In every ship comparison I just miss teh old X3 design. I hope Egosoft will revive that some day

I do like that factions are just color of the shot and stat modifiers. Other games come up with "unique" gun names, which just makes keeping them straight in your head, a pain in the butt. If I want smol and accurate and balanced, pulse and then pick my flavor, if I want accuracy and death by volume, beams and a Split carrier or a Syn with LARGE beams, oh, so sorry for your drones Xenon, would you like a side of missing shipyard to go with them? If only I didn't hate the sound of terran main batteries. They squeak, like metal on metal, why? I do like Split Plasma, but I went with Paranid anyway, maybe Argon plasma Ls? IDK Are TER Pulse Ls even useful compared to Bolt?

My favorite fighter is Asgard. He is so sneaky.

PSA for new players - you don’t need all blue prints. Ai bring their own component blue prints, you only need the hull and the wares for them to build everything.

Why does no one use construction ships for boarding. great turret placement ok damage with plasma. Large crew size and can use a large amount defense drones /repair drones

In my current playthrough I became to love the Osprey. With the Boron DLC you can put 8 into the storage of a Shark and move them around. With 17 drones per Osprey you can send over 100 Combat drones into the enemy to distract them from your fighters/bombers.

I will try this out. My solution has been to make multiple stations that create terran infrastructure. It works but is annoying to establish.

Why don't they do well?

I started X4 maybe a week ago and these videos helped me so much, I wish he would come back to making them >.>

The frigate is the first time I've had a ship with a docking bay, and the logistics of the ship having a breathable atmosphere on the outside while the ship is moving around in space is absolutely throwing me. Not to mention docking a ship on a ship on a station, orbbeing able to fit 40 ships in a ship... I ain't saying no to free stuff though!!

As an X2 alum who bought X4 and all the DLC a few weeks ago, and am completely sucked in (and would kill for Boso Ta), I don't love the PHQ and in particular teleportation. Breaks the game a bit if you can ping across the galaxy in an instant with a pocket full of contraband

Anybody wanting to play SCA and enjoy themselves, I strongly recommend editing your save file at the start of the game to unlock their reputation right at the beginning, Im doing unworthy entrepreneur and I joined SCA 20 min in. There's a reason why it's locked and its mostly for story missions and stuff cause HAT goes against SCA but just never join HAT and unlock the rep. I think it's an oversight by the devs. Rep should unlock the moment you join the guild. You'd face dire consequences if you killed you guildies but for the most part they don't attack my traders. obv terraforming unlocks the rep but thats way too late game to matter

I've been binging videos and that station calculator is mental and exactly what I've been searching for. Holy smokes. Also the notion about doing repeat trades to whole sectors is mindblowing.

so this was pre-boron, right? something of interest is that the borons actually have only one engine type (that I know of), and it acts like a combat engine on smaller ships, with an instant spool up time. I don't know how the stats compare to the other races and if it works the same on the larger ships, but its interesting at least.

Can you just destroy the hive and put a defense platform on top of it and let it sit ?

I can't imagine the cost to keep it running. I tried adding advanced components production and it jumped from 8 million upkeep to 12 so this must have like a billion dollar upkeep

While in game the tel turrets don't work that well their stats do fit with their theme. Since they are pretty much only strapping these onto merchant fleets the goal isn't to destroy the enemy but to buy enough time to get away. With a high range and high ROF they would achieve that

A focused Consideration: Shielding on large Ships, does individual shield generators need to be taken out to get at the weapons on that area of the ship?

The thing about letting them destroy your competition is yes you get to corner the market more, but you might also be letting them destroy your customers so you won't get as many sales. Probably not a big deal when money isn't a problem anymore and your whole production line is free, but if that's a concern it's better to just let your fleets clean them up periodically.

Tried the meson stream in fights. The long cooldown period is horrible. You'll be running after every shot, only to come back later. It's weird fighting.

Awesome vid. seems i have the knowledge to create whatever fleet i need now. Station destroyer fleet, max range. Fleet destroyer fleet, good combo of very fast weapons for smaller ships, and high damage weapons for larger ships. All around fleet - large ships designed for destroying stations, with lots of medium and small ships for dealing with the smaller stuff. making sure to leave behind your weaker ships when attacking high risk targets. Your videos are great, really concise and easy to understand.

I suspect the single most damning trait of the minotaur... looks like a big elite. Suspicious.

I havent messed eith this yet, but i had an old save from years ago which allowed me to start witt 133 Million. I dumped as much as i could into space fly eggs, then set up my space suit as well as craft items, no ship start. After i hitched a ride to Hatikvah's Choice 1 trade station, i used the trader craft table for caviar, emp, bombs, fine meals, first aid, SETA. Gave me about 500 million credits.

Nifty! Now, I have "how weapons work, and how medium fighters work," Just need to figure out shields. There's probably a conversion page for that, or ...

I do feel like the Terran fighters should get a all round slight boost to their firepower rating, for the simple reason of the Terran high-energy weapons generally being the best in the game (Meson stream has one of the highest burst damage of all weapons in the game, actually superior to most destroyer main guns, and the proton barrage is imo the best anti-fighter weapon in the game bar none).

But...what about resource probes ?
