OG MW2 was the golden era for video gaming.

If you had to pick one ti use for the rest of your days? Kind of silly saying most of them are great.

I will say this I still feel that the slim is the better looking system with the super slim being the worst looking of the three, what does super slim has certainly grown on me now that I own one that was given to me

At the time when the PS3 originally released a new Blu-ray player was about $800-$1000 compared to the PS3 at $600. In fact the Blu-ray player that was built into the PS3 was what justified the 600.00 price tag to most people at the time. Hgtv's were just coming around and everything was being compared to 720 and 1080p, and to be able to upgrade that majorly to a new Blu-ray player from a DVD player and be able to get the next generation gaming system all-in-one setup is what appeased to everybody. You have to remember at that time the Xbox 360 had an entire year ahead of the PS3 on release basically, they didn't have a built-in Blu-ray what they had was an additional add on that you had to buy which was HD-DVD, and nobody wanted to have to buy an additional drive play HD DVD discs. At that point people still hadn't forgotten about the betamax/vhs wars that happened in the 80s and we didn't even want to have to deal with that s***. PlayStation 3 certainly had a slow start at the beginning but they sure as s*** took it towards the end. I don't think it happened to be enough to win that generation of console wars but the system has sure as s*** aged better. Especially with the ability to be able to not have a proprietary hard disk drive and being able to upgrade it to an SSD.

Still remember when I went and got my first PS3 cuz I had a couple of them, I got every game that had been released what's the newest games to have been released at that time were Force unleashed and mortal Kombat versus DC, I got the remote and another controller and the exact total cost me $1,001 no cents I paid cash and walked out of Best buy with a huge bag feeling like a champ. The irony behind my PS3 adventure is that I got the first gen backwards compatible fat version and then that one died, had to transition over to a slim which ironically was lost because my ex-girlfriend took it for her son, and now I have a super slim which ironically was given to me by a buddy of mine who had to but didn't play video games and he decided to just keep one and give me one we had no idea if it worked it was full of wax and all other s*** but I cleaned it up and it works perfect. I even slapped in a 2 terabyte SSD and it was worth it

I still use my modded ps vita today it holds up well after 5 years of play

Nintendo Gaycube was the last "normal" console Nintendo made. Everything since has been weird, goofy gimmicks and nonsense. Even the Pbox was weird because it was, you know, purple, had a lunch box handle, was designed around the form factor with seemingly no concern to internals, had the tiny discs with limited capacity, modem and WiFi needed to be bought as an add on, and that controller with the gated/angled stick was bizarre. I'm a big time hater of the N Word and will take any opportunity to make fun of them.

People forget that Blu-ray players were ridiculously expensive at that time as well. If you count that in, the PlayStation 3 was well worth the money, as the bluray player on the console was one of the best.

Im 20 and i didnt even really play ps2 too much as a child but my aunt always had one ans i always played gta and sly cooper and like 3 years ago i bought a ps2 slim at a pawnshop for like 60 bucks and ive slowly been getting games i remember playing or wanted to play and ive literally got every game i wanted besides the exoensive ones like scar face and simpsons hit and run amd yes i know theres emulation now, but i like the nostalgia of popping in a disc 😂

PS1 and PS2 have the best game libraries of any console. I say this as a Nintendo fanboy. Those consoles just have so many more great games than (insert console here). For the slow ones ready to comment "quality over quanity", notice I said GREAT games in my previous sentence. Anyway, say what you want. ✌🏾

I recently installed an SSD in my PS4 Pro and got rid of the laptop-grade stock 5400rpm HDD. It made the whole system run faster and in general it feels more responsive. Also, open world games (the PS4 has many of them) load a lot quicker and asset steaming issues that caused stutters previously are now completely absent. All I'm saying is that with SSD replacement, the PS4 is more than capable and still very relevant.

I had already decided to not upgrade to next gens anymore before PS5 had any signs of failing. I mean, I'm a dad of 2 kids now and I have decided PS4 and Switch are the last consoles that I can consider part of my youth. So I won't be upgrading to newer gens. (at least not for me) Don't get me wrong: I'm not planning on abandoning gaming anytime soon. But I am going to stick to retrogames up to PS4 and Switch. There are so many games I haven't played that I'm sure I'll be entertained for the rest of my life. But now it turns out that a lot of games keep coming out for PS4 and Switch and the new gens are actually failing to some extent. So I kinda feel justified in my decision. That being said, I think another reason is that the PS4 gen was finally a point at which people consider the graphics good enough. PS5 games look better, but it's all diminishing returns. On top of that games are more expensive and take longer to get developed. I think a lot of us wouldn't mind if studios stopped focusing on graphics and just stick to the PS4 graphical standards if that translated into more original and/or cheaper games that are also easier to make. Focus on the gameplay and story instead of the eyecandy.

I think the vita and wii u failures were because fans didn't want to buy the same games in different places anymore, like the gameboy and gamegear days. Nintendo brilliantly combined their markets into one, while Sony had no choice but to move away from handheld

Also, yes, people do not realize how insanely good PS4 console & catalogue is. Some couple of years from now people will realize how PS4 is pretty much the second coming of PS2.

I had the same experience as you did but it's with the ps2. My Game Cube was just collecting dust then and now.

If you haven't played them, I would recommend The Darkness 1 and 2. They were on PS3 and 360. If you have a Xbox One or Series console they are on the store to buy. The PS3 and 360 is my favorite era ever. I used to think the PS2 and OG Xbox was my favorite but lately I find myself craving the 7th gen. I love collecting for those two systems, especially if the 360 game is on the Backwards Compatible list.

Unpopular opinion: Unless you're a huge JRPG fan, the OG Xbox was better than the PS2. Since it was much more powerful, pretty much every game that was cross platform (most of the best games from that gen were) performed better, with higher resolutions and/or better framerates.

PS3 is my favorite console.

XBOX? I hear a lot of americans and brits talk about it, but the other 94% of the world population never heard of it to be honest.

My favorites are PS3, 360, Gamecube, PS2, PSX, Dreamcast, NES, and honestly the Wii U. Wii U had amazing games but now they are on Switch so there's no reason to buy one.

I think the pandemic is the reason for the massive rise of price. Pretty much any collecting hobby has been ruined because of that. It also doesn’t help that game stores have bottom prices, meaning, no matter how obscure it is it’s no less than X price.
