Timing chain or belt ? What type of Automatic Transmission ?

I'd be wary of another Opel / Daewoo design "GM" engine. They haven't been legendary for reliability, so far.

I’d note the CR-V E:HEV engine has exactly the same layout in right-hand drive markets (eg Australia, Japan, UK). For us the brake fluid top up is on the side you’d expect it to be. Matters little when the brake pedal is drive by wire.

Is the L2R built as tough ? Forged crank, longer head bolts etc?

Ford did it right with the 2.3 ecoboost and 10 speed tranny. Great drive train indeed.

I will not buy it looking like that "ugly " Put a plastic cover on it .

I have a 2016 Colorado Z71 crew cab and so far it’s been a reliable daily driver. I bought it new and it’s paid off. It still works and looks great. I have the V6 and with only 89k miles on the odometer it’s still got plenty of life left in it. The v6 should have been left as an option.

Where would you locate the: Transmission dipstick?

What type of oil does this engine take?

Don't buy. Direct inject only is no good. You need both direct and port inject for longevity.

Hybrids are over engineered JUNK! I will never own one or a BEV! The best drive train is a simple Naturally aspirated MPI ICE w/ a 5 or 6 speed auto or manual transmission. Longitudinal or Transverse, does not matter, although I prefer a RWD vehicle. Guess I'm getting OLD, LOL

I drove a CX-90 and was so disappointed. I guess I was expecting the new 3.3T to be like Mazda’s equivalent to the BMW B58, but it didn’t sound good, feel potent, get very good mileage, nor was it smooth at idle. They muffled all of the exhaust noise outside of the vehicle and the engine sounds more like a typical V6 than a silky smooth and free revving I6.

My 2024 has very grabby brakes, not sure this TSB has become the standard for manufacturing or only applied to people that complain.

My maverick is two weeks out but, watching this video, could you remount the factory bottle opener tie down upside down? It looks like tie down opening part has an angle to it that would clear the assist strut if mounted like this. Not sure if the holes would line up though.

Great review of the engine package. What brand and weight engine oil does GM prescribe for these 2.7 turbos?

The more electronics and sensors those engines have the more trouble they will be in the future.

I can't wait to buy one of these for cheap after they have been put through work so I can build the drivetrain to be a beast.

First thing to do with it is engine swap in a GM LS and a4l80 then I might consider getting one. . Take your mini motor put it in a go cart frame and give to the kids

I had a 2012 Grand Cherokee with the 3.6 Pentastar that ended up having an issue with the lifters that was costly to repair. Apparently it had been a known issue with Pentastar engines for some time, though i don't know if they've taken any steps to rectify that since then. I had them do the spark plugs while they were in there since it's such a pita to do the plugs on this engine. At least on the 4x4 configuration, apparently it's easier to work on when it's in a fwd vehicle because the engine is turned sideways in the 4x4. Aside from the lifter issue the engine worked well for 13 years for me until i traded it in. I wouldn't recommend a 4x4 with a Pentastar V6 for anyone interested in doing their own maintenance because aside from oil changes pretty much everything is a pain in the butt to do.

Just go the 2024 WT with the Turbomax engine and towing package. Coming from a VW golf. Lol. The torque delivery is extremely different in the Colorado from what I’m used to. The power band is pretty evenly distributed on this engine/transmission set up. I don’t feel the pull very much of the turbo, but I’m at 75 on the highway before I realize it. So far so good on the Colorado! It’s the best looking Colorado in a decade, inside and out. A very capable truck.

Is the 2.0 engine better than the Turbo? I am looking at tye Sport model vs the EX model. Any help is greatly appreciated.

What's the factory height difference between front & back on the hybrid?

I have this engine and I need a pallet full of injectors so I can keep up with replacements. On my 4th at 30k miles.

I wish the video had shown the serpentine belt and what items were pulled by it.

Do you want domestic manufacturers offering sensible drive trains? We need a sensible energy policy for that to happen.

I just got a 2024 Outer Banks the 1.5,it has plenty of power for my needs. It runs well.

It’s nice that this is one of the few cars left where they haven’t gotten rid of the v6. So many cars have four bangers or turbo four bangers now.

I wonder how long such a small and complex engine will last in such a large vehicle. It will have to work very hard and withstand a lot of heat from the turbo. GM is not exactly known for building durable small vehicles.

It's been 8+ months since you installed both the tires and the lift, I was curious if you've had any issues with your cv axles or joints, or if you've taken any measures to prevent those issues. I've read other Maverick owners having a lot of issues with their cv even without changing their tires or lift. It could be user related, but I figure your opinion and experience is trustworthy.

It’s best to change the oil early for the first one as the engine has just been broken in. 2500 miles is when the first oil change for Non hybrid ICE cars should be done. For hybrids break in oil change is 4000 miles since engine is typically on 2/3rds of the time. Car companies will recommend later oil change as they want the car to last only for a little longer than warranty.
