Loved the video. I think another great example is Magic Knight Rayearth, where character Fu had wind magic and her looks had a loooot of green.

The weirdest one is The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap, which goes so far out of its way to make wind green that they make earth purple just to make it work within the Four Swords color scheme.

The Ventus (Zephyros) attribute in Bakugan is ALWAYS green. That's probably where my own association of green with wind comes from.

Everyone keeps mentioning wind blowing through greenery of nature for the association of wind=green, but no one has mentioned JADE as in the literal stone thought of as SACRED/HEAVENLY in asian culture. Japan was influenced by china in a lot of ways, so I assume Jade being a "heavenly stone" where the gods/winds dwell would make its way into people's mind as an obvious color association. Also the chief celestial deity in chinese culture was called the Jade Emperor.

A few things: Jinn in YYH does not have green wind nor is he green. Two colors overlapping shouldn’t be a problem since they can use a lighter hue as a different color. Green also is for nature like in pokemon for example.

The first time I noticed 'wind is green' was when I was playing Legend of Legaia as a small child

That is a weird phenomenon. I heard of that before. I may have seen this once when I dabbled into Bakugan. I am not sure. I am a big Pokemon and Zelda fan. So it is interesting to see these two examples in the video. Another Zelda example is TOTK. That has Tulin as the main Rito character. He is similar to Revali since they are the same race and have air power. Tulin does get a green color coding. It is in the key items menu after completing his dungeon. Green may be associated with wind in some kind of mistecism. There are rare cases where the sky turns greenish before intense storms. It is weird. It is interesting that the video compares this to a Shinto god. I think of things differently. I use red and blue just like how the video describes. I think of green and yellow as the other basic colors. Things get tricky. I got sixteen elements. Then I group them into gour groups of four elements. Each element is color coded. The general group gets the most bssic color. For example red is the color of both the specific element fire and the fiery group of elments. This group also has similar elements like light and lava. Likewise blue has both the specific water element and the watery elements as a whole. The group also has ice and dark.

Haha, literally thought of Farore's Wind rifht before it popped up with the message about literally thinking about it while editing the video I was actually talking about this with my partner just the other day when we were discussing the Chinese zodiac. Wind isn't an element there, but wood is, and its color is green. That might not seem like anything. on its own, but both the first Lost Kingdoms games have wood element attacks that use wind. In Lost Kingdoms, you can summon a bee of the wood element, and it attacks with tornadoes. In Mega Man Battle Network, the wood style buster charges up to unless a twister.

I simply just thought of it as they just needed another color for the elements and blue was taken for water. Also I thought the green came from how you see plants blown in the wind a lot.

In Kamen Rider Wizard, a tokusatsu series in 2012, he uses a wind form that is green and is an Emerald. ;3 He uses rings with gems on them to change forms. Also, you mentioned the mystic blue power ranger but that is MagiBlue from Magiranger in 2005. Sorry to be a weeb. Also, loved the sound effect from the beginning of the video. I recognize that from Phantasy Star Online on dreamcast and Gamecube.

Shin Megami Tensei also gets in on this with the Zan/Garu line of spells, both being green spells of the Force/WIND element.

Yuno from Black Clover Anemo from Genshin Impact Garuda from FF Totally on to something here. Green is more akin to nature and earth if you ask me but it clearly is associated with wind but with the odd exception like that Wind quirk guy from MHA or Avatar the last airbender.

I’m certain it’s from Wuxing, where Wood is Green and includes Wind as noted by the movement of leaves. Earth is Yellow in Wuxing.

As a person who lives in a tornado zone in North America, I will say that this topic makes me think of how the sky/clouds often seem to turn "green" before a tornado hits. To the point where "tornado green" is a very distinct color to me. I don't know for sure but I would imagine that this could be the case for other significant wind storms in other parts of the world. Maybe an example in nature that influenced Fujin's green depiction over the centuries.

Some other examples Magic Knights of Rayearth. 3 knights, each one based in three elements: Fire, Water and Wind, the color scheme is the same as you mentioned: red, blue and green. Gingaman: The green ranger is known as Wind Warrior Hayate. Kamen Rider Wizard green style is named Hurricane and has wind-based powers.

Chrono Cross has the entire “green” innate as either wind or plant based. I recently was talking with friends when I realized this isn’t a color association most people have. I used to question it when I was growing up, but it’s been second nature to me for so long that I don’t even think about it anymore.

A fun question would be which color is better for representing lightning energy: yellow? Purple? Bright cyan? I'm team purple because its what most lightning bolts look like to me, plus it doesn't overlap with another element usually

Wind Waker has two wind gods, Zephos and Cyclos. Except in Japanese they're called Fuchin and Raichin. Fuchin of course rides a green cloud and is a greenish-blue color.

FFXIV's latest magic dps class "Pictomancer" which has spells litterally themed as if they were painting their effects to conjure them, has the spell "Aero in Green", which is just another fun example along well basically any wind themed thing in that game (The wind primal Garuda for example)

Another practical reason may be that wind is a much more common element in games than a "nature/plant" element, which would also naturally fill the green color slot. With this plant element often absent, there's just no good match to green other than wind for the reasons you described.

I never really questioned this, I grew up with bionicle which explicitly drew this connection, mostly because the toa of air lived in the jungle. Prior to watching the video I thought "it's probably grass cutter, sword with wind powers and associated with grass, the blade probably became green over time" Seems like I wasn't that far off

Just colour theory in different countries. Green in wind, purple is poison in jp. Green is poison and purple is the Samuel L Jackson colour in the anglophone world. Purple has traditionally been used in kabuki theatre for posion and treachery and green links with nature and wind according to the eastern classical elements. Ez google.

One I like is Kamen Rider W’s take. The characters use concepts to transform into a superhero. And one of the protagonists uses the power of wind. Called Cyclone. And it’s depicted as green and the wind based abilities from it are always green.
