  • The Void is a very resource rich sector, especially in methane, that does have the unfortunate side effect of blowing up your ships in its hazard zone. This guide for X4 Foundations 4.20 will give you a few tips on how to safely mine and transport the resources found here.

    X4: Foundations is the latest title in the popular X series of space simulation / sandbox games, played as action games from a first-person perspective in a living breathing universe, with TRADE FIGHT BUILD THINK as the common tag-line. X4: Foundations is unique in its depth, simulating an entire universe of NPC ships and stations, forming a realistic economy. It consists of a huge universe, simulated from the bottom up. Hundreds of stations, and thousands of ships, trade goods among themselves. Prices change based on supply and demand; resources are mined and processed in several stages. This economy is linked directly to the simulation of major conflicts in a universe with dynamically-acting factions. Every player decision can dramatically change the future of the game universe. Step in and live your very own space adventure!

    There's a chassis upgrade called "Tenacity" which gives you *100% damage reduction* from hazardous zones. So the void ain't a problem at all and you can get at it without any trouble whatsoever - same for the tides in Avarice. I've already commented this on the crystals guide, but I think ppl watching here might profit from this too. Enjoy!

    • @JKNinja

      damage reduction mods were added in 5.00. I'm sure it was meant for the new zones, but it also works very well in the Void! It is an exceptional mod to get that 100% damage reduction so kind of pricey. Also not sure if it applies to the drones of the attached ship, but at least it would make medium miners safe

    • @vertexrikers
      @vertexrikers 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@JKNinja aaaah, added in 5.0!? That explains how I could miss it during all this time. Thanks for your insight!
      I don't know about drones either, but yeah, medium miners are safe. I just hope this was intended and won't be removed - I really enjoy being able to retrofit ships with stuff like that :)
      Regarding cost.. not sure how long it would take a new player to get 100%.. my save file is a bit older and upgrading at my own shipyard doesn't cost credits - just resources, which I accumulated over time in abundance. A large miner ain't easy for a new player to come by either - but when, like you said in the video, shield recharge rate can counter the shield drain from hazardous zones, maybe a lower tier mod can enable other ships with less recharge rate to achieve the same =)

      @@vertexrikers late reply, but I'll respond to it anyways, because it got changed a while back, and people in the present reading this, might get mislead.
      Sadly, in-sector (is) damage is now the same as out of sector (oos) damage, so L Miners with +500 shield regen rate continue to be save oos, because they don't deploy their drones when you're oos. But that only works because L/XL shield regenerate continuously, and S/M shields do not. Once damaged, they have an activation delay before they start to regenerate, which is fine in combat, where you're expected to dodge bullets, but will always result in zero shield effectiveness inside hazard zones.
      Either you use L Miners and stay oos (or check that you Miners are not in the hazard zones when you enter), or you have to upgrade your ships with the 100% hazard resistance mods for their hull. And if you do the later, M Miners become the more attractive option, since they don't deploy drones for mining, and Drones do not profit from hazzard Protection mods on their L Miner.
      If you want to increase the safety of your ships, use "trading" stations as mining hubs.
      First, build a station off the ecliptic. +/- 100km in the middle of the sector works best, and assign a manager to it.
      Second, build any Docking ports for M class ships, and a bunch of liquid (or even solid) storage units.
      Set up trade wares, methane most importantly, and restrict their buy orders to player owned faction, selling is fine for everyone.
      Third, assign 5 or so M Miners for Liquids (and for Ores) to the station manager via the mine-for-station command.
      Another 5 M Miners should be assigned as traders for the stations, distributing what got collected.
      You need miners here, because trader ships can't load liquids or solids, only containers.
      Keep in mind that all of these ships need the hazzard mod installed. It is less important on the traders, but it should be done regardless.
      The higher the stars on your manager, the bigger the jump range for the miners on trading duty, so they'll start to supply the surrounding sectors, and if your industry is placed nearby, fuel it, too. I guess the limit for a manager is still 5 sectors, so eventually, you'll want to unshackle your miners on trading duty, and use their 15 sector jump range to trade with everyone.
      Since you're the only faction that produces a station-stored supply of methane or any other basic mining good, traders will flock to you, and your wares get spread to any sector in range, unless there is a better offer closer by. You can even restrict the selling of your ressources to npc factions, and fuel your stations on the other side of the sector map.

    Just a tip... if you place a station above the ecliptic in the middle of the Void, be sure to arm it properly. I have such an installation and it gets frequently visited by Xenon K's on their way from Getsu Fune to Frontiers Edge or vice versa.

  • @kajarslibrary5404
    @kajarslibrary5404 2 ปีที่แล้ว +25

    Nice one.
    Just to add some things.
    Ships will automatically avoid the dangerous area. As long as you don't build the station in the dangerous parts, there is no need to move it vertically. This also applies to miners it seems, so far all my miners seem to avoid the sector by themselves.
    However, the automatic mining-avoidance and blacklists no longer work if you assign miners to a station that is in The Void, as it automatically greenlights the sector for ships belonging to that station. Miners will still try to mine there if they have nowhere else to go.
    Only the Magnetar and Crane can safely mine there as they are the only L miners with two shield slots to reach that critical 500 recharge rate.
    The area where the two radiation belts cross deals double the damage - 1000 damage per second. You get hit by both belts at the same time.

    Learned this lesson the hard way, as I kept losing ships (miners and scouts) that I sent there, unaware of the hazardous region. When I eventually noticed I wasn't getting attack alerts, I Googled it to figure out what was happened, and learned about the hazardous region (which I later experienced for myself following the Segaris Pioneers questline).
    So I blacklisted the region, but now I think I might just follow your advice. Thanks man.

    The void is quite crucial for all the Terran play. It's the only way to get into the other parts of the gate network. So, You have to take it. Vise versa, it's the only path to get to Sol. It's also next to ANT's capital sector and only 1 sector (Second Contact II) away from Argon Prime.
    I just built a huge advanced electronic factory there (50 adv. electronic production modules. I guess I overworked.)and I am thinking of turning it into a huge shipyard.
    Also, there is a mod to change the hazard only to depleting shields, not armor or hull.

    A better alternative is to keep using M Miners/Gas harvesters instead of L ones. Why? Because you can use a M miner with a cheap basic hull mod to give your M miners upto 90% less damage taken in hazardous areas. Meaning they are completely immune to the field even with a single medium shield generator worth of shield regen. And UNLIKE L-sized miners, they won't instantly lose all their drones as soon as you pass through the sector.

      It was changed in 4.1, with the AI automining adjusted so it steers clear of The Void unless it's already there when orders are given. In the case of Ls it's no problem because their drones don't need to deploy OOS. S/M take damage OOS. The Void also has some trouble from Xen, Yak from North and Xen from South. But the main problem is if you'd need to travel through and remember to worry about L miners drones. If it wasn't a crucial connection sector then that could be avoided. Now it's a minor headache.

    • @dondumitru7093
      @dondumitru7093 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It was changed. Just in the last couple of days, I ordered my small "deploy resource probes" craft to drop some probes in The Void, and (OOS) when it flew in and approached a position that happened to be in the hazardous region (because it was explicitly ordered to, which overrides the global blacklist), it went "poof". So, oops.
