- Hi everyone, and welcome back to the Rim with our Pleasantview task force! Today we work on base expansion, questing, and most of all, not starving 😅 - And, I make more costly mistakes, as you will see.
Hope you enjoy, thank you for watching!

Omg Don lurking in the room with Alex and Lucy was just too funny - it seems the solitude is getting to him. No wonder he had a complete meltdown at the end of the episode 😂 It’s a lot of fun seeing the base come together and how things are slowly improving, and also how it all connects with other parts of the map. It’s surprisingly easy to travel, so that was cool to see. As for the quest, I think it’s too risky at this stage. Perhaps if the harvest hadn’t failed it would be a different story. I would DEFINITELY love to see a wedding machinima scene next time though, that would be really cute 🥰
I'm a month late to this episode, but I learned a great (cheesy) way to protect cooler units from being attacked by raiders (b/c that's how they often break into my buildings). You can build an internal chimney of course -- a small enclosed room with no roof, and vent the coolers into the chimney. But every doorway itself actually counts as a separate room (hat tip to AdamVsEverythiing), so your smallest chimney is a door with a cooler attached to it (red exhaust square placed directly on the door). That's all!
No unroofing required, door can work closed or held open, and up to 3 coolers can be attached this way. One side of the door needs to not have a cooler, but apparently it CAN sit flush against a solid wall.
Now I can just throw these into the corner of any room, or even place the door and hold it open behind a normal entry/exit door, with 2 coolers. Then in case of raid, close the cooler door for a double door defense.
I know, I know, we're not here to min-max. XD
@@dakaodo I usually do internal chimneys too! - sometimes I will have a vent that I can open and close to heat nearby rooms as well :)
Haha thank you for your comments, I haven't had a chance to properly sit down and read the one you left on episode 1 yet but I will do that soon! ❤️
Pass on the heatwave. You're not ready for it.
Agree!
Lmao so ominous
I don’t think the heat wave would be a good idea, it will probably kill all of your crops which won’t help the food situation. If you do take it though, personally I would go for the leg and the book to increase colonist productivity. You do also have some time to see if summer gets any hotter too though.
There’s always so many things to consider!🤯 Awesome to see how you handle things and how things are developing. Excited about the idea of a wedding machinima 👏
I actually like your story-telling approach to choosing roles and such for your "sims" 🙂 I mostly go purely based on stats. Because the moral guide has higher expectations than everybody else, ideally I'd have picked someone with some benefits to their mood, so they don't constantly mental break. But from a purely story-telling point of view, Lucy makes sense.
Also, mod recommendation: Dubs Mint Minimap. Puts a little map in the top right corner, where you can see where everybody is. Very handy when you're getting raided, to see all attackers on the map at a glance 🙂
Oh that mod sounds great, I will look into that x
And thank you! Even when I'm not playing Rimworld with "Sims" characters I am still always trying to base decisions partly on traits and storylines as well as stats - I guess I am a simmer at heart 😅
Probably a no on the heatwave, it's way too risky considering it will harm the crops and the animals will most likely leave the tile too 🤔 But anyway, great video! I found you with the first episode of this series and I'm loving it so far! You have the same vibe as Pete Complete, it's really soothing and calm with some funny moments sprinkled in😹
Oh gosh high praise!! Thank you so much! And yes the cost to our crops would probably not be good, I agree
Hunting everything is going to be the name of the game, I think. And you can use the leather for clothes and maybe profit
can't wait for the next episode! heatwave will definitely be a problem, there's not enough coolers for how big the rooms are, so i don't think they will be able to cool the building down efficiently. And also working in the fields will be a problem too, and you need food asap. So it's a pass from me!
When you have time/resources it might be good to put a wall between the batteries so they can’t blow each other up
I think stone doors give better entity containment. Plus you need the wood lol. Those doors can open slowly, you only research entities every few days.
Loving this series❤
There's no need for hydroponics. Rice in best soil, potatoes in stony soil, farm 4 times larger. Never go hungry again.
Did you set Cassie's priority for hauling higher than harvesting, maybe? That would explain her running home like a lunatic every time she managed to get a potatoe out of the ground 🙂
Good shout! I'll have to check that
next time a blight happens you can disable sowing so they only cut the plants. im scared about the heatwave since food crops are so low 😭 but idk that bionic leg could come in handy 😖
Yeah I disabled sowing on the plants about halfway through trying to cut the blight back haha, silly pawns kept trying to replant the crops before we were ready!!
I think the bionic leg would be good to have too, but there might be other opportunities to get one ☺️
Meditating has nothing to do with neural heat. That will get down on its own. Like you said, meditation is purely to increase psyfocus, which you then spend on the psycasts. Also, I don't think that meditation spot in that location is going to work for Alex. He can meditate on it, but in order to increase his psyfocus at any sufficient rate, a meditation spot needs something closeby for your pawns to focus on (e.g. if you have an artistic meditation focus, you'll need a statue closeby, if you're morbid, it works best close to a grave, etc). Only if you're ascetic a simple wall will do. If you ignore his meditation focus type, he'll be meditating nearly all day to keep his psyfocus at the desired level. You need to check what Alex's focus type is by clicking the „i“ button. Best would be a throne, if the dignified focus is already unlocked.
Thanks for the tips! I will check on that x
Yeah I think the only solution for neural heat is either neural heat dump or just wait it out.
It might be worth it to go into their food restrictions and tell them that raw food (raw meats, raw vegetables, etc) are not to eat so they wont do it autonomously.
