I havent seen anyone get standed due to fuel injector, because most vehicles have multiple cylinders and can still run without a single one working. However i have seen people stranded due to electronic fuel pumps failing. Carbs all day, ecu(computer) can also fail. I just hate wiring, why would i want to make it more complicated?

Its pretty pointless as the radiator is too close to the exhaust that get way to hot you should have placed the radiator next to the horn plus the oil lines are way to close to the cylinder it defeats the object your trying to achieve radiators are ment to be above the engine not below as most of the heat is at the bottom

Great video!! Interesting to see the two models compared. Just purchased a '23 DLX with the counterbalanced EFI version. Already been a blast just to tool around the city in -planning to trailer it up north to trails we ATV on to see how it handles rough stuff. The rear axle bolt is in backwards put it with the nut on the other side and it will stop backing out

does the klx230sm have the correct size axles/ tires for a direct swap?

For shit sake already!! When you are doing a top speed run video, please shout out your speeds throughout the video okay .if you think about it, most people are visual confirmation types!! Right? remember the gaps on piston rings have to be in a certain position as the ring gaps shouldnt line up with other ring gaps

a tiny scewdriver works great for removal of piston pin circlips

Please don't use Petroleum jelly or Vaseline on any rubber, or rubber gaskets & seals Petroleum jelly eats threw all of it just FYI

Honestly I would keep it farther away from the front as possible.. I would keep it far where it's cooler so the oil can cool a little more

FYI GUYS. "D" is a manufacturer mark for the company "DONGYA", DY means top ring and D means bottom, other companies like ATG for example will have "ATG" as top ring and "A" as second ring. Orientation doesnt matter as long as you can tell which is which by rubbing your fingers against the ring like he said which is corect. So in this case D will be the Scraper ring NOT THE COMPRESSION RING like hes showing (according to the manufacturer) and also "IN" on the top of the piston DOES NOT MEAN Inside the frame or whatever he stated.. IT MEANS "INTAKE" VALVE! so the "IN" means the piston needs to be orientated facing the INTAKE valve side of this engine and not the EX or EXHAUST!. has nothing whatsoever to do with the inside of the bike frame. just my .02.

You ever looked into swapping a 2 stroke motor into one of these china frame? Anybody you can point me towards? I been looking at a kx80 kdx80 cr80 cr125 2 stroke type of deal. The kdx 80 2 stroke looks like it will bolt right up with 15hp and great torque.

Edit: sorry just got to the end where you say use loctite haha. But I guess I'll ask still why didn't it work? Regarding things vibrating loose, did you ever try putting loctite on the threads?

Dude, you did the most excellent job imaginable considering you have basic tools to work with. You didn't get sloppy on anything. It's all too easy to drill a hole out too wide. Your tolerances would be Jet Propulsion Labratory acceptable. As you can guess, I am all too familiar with Chinese engineering. Right now it is the Japanese that have the quality control as an art. The Chinese make it, slap it together and put it on the sales floor. It's all just a bit rushed. California Scooter Company actually runs through their deliveries and makes sure some form of quality control has been applied. That is the strong point of their company. You have done a marvelous job of working on this bike. It is sad to say all this has to be done to get the unit to a level of acceptability to ride it but you did a sensational job. The Bauer tools are good. I use them. They are affordable quality. I actually bought a generic angle grinder at Harbor Freight for $10. I got two and they are gotta haves. Thanks for the video.

I had a 2017 Hawk 250 I traded for a 91 KLR250, now I have a -83 Honda XL600R. I'll never go back to a Hawk after having such a reliable old Japanese old skool bike. I got up to 4k miles on the Hawk, but weird crap broke on it out of the blue.

hey moto taco i know this video is from 2 yrs ago i just have a question? just bought a 2023 hawk X 250 put the 30mm nibbi carb on same way you did in this video with the stock 128 jet on, and it works great until i shift from 4th into 5th gear with the throttle pinned and i cant get past 52 mph it bogs and buckles! the bike is bone stock no performance exhaust all i have is the nibbi carb, performance intake, and ngk irridium spark plug. is there any other kind of tuning i need to do? it came with extra jets.. any info would help slow down more grey hairs from developing and stress levels

Fuel injection is a massive deal.

I see some videos show the radiator with the holes facing down. Seems wrong as they supply the syringe for the purpose of top fill and all the oil would drain out with engine off. How did you determine that the left side of the radiator was input and hose went to bottom hole at engine?

I see some videos where they mounted the radiator with the holes facing down. Seems wrong as the syringe is supplied to top fill and ALL the oil would drain out to crank case with engine shut off. How did you determine which hose went where...ie...left side radiator was input to bottom hole at engine?

I see some videos where they mounted radiator with the input and output holes facing down. Seems wrong because the syringe comes to fill the 125cc from the top (would not need syringe unless facing up) and ALL the oil would drain back to the crank from the radiator when engine is turned off. How did you determine what hose went where?
