That line isn't for overfill. It's a crankcase breather. Every ICE motor has one, and in a modern motor, it's usually where the PCV valve lives. An ICE engine always has some piston blow-by, and the pressure has to have somewhere to go or it'll blow the case gaskets/seals. It takes oil vapor with it, and the feds say this can't enter the environment so they send it to the intake instead. In the olden days it just dripped down the side of the block which is why old cars are always coated in oily muck. Perfectly fine to route the hose to the ground or to the chain. Word of warning: you'll want to park with a piece of cardboard under the bike so you don't get drips on the garage floor.

I just bought my Honda XR650L…you would not believe the issues these bikes have compared to the Hawk. The Honda is a beast once tamed like the Hawk and it’s quirks but I’ve seen TH-cam videos of the XR having CDI box issues (guys getting left stranded…never heard a Hawk leave it’s rider) lean jets and mods similar to the Hawk. The Hawk is a damn good bike…it will do Baja just a bit slower.
If you plan on riding through any kinda of water, even big water puddles do not do this. Mine would suck water up the carb and kill the big going through any bit of water. I connected my Nibbi up to my airbox instead and now have zero issue riding through water

bro i hardcore mud down here in the south and not a single drop of mud has gotten on the cold air intake under my seat or the CDI. the back shock and the back of the crankcase? eh who cares lol. just rinse it off
Thanks for the video I too had just put on my new free flow air filter and it was slightly bumped up against the plastic fairing me being anal about stuff like that I knew the airbox had to go, after seeing your video I will take mine out tomorrow and hopefully after that have my first ride on my three week old hawk...( Been doing mods so far)
Oil overfill? I thought it was a breather tube and dust will creep directly into your crankcase from this tube that no longer is routed through clean air. Is this wrong? I have a small air filter for the "oil overfill/breather, my question is if I keep the air box so I rtv the air box hole?? (as said adding filter to breather tube and want it to stop placing oil into my clean air area/carb air.

Seems excessive but I couldn't leave it exposed, yet I already ran normal car oil through my motor so moly got in there ... Bc I assumed water got into my air box, w it leaking out and air oil mixture looking similar to how water emulsion does, I'm just glady.engine is dry and the bike has this common issue.....now I didn't overfill mine much at all... Halfway thru sight glass and just up on drip stick range ...I guess weather change or rider subdued, enforced by some radical condition or timely fluke... If hose or mini pod issue I'm just going to stick 2ft cheap clear hose w a tiny cloth cap rubber banded to end and forget about it ...
@@kindasustho_ what I mean is when I saw it leaking I flushed it w store oil right in the parking lot using old water jugs to.collect the purge, and they only had basic oils, so hopefully seafoam and mmo use.can reverse any friction inhibitors that remain. Either way I got this Chinese bike brand-new to see exactly what will fail first ....clutch plates I'd put best odds on, prolly buy a new motor for $300 b4 I'd switch out new plates? Seem like a head gasket job n a car just more work than worth ....or am I being fool?
@@scottyguinn203 In that situation I’d doubt the clutch plates absorbed all that much oil so they’ll probably be fine. And you’re right lol, but issues with the engine in particular is normally owner error or neglect IMO. And with poor care, I’d say a top end failure before clutches. But with good care, probably clutch or rings👍
I got mine at autozone and it came with the acid not installed. All you gotta do is puncture the top cells, let the acid drain into the battery. Plug it up. Let it sit for like 45 mins then it should be about 60% charged. Riding your bike will get the battery up to 100% soon with your alternator. Or you could also just charge it up the rest of the way!
@@giosueiglesias i got my hawk a month ago and I it was no maintenance too. I did have to charge it with an RC Car charger after draining it while figuring out how start it.

I have always owned cruisers and just sold my Honda 1100 a few months ago 😔. I have to get back on two wheels and it's definitely time to get off of the pavement. I'm stuck between the TBr7 and the hawk. Is the fuel capacity the same and speed ?

It is a breather tube, and you should have a breather filter on it. You’re right. He will have issues down the road.

What size jets you running, I bought the same carb , installled with a 40 pilot and the bike would not idle down. High idle and wouldn’t go down.
