Even though it's been 2 decades The Sims 2 community is so good. I've never quite seen another franchise that has had this much longevity just through their CC creators and modders.

Thank you so, so much for this video! I was able to use the SimPE trick to fix a few objects that I could not, for the life of me, figure out how to fix! The downloads pages they came from (separate creators) did not mention that certain other meshes/recolors were referenced for the items. This is such a great tip! :)
This was an excellent tutorial!!! I've been having some issues with the shadow of a curtain and some winter textures flashing blue, but with this SimPE trick I can hopefully get futher to the truth ❤ Thank you so much for making this, Beth 🥰

I never knew you could check SimPE to see what something is slaved too. I've had a bookcase that has blue in the thumbnail for ages, so I think I'll give this a go to see if I can fix it. 😊

You're welcome! Yeah I definitely used to give up too easily looking for older content but the longer I've been around, the more I've learned about backups and WCIFs and "internet sleuthing" - the Sims 2 community is pretty amazing with helping each other out with old backups!

Hi Tea! Could you please tell me about the mod TS3 traits for TS2? Do they affect how sims behave? I've seen a post that says that the mod has lots of incompatibilities with other mods, but I also read a post that says that the traits are just "objects". I think I saw you use this mod, so would you please make a video about it?
Such a great tutorial, lots of excellent tips in here. Also was just kinda inspiring for me, you make CC browsing seem like an enjoyable breeze so it helps reprogram my brain from thinking its an overwhelming chore. Unfortunately this has left me no closer to a blue flashing issue that has been stumping me for some time. I have iCad's recolours the Maxis Midbiscus tree and the Babbling Bougainvillea shrub and these recolors annoyingly flash blue only in snowy weather and only in live mode! So clearly they're missing some sort of snowy/winter texture information but I have no idea what to do about it, I'd be surprised if they were created pre-seasons and nothing on the downloads page indicates that I'm missing anything and I've not even seen anyone reporting the problem. I don't suppose you have any ideas? No worries if not, thank you😊💕
I have these too! And yes, it means they are missing a winter texture - this can happen with plants, I've seen it a few times. Let me chase up in my downloads folder today and see if I've got an updated version of them 😊
Do you use any add-ons for these plants that flash blue? Or just the standard Maxis ones?
@@TeaAddict aw thank you! I do have a large babbling bougainvillea by TheNinthWave, I’m not sure if they have the same problem actually but I don’t think they do, could be wrong, don’t think I have any addons of the midbiscus
@@BellaDovah from what I can see it doesn't look like those tree & plant recolours were ever properly updated for winter 😥I might put some requests out in some places to see if anyone would like to fix them up!

Wait. So if the item works in game, just the catalogue is blue I just need to click the icon to reset it?
Cntrl right click to try to reset the thumbnail and see if that helps :) it doesn't always but it might!
Hi there! I have one particular CC question I have never had find the solution for. Maybe you can help, it would make my day!
So sometimes when I download CC, it can be anything from hair to furniture textures or meshes, walls or floors or clothings, I assume when they are high poly, they will not show up in my game. When I go to my downloads folder, I see the file size changed from its original to 96 MB or 1 KB. I use this as the sign: oh so my game can't load this CC download, I will never be able to use it.
Is this true? Is there a way I could potentially fix it?

Forexamle simsco's 4t2 High School Years Beds; applewatersugar's 4t2 Female Long Coat Incheon Arrivals; rudhira's default replacement 4t2 EP12 Sweater Shirt for TFBODYTECH; thimblesims' conversion of the Simmer Down Kitchen, everything works except the Barstool -
although these are all TS4 conversions, I have no idea if it is just a coincidence?
Interesting! But I have an issue with some lots that install via clean installer where whenever I click on windows/doors in build mode, the game crashes immediately! I don't know what causes that and it's not just a one off thing, it has happened to me with mostly lots that I got from modthesims or thesimsresource, but also from a couple of lots that were built and sent to me by friends and I can't figure out what the cause is.
Now I do have a TON of CC and mods that I have collected over the last 17 and I know that it all runs perfectly in my game. I get random crashes at times, who doesn't, but this issue with the installed lots is bewildering...I have the most updated version of clean installer which far as I can tell was 2014 and I can install lots that I built and packaged myself with no issues...any idea what the problem is?
Hi! - Yeah this could definitely still be the missing master mesh issue - if not, it's probably a case of some broken CC.
If you want to have the windows & doors in your game (and you're pretty sure they're not broken), try looking inside clean installer or inside your downloads folder for the CC windows & doors (do a text search for "window" maybe), and try to pick up the item name & creator name so that you can then follow the Googling steps to chase up your missing master mesh. Or you could open the files in SimPE and follow Advanced Mode.
If they're still crashing even with the master installed, I'd call broken CC and delete!
@@TeaAddict The only way I have ever been able to fix this issue when it has happened is to completely restart my game, the last time it happened, not even my backup was able to save it and I had made the backup BEFORE I installed the lot!
@@TeaAddict What I mean by crashing when clicking windows and doors in build mode isn't a specific set of them, it crashes when I click the icon for those items
@@TMP200000after you restart the game what happens? Does it work? Or do you need to uninstall the lots or some of the CC?
I"m wondering if your game just needs it's cache files cleaned, OR you might be hitting the object limit depending on exactly how much CC we're talking about haha. Do any other categories cause an instant crash? Or JUST windows and doors? (If just windows and doors, chances are that the problem still lies within that category)
@@TeaAddict This particular problem is instant crashing the moment I click the windows/doors icon. I reset the game to default basically, but I am able to put all of my CC & mods back in and everything works perfectly fine so yeah I'm stumped 🤔
How to fix blue flashing celling?
Just repaint the ceiling with a different floor tile; it usually just means that whatever the ceiling was painted with is missing from your game 😊
