  • This guide goes through the whole process of boarding a large ship so you will know what you need to do and how long it will take in X4: Foundations 4.0. It can definitely take a while so if you have SETA this would be the time to use it. Even though I am using the Shuyaku Sentinel you can use any ship(s) as long as it can carry the amount of marines that you want to bring. If you want to know how to capture the small and medium ships then please check out • X4 Foundations: Starti...

    X4: Foundations is the latest title in the popular X series of space simulation / sandbox games, played as action games from a first-person perspective in a living breathing universe, with TRADE FIGHT BUILD THINK as the common tag-line. X4: Foundations is unique in its depth, simulating an entire universe of NPC ships and stations, forming a realistic economy. It consists of a huge universe, simulated from the bottom up. Hundreds of stations, and thousands of ships, trade goods among themselves. Prices change based on supply and demand; resources are mined and processed in several stages. This economy is linked directly to the simulation of major conflicts in a universe with dynamically-acting factions. Every player decision can dramatically change the future of the game universe. Step in and live your very own space adventure!

    First time I tried to take a large ship it was a construction vessel back in v2. something. It all was going great until the boarding hit phase three and the ship shat out fifty laser turrets in one instant and melted my ship and the dozen or so fighters I brought with me in a split second. That was fun.

      Skip fighting, hire constructor to one of your new stations in unowned sector, fill freighter L size to the brim with boarding guys. Freighter should be free of turrets, drones. Fly just above target and press ‘boarding’. They fly away from it. 15 real minutes and you have new ship worth up to 30 mln.

    The Marines will Breach even with Hull at 100% but it takes forever. Having a Supply ship nearby will make repairs free. Pulse lasers can penetrate shields and have a 14x damage multiplier for surface elements. If you want to keep using the same Marines over and over, (to gain experience) transfer them back to your boarding ship. A crew transfer from another ship where you use the checkbox for replace captain is instantaneous. You can then send the ship to a shipyard/equipment dock to buy crew. If you hire Marines from Split stations a certain % will be veteran Marines.

      You dont even need all that in sector activity. I do the afk and oos capturing on 100% ships all day. Just hop into the shuyaku, move REAALLLY close to the prey, scan it for intel, teleport oos again and commence (keep distance) boarding. It will take longer, sure, but the ship wont attack your freighter and stuff will get done while you do other things. I got dozens of Donias and Barbarossas this way, also 3 asgaards (no use for more) 3 extra Syns, some Helios', Osakas and lots of Honshus etc.
      Ships remain fully intact and all you have to invest is the replenishment of a bunch of marines that got killed on the way. Easy money

    If you use the [ and ] buttons, you can shift targeting the subsystems, like shield generators and individual weapon turrets. This really helps in two significant ways: identifying easier ships to disable and finding those pesky turrets for plasma shot fly-bys (if you're using an M class ship or higher).
    When I'm hunting for SCA destroyers, I typically use the [ ] keys to find the ones that DON'T have missile turrets. If they do have them, I might go in for a scan to check their load-out for missiles. If they're empty, it's an easy target. If they have any missiles at all, I usually opt out b/c dodging those swarm missiles is a pain (but do-able in a M ship. Dragon raider FTW).

    Nice guide, getting a Barbarossa and a Stork was the big game changer for me in the boarding department. Just park right under any capital ship, as close as you can, with the Rossa, initiate the boarding, the pods will launch and attatch before any of the turrets can get a shot off. then peel away the shields and a little hull with the turrets on the Rossa, and boom, all yours. Repair (for free) at the stork, strip and sell at nearest shipyard. With this method you will take no standing hit as you dont need to take out any modules on the target.

  • @PaddyyYY
    @PaddyyYY 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    I noticed today then when some the boarding pods won't move (or take way too long to get to the hull) you can just teleport out of sector, the pods then use another calculation and will reach the ship instantly.

  • @artur39111
    @artur39111 2 ปีที่แล้ว +25

    There is also another solution with those pods. You can just nock them with your ship, and they'll immediately attach to target.
    However, your solution is much better

  • @silverwar360
    @silverwar360 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    just for completions sake: you can reassign marines to service crew very quickly in the info screen, so they can start right away at repairing those damage modules. in case there are no drones left, and you dont wanna get out of your ship to repair stuff manually.

  • @dbrowdy

    There are guns that penetrate shields?!? That is a game changer! I can go back to my "Cobra in the blind spot" method but instead of taking 20 minutes to whittle down the shield, I can just plonk the hull directly. Love it!
    Been doing the Shuyaku flyby this time thru but it's slow to setup and takes for fucking ever to cap (or fail to cap). I like the Cobra method better (at least for capping plunderers).

    There are actually much easier methods, you should do videos on them, I have no idea how to. I use the fly by method.... you simply travel mode so you're going 2k plus mph, when you're right next to the ship press pause, go in menu tell everyone to board, unpause.....
    They will all depart close and board. You can actually even do this to ships who aren't enemies and get 0 rep loss. Easiest way to do it and if you fly by fast enough you won't even be shot

  • @Ironbuket
    @Ironbuket ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I just use fly-by boarding. You don’t have to worry about faction hits and the ship is completely intact afterwards. You can even take out ships in travel drive, by ramming them and they will the drop to a lower speed that your pods can handle. I boarded a rattlesnake with this method just today, but you do tend to lose more marines this way than damaging the hull first. I train up my marines by boarding building ships. They tend be hanging around all over the map doing nothing. They also don’t have many marines and sell for quite a lot, if you strip them of equipment first before selling them.

    I love the cockpits and bridges in the game. Even better when I can walk further into the ship. It really adds a lot to buy a new ship and see you've upgraded from a tiny one man space to a full ship's bridge. And again when buying a destroyer with a proper combat space. Walking along the new huge ship docked at a station is nice, but getting in and out of that cockpit feels like you've really made it.
    The game is pretty similar to X3 in a lot of ways, but its small details like that which really felt missing in the previous rendition. Same with walking around the stations, perhaps could have been done better but compared to simply a menu (and no manual docking) it's a massive leap forwards.

    Sonra. 10 m class turrets, plus 6500 travelspeed with modification, 250 marines. 6 s class parking slots.
    i like your idea of the pulsar. but i like sitting in the sonra, while my fighters prioritize weapons, shields and engines. just make sure they survive a couple hits, and are armed to remove shields. a couple m class Argon flak guns, shred through their modules once their shields are down. the biggest challange than is to stop your 10 m turrets before it blows up as this flak deals a lot dmg to hull in close range xD.
    you can optimize it by adding a rocket launcher with these hyperspeed rockets to it, so you're even easier able to stop the preys travel engines, but usually, just doing a flybye with 6500 travelspeed does the job as well. espacially when you're using the controll Space command in order to adjust directions while staying at travelspeed
    i would reccomend to get used to a couple keybinds for the target priorisations of those guns as well.
    10:12 the ammount of stations in the helm, are exactly the first slots of the ship. so if you wanna only hang arround with sexy Terran babes on your bridge,
    make sure their names are on top of the list. ^^

  • @herczy

    I use this setup (thanks for the great tip, by the way), but I'm not sold on the dumbfire rockets. The burst ray emitter is my go-to engine/turret disabler, since it won't run out of ammo and is slightly easier to aim properly. So I have 2xBRE + 4xTDI on my ship and a prayer in my hearth that I can outrun the smart missiles my targets seem to be fond of lobbbing at me.

    Hi JK - quick question:
    I was wondering about using the Shuyaku, it is a large class ship. If I want to cap a ship on the other side of the map, it's travel speed would be a limiting factor, no? I use a mix of Gorgons, Minotaurs and Cerberus's to follow my targets until I can disable the engines and turrets, then I start the boarding ops using the ships I had tailing the target and fly off to my next target to rinse and repeat.
    I like the idea of the Shuyaku (trust me, I've lots of marines now that are Veterans) but I'd hate to have them all in one slow, lumbering ship.

It doesn't look good and isn't at all complicated enough to justify the slow load and "quick save" times. I'll never get my $50 back. The developer of this game can contact me and give me my money back. I'm going to do a lot more than $50 worth of spreading the message that this game is trash and absolutely no one should put up with it. There are too many games worth playing in the short amount of time you have in this life to waste a second of it on this. If I don't get my money back then I'm more than happy to have spent $50 to leave a negative review on Steam and downvote this garbage pile. It was worth it just to negatively impact the Steam score by a fraction of a percent. If I was Elon Musk I'd buy this company and shut it down on the first day, issue an apology and refund to every single person who ever bought it and then delete the codebase.
