We friend and I baked ours about 4 times in a toaster oven to be ablento play, until the arcade slim came out. We built PCs , so it was a reach but not uncommon for us to do.

Eventually I just left it apart with a 120mm fan on it from my PC building stash. I instantly bought a slim arcade when it released and swapped in my HD. No issues after that.

My mates and I made a new mould instead of the case, so it would reduce the overheating, we gave it maximum effort. I started replacing the thermal past on all the broken ones and sold em all for like £60. The exbox 360 was still easier to try and fix compared to my ps3 slim with the yellow flashes, but tbf it was only 1 that failed, not 5
The xbox 360 with live was a generational change in video games history. Now we might not it back since it's dead. 😢 I bought some xbox 360 games such as mw2, cod 4, mw3, halo 3 and 4, and that's about it. I traded mine in for a slim since the launch version didn't have HDMI, but it worked fine. I still have my slim and it works fine. I'm like you, never personally had a 360 Red Ring.
I met some awesome people on Xbox Live and made so many memories playing games like Modern Warfare 2, Turok, and Skyrim. Halo 4 was the first game I ever pre-ordered with my own money. Thanks for making this video, Kevin!

We won't ever see another rendition of 7th gen consoles. That generation was ALIVE! It felt organic. Storefront was immense, online was DENSE and games were perfect. CoD was amazing and the banter, while absurd, was amazing. It'll never be the same. I was a PS3 guy (love the multimedia options) but as a whole, Id go back in heartbeat
STILL regulalry play my 360, PS3 and Wii. More so than my Wii U, Switch and Series X. My son, one of my brothers & our sister. Plus one or two friends and I all get together and do game sessions in person, LAN party/system link to play Gears Of War 3 horde mode, Left 4 dead, COD's, Halo etc..and order a bunch of pizza, breadsticks and stuff. Soooo fun still!! Also, I wish Xbox controllers of today had the material/built quality of the 360 controller. Plus, the twisty d-pad!!
The greatest console ever in terms of multiplayer and online gaming! And third party games ran better on it also. I grew up with the PS3, but I've always been a fan of the 360

I still have my og xbox and just got into PC gaming, I actually didn't even care about the 360 but all the guys at work wanted to play mw2, so we all got one and played together until black ops 2. That's most of my 360 experience. That and Halo campaign and baking my rrod launch a few times to get it to work before getting a slim...that still works fine. . Currently just picked up a Second slim for $10 and have a stack of 360 games , that each were basically free

I remember the November summer updates….Microsoft always delivered major upgrades to the Xbox 360 OS, that doesn’t happen anymore…. I guess it just paved the way to the state that modern gaming is in….. The Xbox 360 is still my favourite console.
This is why the people 100% depending on digital media is terrifying. Once such a service shuts down (even after 19 years like the Xbox 360), anything exclusive on a digital platform is lost forever. I wish everything was on the disc on Xbox 360 because we still lost many games and DLCs forever
The Star Wars Kinect and Modern Warfare 3 special edition Xbox 360s were awesome. They had cool sounds and also were very nice looking. If the worst of my issues with this generation of games was I wanted more, and some input lag, then I think that’s ok. The heavier controls are something you eventually get used to. But I’m glad to have been part of it. Great gen.
Kinect rencor smashing through stormtroopers is one of the best 360 moments for me. I still keep my kinect out for it. I wish they would of pursued the kinect more. It was always a great argument against being a lazy couch gamer...the whole family could play also.
The good thing is that AT LEAST, we'll be able to buy 360 games and their DLCs from the later Xbox One and Series and download them from the 360, even though that's only the backwards compatible ones that's still a good chunk
The year was 2007 and I was playing a sweaty match of Team Fortress 2 from the Orange on the Xbox 360 and my team was winning and then, my Xbox red ringed all of a sudden. I was able to send it back to Xbox for a RMA, I then get my Xbox back and I’m playing orange box and my Xbox red ringed again! I then get another Xbox 360 and it still works to this day. I have an inside joke that the Orange Box would red ring anything. It’s very sad to see the Xbox store closing soon. Cool video

The XB360 was so great that it made me switch sides. I was always a PS fanboy that purchased the PS1, PS2 and PS3 at launch. Then when the XB360 Slim got released, I purchased the Kinect bundle so my young daughter at the time could play it. Ended up buying a tonne of games for it. Now I’ve got 420 XB360 games with no shovelware. Best library ever!

I had the OG model, then got a Slim. Much better system, imo.
I’m 20 and from 2010-2016 when I got my Xbox one, the 360 S was my primary console. Luckily it’s still in my house, it’s just unfortunate that I wasn’t able to add a bunch of games to my library before the marketplace shutdown. That probably means I’ll just have to get it modded lol.
This week I have been making sure every game is fully updated on the system via xblive and making sure my favs still work with DLC offline... I then notice something! Offline the clock doesn't keep the true time if you don't adjust it, but then noticed when changing the clock to the real time the built-in calendar runs out on the last day of the year in 2025, wft!!! 😮 Possibly why the 360 store is being taken down, or they sneakly updated the 360 so the calendar would run out next year which is BS for a modern console. My XB360 is (PAL) and fully updated to Microsoft's standards as of this month via xbox live, July 2024.

I don’t have a 360 anymore, but I did keep my hard drive makes me wanna buy another 360 pop in my old hard drive and see what’s on it also I remember getting red ring of death. They did send you a box and it was free for them to fix. The Xbox was gone for about a week.
As sad as it is, all good things must come to an end. The Xbox 360 is truly the greatest console of all time. Still use my 360 very frequently, and as a collector of physical games it's nice to at least see more attention being brought to the necessity of them with this store closing down. Sucks that the digital exclusive releases will cease to exist outside of RGH's and accounts with them purchased.
Man, I have one of the most mint looking Xbox 360 slims. Haven’t used it in like 8-10 years and tried to fire it up to red light of death lol. Xbox 360 generation going out with a big stinky popcorn fart for me. Really wanted to get some cheap games on the digital store, oh well.
Watch some videos on replacing the thermal paste, I fixed my 360s red ring by doing that, If that doesn't work take it to a PC repair shop and ask them to inspect the Capacitors.
Yep, I have been buying up X360 physical games of late and mainly in preference to the PS3 given that the games are backward compatible so I can play most of them on my Series X (which seems for me, to be its only use)
I'll tell you one thing: I went through 2 Xbox 360s. During this current generation, I have been through 4 PS5 controllers due to stick drift. I still have a PS2, 2 memory cards, and 3 controllers. Not a single issue. Not one. They just don't make 'em like they used to.
The disk reader on my OG PS2 is starting to go bad, but its been 2 decades! And my PS2 controllers are in great condition in spite of the use they have gotten
I inherited my lil cousins 360 and its the best hand me down ive ever gotten in the past 2 years ive been stacking a great collection ive got about 25 games i dont think ive spent more then $20 for a game usually around 10-15 it was one of tge beat times for gaming and will be hard to bring back in this age of live service and micro transactions
The problem was the original came with a svideo cable and later introduced hdmi with no changes to the cooling etc when the system was pushing better resolutions it was cooking
And until know the last succesful console Micro has/had is the X360. I also bought a X360 a few months ago, and love it. Many good games are only aviable on X360/Ps3 like the Skate series, first Bad Company, Army of 2, Fable series. We had awesome franchises starting back then: Mass effect, Bioshock, Halo, Gears, Red Dead Redemption, Arkham games, Bully scoholarship edition. Overall I think we had much better quality games in 7th gen than we have now.
The physical age had to release in a great state. Patches and updates were not available or as common at the time of early 360 ps3 era. But once they knew they could rush it out to meet demands of customers and investors the passion was killed by greed.
Tell you what : The controller that came with my Xbox One Series S, broke down faster than my 360 controller. I play lots of different games with the 360 controller. Until I can push myself to buy a new one, this is sort of an experiment to see how long it will last.
I gave up on the 360 after the red ring of death and everyone around me had the same thing, they made those systems like shite. When you could keep the system running, there was a crazy amount of great games, some hidden rpg gems.
I wish somebody on youtube actually used the 360 and made a video talking about how the 360 marketplace was already long dead with all of the best 360 games delisted years ago and what was closed down the other day was just a shadow of what the 360 marketplace once was but instead literally everyone is doing this "its such a sad day" bullshit like the 360 store wasnt dog shit for years already.
Funny enough preservation of physical media is kinda pointless because the discs themselves have a finite amount of time before they start to degrade and become unusable. Digital preservation is the future but the companies just don’t want us to keep our games

I went through 4 white xbox's in 2 years. Finally the 5th time they sent me a black one and it lasted YEARS and YEARS after that.
Elite and Slim lasted much longer.
They were revised versions, ran cooler, more storage, less issues, no ring of death.. etc

I don’t have a 360 anymore, but I did keep my hard drive makes me wanna buy another 360 pop in my old hard drive and see what’s on it also I remember getting red ring of death. They did send you a box and it was free for them to fix. The Xbox was gone for about a week.

As sad as it is, all good things must come to an end. The Xbox 360 is truly the greatest console of all time. Still use my 360 very frequently, and as a collector of physical games it's nice to at least see more attention being brought to the necessity of them with this store closing down. Sucks that the digital exclusive releases will cease to exist outside of RGH's and accounts with them purchased.
Man, I have one of the most mint looking Xbox 360 slims. Haven’t used it in like 8-10 years and tried to fire it up to red light of death lol. Xbox 360 generation going out with a big stinky popcorn fart for me.

Watch some videos on replacing the thermal paste, I fixed my 360s red ring by doing that, If that doesn't work take it to a PC repair shop and ask them to inspect the Capacitors.

Yep, I have been buying up X360 physical games of late and mainly in preference to the PS3 given that the games are backward compatible so I can play most of them on my Series X (which seems for me, to be its only use)

About Ring of death - Xbox 360 I had survived at least 6 years in a row. I was a lucky one.
Pure nostalgia, I do not miss DVD drives reading forever and the giant pile of bad games.
I'll tell you one thing:
I went through 2 Xbox 360s. During this current generation, I have been through 4 PS5 controllers due to stick drift.
I still have a PS2, 2 memory cards, and 3 controllers. Not a single issue. Not one.
They just don't make 'em like they used to.
The disk reader on my OG PS2 is starting to go bad, but its been 2 decades! And my PS2 controllers are in great condition in spite of the use they have gotten

Still got mine ( 2nd one the first one died RR of death ) played Monza on it yesterday .
I inherited my lil cousins 360 and its the best hand me down ive ever gotten in the past 2 years ive been stacking a great collection ive got about 25 games i dont think ive spent more then $20 for a game usually around 10-15 it was one of tge beat times for gaming and will be hard to bring back in this age of live service and micro transactions

ive broken in my 360 controller so much over the past decade that i need to WD40 the triggers so they don't squeak lol
The problem was the original came with a svideo cable and later introduced hdmi with no changes to the cooling etc when the system was pushing better resolutions it was cooking

And until know the last succesful console Micro has/had is the X360. I also bought a X360 a few months ago, and love it. Many good games are only aviable on X360/Ps3 like the Skate series, first Bad Company, Army of 2, Fable series. We had awesome franchises starting back then: Mass effect, Bioshock, Halo, Gears, Red Dead Redemption, Arkham games, Bully scoholarship edition.
Overall I think we had much better quality games in 7th gen than we have now.
The physical age had to release in a great state. Patches and updates were not available or as common at the time of early 360 ps3 era. But once they knew they could rush it out to meet demands of customers and investors the passion was killed by greed.

I never got the ring of death but I did have the disc drive refuse to read games. Still the xbox 360 is a classic system.

Tell you what : The controller that came with my Xbox One Series S, broke down faster than my 360 controller. I play lots of different games with the 360 controller. Until I can push myself to buy a new one, this is sort of an experiment to see how long it will last.
There is more in the way of games for the xbox360 than is for the PS5. I bought a few if the older systems for my collection.

I gave up on the 360 after the red ring of death and everyone around me had the same thing, they made those systems like shite. When you could keep the system running, there was a crazy amount of great games, some hidden rpg gems.
I think the dual sense controller has the 360 controller beat🤷But that's just me😂
I wish somebody on youtube actually used the 360 and made a video talking about how the 360 marketplace was already long dead with all of the best 360 games delisted years ago and what was closed down the other day was just a shadow of what the 360 marketplace once was but instead literally everyone is doing this "its such a sad day" bullshit like the 360 store wasnt dog shit for years already.
Going back to the 360 controller, It’s a little uncomfortable how narrow the left and right triggers are, for me.

Funny enough preservation of physical media is kinda pointless because the discs themselves have a finite amount of time before they start to degrade and become unusable. Digital preservation is the future but the companies just don’t want us to keep our games
