's good for when you put a new mod in and then you can run it and see if that mods name pops up anywhere! - and if it does, see if a) it's actually a problem, and then b) if there's a solution 😊
@@TeaAddict That’s such a good tip, thank you so much! Also thank you so much for all your content, and for being so nice and lovely in general with everyone :)
Hey Harry, my default skins are Lilith's "honey honey" skinblend, and my default eyes are a mixture of a few sets but mostly I'm using "Moonfruit" by SFBlue at the moment :) I have a bunch of other custom skins ny Lilith, and for custom eyes, my favourite are "Crystalline V2" by dreadpirate.
Easy peasy! I'd recommend grabbing a handy old mod from SimWardrobe which is the fruit & veg packing station, so you can pack the orchard fruits into crates and sell them more efficiently 😊
if you open a restaurant with a family of sims, let's say 2 adults & 1 teen (or 3 adults if teens can't help) could you then make all your adult sims fill the positions of cook, server, and host? or does it force you to hire sims for those positions? (sorry if this exact thing was mentioned in the video - i have pretty severe adhd and cannot continuously pay thorough attention for videos longer than like 20 mins 🥲🥺)
Its okay! I need to make a video just about restaurants in particular 😅 So if you have a family restaurant and you have the extra members be host/server/whatever, that works fine unless you want to visit the restaurant lot with a different family and have them eat there. In that case, only the business owner will spawn onto the lot so the other half of the employees will be "missing" - UNLESS you use a mod called "Hire Family Members", in which case you can "hire" them as employees too ☺️ Hope that answers your question! *Makes note to make a 20 minute video about restaurants*
thank you so much!! i'm really sorry, again. i am actually rewatching the video now to pay attention to the parts i missed and have realized you have an entire restaurant section at the end - my b!! i'm a bad viewer 😭😭 i did sub tho and even tho i struggle to pay attention i don't click off so you get my full view, lol!! 💜🩵💜🩵 gonna be definitely binging your videos when i clean 🫶🏻
I'm having a hard time figuring out how to edit the numbers on the BCON file in order to lower wages for employees. Is the package file editable or do I need another software to change the numbers?
Hi, I enjoyed this video, I installed businessrunsyou and am getting the blue flash no mesh thingy, any suggestions? It works, just no clock mesh, thx in advance!
I think entertainment businesses are quite easy to run, you can make huge profit with a little pond or a chess table by shouting at people until they fish or play with you and it'll increase fun and social they'll love it 😂 It requires no business knowledge, you can just let your sim make friends all day and they'll be profitable The secret is to invite all your friends to your lot every day, unlike stores this will never "flood" your store as you have no stocks and the customers will find something to do on their own, and every day you'll make more friends which snowballs super hard
Thats probably a dumb question, but in the beginning you mentioned that you are using the "Original Business Runs You mod". I also wanna use the new mesh version of it. But you said that the required mods, mentioned on the downloads page, are not actually required and you dont use all of them. I also dont wanna add every mod of it, if i dont have to. So can you might tell me which of these mods you have and of course i should also get for the mod to run? 😇
Not a silly question! The re-meshed clock version I use, is linked for download in the video description 😊 all it does is change the appearance of the object and that's it, otherwise it's still the original mod. I honestly don't think I have any of the "required mods" haha - definitely not macrotastics, I downloaded that once and it actually broke the mod lol. So try just grabbing the clock and see how you go!

Hi! I've installed your recommended mods for the restaurant but I have a problem: my chef runs around taking orders and sitting people at the table instead of doing his job. Same goes for the waiter, who sits people at the table too. This is a mess cause many of my customers don't get their food. What did I do wrong? :(
@@TRamp94 hiya, could be due to a number of things. First thing that comes to mind is do you have the macrotastics mod installed? I find that overwrites job assignments, I play without it. If you definitely assigned the employees, is this happening when you're playing as the business owner, when you're visiting the lot with other Sims, or both? Are you reassigning them using the business runs you controller and does that fix it?
@@TeaAddict Yes, I do play with macrostatics and I also thought that was the problem (because they RUN when they do those tasks) but I didn't know for sure. As for the problem, it happens in both cases. And when I click on the clock, the sims are assigned properly so I can't really reassign them. Do you think it's the macrostatics mod?
What does ZQC feature from Business Controller: Business Runs You do? I can't find anything on it since the original post is just full of memes about the Soviet union.
@@DiegoSanstwen I don't know what ZQC is meant to stand for lol but it is supposed to be a feature related to wages - if you set wage to equal ZQC then it is supposed to pay the employee exactly their worth based on an "average" wage, so they should be completely satisfied with their wage as though you manually choose their wage and set it to average. +- percentages will give them slightly more or slightly less. I've had limited success using the feature, I think because I have so many other mods that affect wage calculatio, but it can be handy to give an employee a quick pay rise in a pinch when your Sim is busy and can't get to their employee in time to give them a pay rise before the employee quits 😅
@@SayaSiapa992 you need to download the version that will work with your game. I'm not sure what version of The Sims 2 you're running so you'll need to pick the version for your latest expansion pack 👍 It also depends if you use the hospitals mod by Chris Hatch. If you have all of the packs or the Ultimate Collection, but you don't use the Hospitals mod, then you need to download VisitOtherSimsAL + and WalkToOtherSimsAL+

But yes they are really hard, for 2 main reasons: 1) you need lots of employees right off the bat to get it running and they are expensive, and 2) food and drinks doesn't sell for much money 🫣
With your tea shoppe, could they maybe also have some beautiful custom teapots for sale to increase profits a little?
@@TeaAddict That sounds like a lovely idea! I’ll see if I can make it work :)
open for business changed the gameplay quite a lot for me.
my latest game had no families at all.
my main character has everything and owned the town [pleasantview]
I had no mods at all.
so it taught me how to run and be profitable with employees.
OMG, thank so much for this video!!! I didn't have any of this mods and I NEED the Lower Wages for Employees!!!
I love that you kept this thumbnail lol
Thanks for this video! Ive never made my own business before, there's so much things i need to do in this game! I have a custom hood and i cant wait to make all sorts of community owned businesses. This was very helpful.
This helps soooo much!!! Thank you I’ve learned a lot of new information!!!
Just came to say this thumbnail is everything Beth 😂💀 allllll the gold stars go to you, excellent work, thanks for the laugh!
Omg those employee mods are so useful
Business Owner Assigner has a version 2 where it lets you assign family members as well
OMG this is EXACTLY WHAT I NEED
That's a neat trick I'm going to steal about having the ticket machine on a restaurant lot!
i love this video so much i love meadow so much she's so cute & those Mods sound really good! I'm so glad theirs a
mod For the uniforms bug i hate that bug so much i pretty much forget that bug in the game exists a lot it always makes
me very nervous seeing it when it happens i hope this fixes it so i don't have to worry about it
The mod I linked should fix it. The first time that you set your Sim a new uniform, you will still have the face 1/no eyebrows bug, but the NEXT time they come to work, their face will be back to normal and they will be wearing their uniform 😊👍
This was a great video - I've been playing with businesses a lot more recently and this was so helpful!!
Love the thumbnail
oh also I'm fairly sure the BusinessOutfitFix mod there is of Chris Hatch, and he found out that by quickly changing the sim's skin to sth else (he used zombie skin i think) and then back immediately, the sim would have normal face again. it lags out if too many employees with uniform come at the same time for this reason.
@@teochau classic Chris Hatch 😅 sneaky mod drop probably buried somewhere in an old MTS thread...
Omg how did I not know about wholesale mode!!!!
Thanks bunches for this video! I've watched a couple of times just to freshen up before starting a family with a business. It's really inspired me to open more of them 😁 just 2 related questions: how do you sell your business to another sim? And how does the system decide which sim will get it as an inheritance? Thanks!
Great video thank you so much
Amazing video, going on a download spree
How do you hire your family member cause it's not in hire employe list on phone

@@TeaAddict I figured it out that's a lot :)
Thanks for this tutorial! It'll be so helpfull once I get to play the sims a little bit more often again 😉 #momlife😂
Thank you for the amazing video and tips Beth! Was just wondering where the cluedo tabletop was from?
Hi Taylia 😊I have a couple of custom tabletop games, from here sims2.aroundthesims3.com/objects/special_advent_2015.html
@@TeaAddict thank you so much ❤️ putting these in my game asap
What I do with venues is have them sell items to rank up first and then swap to being a normal venue.
How do I not have that only basic sell mod, better add that to the 2000K I already have. :D
Lol meadow trying to casual woohoo in the middle of your video, typical sim. I miss playing Meadow I hope a family sim picks her as a spouse soon.
Good call with hiring and losing stars, I've had that happen before and never connected the dots. 🙃
The espresso mod I gave you wasn't for obsessive coffee buying, that is only on unowned lots.
Great video - Thank You :)
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed ☺️
Oh wow thank you so much, I will then try those mods! And also hopefully learn how to use the HCDU, it looks soooo daunting 🙈
OMG YESSSSS, finally! ❤❤
Thank you!
Fab video 🤩 What custom skin and eyes do you use? 😊
How difficult would it be to have a home lot with a fruit tree orchard for selling fruits, either as a home business or on a community lot?
Its okay! I need to make a video just about restaurants in particular 😅
So if you have a family restaurant and you have the extra members be host/server/whatever, that works fine unless you want to visit the restaurant lot with a different family and have them eat there.
In that case, only the business owner will spawn onto the lot so the other half of the employees will be "missing" - UNLESS you use a mod called "Hire Family Members", in which case you can "hire" them as employees too ☺️
Hope that answers your question!
Thanks!
I'm having a hard time figuring out how to edit the numbers on the BCON file in order to lower wages for employees. Is the package file editable or do I need another software to change the numbers?
Do you have SimPE?
@@TeaAddict I don't 🙃 I'm gonna download it. 😅 I see it's a package editor
Do you use the Time Sync mod for Community lots? I was waiting for it at 31:05 but you went instantly to the next day! 😅😅
Yes I use Community Lot Time 😊
Hi, I enjoyed this video, I installed businessrunsyou and am getting the blue flash no mesh thingy, any suggestions? It works, just no clock mesh, thx in advance!
That's very strange as the clock is repo'd to a Maxis Mesh. You're not somehow missing the Maxis Fighting Llama wall clock are you?
@@TeaAddict I think that's the problem, one of the only dlc I dont have (yet) is freetime, that would explain it correct? Btw thx for responding!
I think entertainment businesses are quite easy to run, you can make huge profit with a little pond or a chess table by shouting at people until they fish or play with you and it'll increase fun and social they'll love it 😂
It requires no business knowledge, you can just let your sim make friends all day and they'll be profitable
The secret is to invite all your friends to your lot every day, unlike stores this will never "flood" your store as you have no stocks and the customers will find something to do on their own, and every day you'll make more friends which snowballs super hard
@@TeaAddict thanks for responding!
How did you set the wage value under 10Simoleon I dont know how in hexadecimal
Don't use the hexadecimal box, use the decimal box 👍🏼
Hi I have got a problem for Sims 2 Ultimate Collection. Few days ago I started the game and I didn't even save anything but today it's not working I got some error on screen. Game didn't start just EA launch opened and I tried start on launch but it didn't work. Sims 2 just in EA games launcher Origin isn't usefull anymore but I couldn't find config file and other things can you help about that what can I do?🙏🏻 It's not working I got some error on EA Games Launch screen "you can double click on game tiles to quickly launch a game" Please can you help me?🙏🏻
I recommend you Google search the error message you're getting and see if anyone else has had the same problem and has fixed it. Whenever you have a problem with the Sims 2, step 1 is to Google it
@@TeaAddict I've already searched this error code on Google, Reddit and TH-cam first but I haven't been able to find a response that works or many people who have the same problem with this situation. Since you can still play the game now, I thought that you may have experienced this problem and know the solution to the problem, and I asked you.
@@MimarellaNyx try right clicking the game in the EA app and selecting "repair"? Otherwise you might have to reinstall. I'm really not going to be able to help much from here without more information about exactly what error message you're getting or screenshots of what's happening sorry x
@@TeaAddict For the Sims 2 game, the repair option did not appear in the EA Games Launcher, I deleted and reinstalled EA games, and even said to repair the Launcher. I can send a screenshot, not much happens, I don't have the computer with me right now, but I took a video, I can throw it. I can look at it again when I get home. And thanks x
@@TRamp94 yes, sadly I had that happen to me when I had macrotastics installed.
@@TeaAddict Oh, I'm glad you were able to find the culprit! ehehe! Thank you so much!!
@@TeaAddict Hi Tea! Just wanted to tell you that by removing the mactotastics everything works perfectly!! Thank you again! You're always so helpful!
hi, i would like to ask where did u get that cluedo board?
@@teochau ATS2 :)
@@TeaAddict Thank you so much!

What's mod can visit sim?
Google "Sims 2 Visit Sims" mod 🙂
@@TeaAddict can you give a link for download that mod 😂
@@SayaSiapa992 simfileshare.net/folder/22503/
@@TeaAddictWow, thank you very much, but should I download all of them or just some of them?
@@SayaSiapa992 you need to download the version that will work with your game. I'm not sure what version of The Sims 2 you're running so you'll need to pick the version for your latest expansion pack 👍
It also depends if you use the hospitals mod by Chris Hatch. If you have all of the packs or the Ultimate Collection, but you don't use the Hospitals mod, then you need to download VisitOtherSimsAL + and WalkToOtherSimsAL+
You can actually get down to level -5, you do that by killing sims on your business lot 😂
Hahaha, can't say I've ever tried doing that but good to know!!
Ur sims look weird
