    For those who were wondering, you need to use the 48mm cold air intake. The 42mm (the one I bought) is too small.

    I have this carb on my Hawk. Love it. If you plan on driving through water the cold air intake is no good. Sucks the water right up and kills the engine. I ended up using the hoses from air intake and stock hose to connect directly to the air box. Works great through water now.

    I am running a 110 main jet, but when the engine reves very high, it starts to cut out. I was told to install an aftermarket CDI without the Rev. limiter. Low end, she is fine hand has tons of torque. I am also running an aftermarket exhaust pipe and WOW at least 5-6 more horsepower!

    • @gangriffith883

      You need a larger main jet, not a CDI. You can check by looking at your spark plugs after running WOT and then killing it. Look up how to read spark plugs and you'll be looking for a lean condition if your main jet is undersized.

    hey moto taco i know this video is from 2 yrs ago i just have a question? just bought a 2023 hawk X 250 put the 30mm nibbi carb on same way you did in this video with the stock 128 jet on, and it works great until i shift from 4th into 5th gear with the throttle pinned and i cant get past 52 mph it bogs and buckles! the bike is bone stock no performance exhaust all i have is the nibbi carb, performance intake, and ngk irridium spark plug. is there any other kind of tuning i need to do? it came with extra jets.. any info would help slow down more grey hairs from developing and stress levels

      You can up a jet size that’s no issue. You’re right m, the stock jet may starve it at higher speeds. But there’s only so much you can do with your 239ccs. You may find a power increase with a larger jet though. The carbed models are sooo customizable. Just try it out, you’d be surprised what a little more fuel can give you

  • @yeahrightbear8883
    @yeahrightbear8883 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    The tt250 has what I'm assuming is a vacuum line that runs to the carburetor. It also has one that runs to the intake. What do I do with these lines as there is no place to connect them on the nibbi?

    • @Josh-ux6zz
      @Josh-ux6zz 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I was wondering this as well lol. I came here in hopes of some validation. No luck. What did you decide to do. I’m guessing it’s an egr or something? The line going to the carb might just be so it can burn the exhaust gas. Thought about just replacing it with a catch can and eliminating the current setup.

    • @yeahrightbear8883
      @yeahrightbear8883 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @Josh-ux6zz I ended up not using the nibbi at all because I couldn't get it to fit in there, and I didn't know what to do with those lines. Instead, I just dialed in the carburetor it came with with the jet kit. After a lot of trial and error, I finally got it to where it runs a lot better than stock. It has a lot more power and isn't backfiring nearly as much. I'm still using it as my primary transportation in the warmer months, and it's been great.

    If I ever caught somebody who was working for me bending up hose clamps like you just did I would fire them immediately. What is wrong with you?

    • @mototaco6603
      @mototaco6603  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      single counterbalanced cylinder produces most of its vibration in the head of the motorcycle ironically right where the intake manifold of where the nibbi carburetor is mounted. what happens over time and there are documented cases of this happening; is the low-thread contact of the metal belt on the hose clamps paired with the vibrations caused them to back off of each other typically in the range of something extremely small like 250-500 miles. everything might be well and good for the next couple of miles until the lubrication of the fuel air mixture paired with the NIBBI pressing against the frame of the hawk causes the carburetor itself to be pushed off of the manifold causing immediate power loss. this happened to me once before in the pine barrens and I realized it was the hose clamps coming loose and allowing the rubber intake adapter to fail. having no tools on me at the time, I had to screw the hose clamps back on with my credit card. high vibrations and the nature of the dual sport motorcycles off-road environments don't exactly make this a possibility- they make this an inevitability.
      so the question is; in the imperfect science of the aftermarket world. what do we do? you could over-tighten the hose clamps. but this causes the adapter to SQUEEZE itself off of the intake manifold over time. bending the residual metal of the leftover thread belt of the hose clamp into the flathead screwdriver recesses of the hose clamp screws is a non-destructive method of preventing this issue. there are other ways as well. there's threadlock putty.. or like many diesel mechanics, you can lockwire the tops closed with some high tensile safety wire essentially rendering every other option less effective. i have since lock wired my hose clamps. however for a simple carb install video i didn't want to begin a lesson on safety wiring- and wire twisting pliers may not be a part of every vice-grip mechanics repertoire.
      though since its a relatively old video, it may be time for an update

    I just got a very similar Templar 250 (pre-assembled because I'm lazy). There's a hose dangling from the bottom/left side of the (stock) carb and I'm not sure where it goes. I think it's an air/vacuum line that attaches to the air box (?). It'll start up and idle just fine but when I give it even just a little throttle it's stalls out. There's also another separate hose that I think connects to the gas cap but the other end goes...??? Any thoughts would be highly appreciated!!

    • @scottyguinn203
      @scottyguinn203 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Yikez I from crankcase got clear tubing, ran it up next to air box w a mini pod filter on it ... Then used plastic bag w rubber bands in air box tiny hole so it's blocked, if mini pod issue arises I'll just route tubing over chain as is n use the kick back oil to go in chain ... The air box plug is over chain also so if it kicks oil back u just let a drip.

I think a 115 main jet is what I want just waiting on the extra jets to come.
