Great spotlight on Mahomes's career thus far. I'm a 49ers fan, and even though this guy has ripped my heart out twice, he's certainly on an unprecedented pace. I'll always take Joe Montana if I could have one QB for any game, but objectively speaking Mahomes' greatness can't be denied. The only pushback I'd give to crowning him so early is that he certainly has some advantageous playing in the era that he does. I do wonder how well he'd be able to hold up if he was playing in a rougher era like the 80's or 90's even if he was on as good as a team as the Chiefs are now. We'll never know, but like with all of modern quarterbacks that thought crosses my mind. If Mahomes does the impossible this upcoming season by getting a three-peat, I'd probably be ready to anoint him as the best to ever do it. I feel like that's more impressive than 7 overall rings over 20 seasons.

Mike's right that it'd be unfair to compare Tom's whole career to Pat's current one, but in one significant way, it's unfair to Tom. It's longer, but let's call Tom's career as lasting 21 years, because then it's easy to see that with seven rings, he averaged one every three years. In his six-year career, however, Mahomes has won three, which averages to one ring every *other* year. That's a glaring difference, easy for even a 5th grader to see. Just goes to show that a well-trained, well-organized statistical set can say anything you want it to say.

So we not gonna talk about Tom Brady beating Mohomes 2 times in his 40's while Mahomes was and still is at that age where quarterbacks reach their prime. There are so many other factors why Tom is still the GOAT but yall youngins jump out of your set after he won 2 champtionships in a row. *cough* *cough*. Tom did that too. RELAX. Yall also think he the GOAT because he has terrible wr. So did Tom eldalmen wasen't even that good of a player. He just gets overrated because yes, he was catching footballs.BUT most of the time it was just Tom Brady throwing dimes. So Tom Brady has the same wr problem like Mahomes does right now. Also Tom won his first Superbowl in just his SECOND SEASON!!! Mahomes toke a minute to get one. Even with amazing talent. Hill, Kelce, amazing a line, good D line. Decent defence. and he still couldn't win for 3 years. While Tom did it in 2 with EXTREMLILY worse talent . There are way more points but we will be here all day. SOOOOO. Tom still the G.O.A.T, relax youngsters Mahomes still got alot of work to do. Ill consider him a treat to the new G.O.A.T spot if he wins 3 championships in a row

Reid is 66 years old (and he has called the offense in KC since he arrived) Mahomes contract is already having a tremendous impact on that team's talent level (especially notable on offense this year) Mahomes is already declining. His play style relies on his ability to run around in the backfield. As he ages he's less and less capable of doing that. Mahomes is not a cerebral QB like Brady. In a few seasons people will look back at Mahomes and go "people seriously thought he would surmount Brady.

The first time I watched Mahomes play in his first starting season, I knew I was witnessing something special, something we have never seen before. Just like Mike, he made you stop and stare, slack-jawed and awestruck, amazed at what you were seeing. Chief's fan or not, it doesn't matter. Patrick Mahomes has done things, and is doing things that the game hasn't ever seen.... and its NOT OVER...

This video is spot on! The problem i always have with the era conversation with numbers is that there WAS guys throwing for big numbers.......so when you look at brady not doing it its really on him. What was stopping brady from making big plays and compiling passing stats? Nothing. He just wasnt good enough to do it early on in his career and Mahomes bottom line.

Brady became the player we knew him as, Mahomes started that way and is only getting better.

@@MikeKennedyNFLI don’t believe the OP was being pedantic about your use of the word, freezing. They were simply making a lighthearted joke about the Chiefs playing the 4th coldest game in NFL history the week before, so the game in Buffalo probably seemed positively balmy.

Tom Brady was the most _successful_ quarterback in NFL history; Patrick Mahomes is already the _best_ quarterback in NFL history (and on a good pace to become the most successful as well). If the numbers in this video don't bear it out well enough, the eye test is more than clear: Mahomes has hours worth of tape of plays Brady could never make even in his most athletic state, and he's just beginning his own prime. We shall see how long he has Reid and Kelce by his side, or whether that has any bearing whatsoever on his future success.

Inevitable is truly the perfect word to describe where Mahomes is heading. He's well on his way to being the 🐐 and honesty doesn't even need to win 7 rings to be called it. If he gets 5 rings with the potential of winning his 4th from a 3-peat, continues to put up stats, and win MVPs hell be seen as THE standard and the 🐐.

Very thorough. :) For me, Brady is the goat because he played well enough to win a lot of SBs, and did it while lasting for so long. All Mahomes has to do so surpass him is to last. (Threepeat might work too)

Might? No one has ever threepeated and if Mahomes is able to do that we are talkin long 8 seasons, 7 afc appearances (straight), 5 afc Championships, 4 Superbowls, 4 mvps, 2 regular season MVP and the first ever three peat….might? Dude you smokin lol

I like to compare Brady and Mahomes to Kareem and MJ Brady/Kareem- 7/6 rings, broke a bunch of records due to longevity, boring but effective play style Brady was the check down king and Kareem had the old man sky hook. Both won the majority of their rings not being the main contributor. Mahomes/MJ- by MJ’s 3rd ring people were already saying he’s probably the GOAT, was dominating the league in scoring and was extremely clutch in the 4th quarter just like Mahomes. MJ/Pat have a very exciting play style doing things we haven’t seen before. Yea there are guys like Allen, Stafford, Jackson with exciting play styles just like Wilkins, Clyde Drexler, and Barkley but just like Pat Jordan stopped all those guys from winning rings. The final similarity is Kareem was crowned the GOAT shortly after retiring only to lose it to MJ just a few short years later. I already feel like Pat is the GOAT but if he 3 peats he cements it.
