    My last reply had tons of typos I apologize I have a permanent fix for the rear axle coming loose you simply turn the axle around put the nut on the other side that way when torque is applied it actually turns the axle in a way that tightens the nut it's a simple permanent fix please share this with others I have fixed two Hawks so far you can reach a lot more people than I can

    Invaluable video for someone looking to own one of these bikes. There are a lot of small things that break on these so people can watch out for and remedy these known issues before they happen. That back wheel getting ready to come out, scary!..Looking forward to seeing more mods, performance tests and another 10,000 miles more!

    Hey buddy you're the guy that talked me into buying a hawk DLX 250 I was thinking I do want to do a big bore upgrade to it and starts as a 230cc and the upgrade usually brings it to 250cc not 300 in the case of upping it to 250cc I believe there wouldn't be any fueling issues I'm sure the injector has a little room in case it really needs to get very rich and I'm thinking if it isn't true 300cc upgrade it would create a lot of Heat

    Oh, yeah! thats bitchn...I have about 1500 miles on mein falke. It is great to get ideas and gearhead info so easily. I run the plain-jane looking 28 nibbi carb with a modified airbox. So, it appears stock and I have less fear of gettin caught in the rain or wet. A nibbi hi output coil w/ stock cdi. FREE FLOWING stock exhaust & muffler, hint. I just finished the 17/45 sprocket swap (wow). No overbore in mine but I like cams in V8's. Maybe such a trick in a single cylinder engine will round-out gains thus far! Kool video!

      I've been thinking about that and they Comstock 230cc the Big Bore Kit supposedly the 300cc turns it into a true 250cc so you're only getting an extra 20 CC so I have to imagine that I can put the Big Bore Kit on the EFI version and the fueling could handle an extra 20 CC without any modification and while I have it off a slight port and Polished job on the head and I plan on doing a little bit to the airbox taking some baffling out of the exhaust all of that in combination should wake this thing up

    I'm curious if you had to wire the bolts because the loctite wasnt holding? did you try red loctite? I'd be slightly concerned if the vibrations are bad enough to be breaking the loctite loose lol. I'm considering purchasing one of these bikes as my first bike for country road riding and maybe occasional off road trails but nothing crazy. How would you rate the vibration issue? and is it too much or is it decent in your opinion? or anyone else's opinion in the comments.

    Have you changed the stator, they say it only lasts 5,000 miles because of being A/C firing the exciter coil burns out fast. The ohms reading should be .300ohms from the red/black wire to ground with multimeter set to 2k. And as you put on the miles the exciter coil ohms go down and the limit is about 170ohms before it can leave you stranded????😮 it cost about $25 on Amazon to fix and you wont get a spark until you change the $25 stator.😅

    Do you think the increase in power is worth the cost of the big bore kit?

    • @mototaco6603
      @mototaco6603  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      the increase in power is not massive however it is noticeable

    • @johne3999
      @johne3999 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I heard the big bore kit makes it a true 250cc engine. The hawks engine is only 229cc in it's stock form. So that's about a 9% increase in displacement with the big bore kit. If I were to guess, I'd think you'll get an extra 1hp - 1.5hp on top of the 16.5hp the hawk has.. So pretty small gains, but It's not just about the power, it's about the fun of taking the engine apart. So if that doesn't seem like fun to you, don't do it. To me, it's a fun mod that doesn't cost a lot. So it's worth it.

    • @johnvolstad5870
      @johnvolstad5870 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Mr. Math says the 70mm bore x 65mm stroke equals 250.1cc. At least it becomes a true 250 not a weenie 229. Machine shop took 2mm from the sleeve, and 2mm from the deck to get some compression.

    • @jacobfulton5106
      @jacobfulton5106 ปีที่แล้ว

      ive offroaded my hawks more than ive offroaded my renowned (kawi, zuki, hond, yahama etc..) bikes and i can speak to their capability offroad. it may be a mental thing aswell. since if you crash and damage the bike the cost is far less than a japanese repair. just treat it the same as you would a normal dirt bike. so rim locks, make sure bolts are tight, threadlock, locktite, always put high octane etc. ive revved the snot out of these hawks for years and they are loads of fun

      the gauges read speed in MPH even says on the dial itself. so im not sure why it wouldnt read miles in the same distance. something i can probably test though

      @mototaco6603 I see your point there, I've always heard that it was in kilometers. Guess it wouldn't be hard at all to test it, but I never thought about doing it. When it's time to ride, I just think about riding

    • @Hardy_boy1
      @Hardy_boy1 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Did a test today it's in miles, I just remember motocheez and some people on Facebook saying it's kilometers.

    Safety wire wrapped around bolts? Just get new nylock nuts, not crappy cheap ones but good nylocks will stay. The plastic on the cheap Chinese nuts is too soft and doesn’t hold worth a damn.

    • @mototaco6603
      @mototaco6603  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      This is the better solution, just order a metric set of nylon self locking nuts. Or locktite if you dont mind chipping it off every now & then

    • @mototaco6603
      @mototaco6603  ปีที่แล้ว

      Loctite is very underrated. I take things apart too often that’s why sometimes I opt for the wire. But I’ve rarely ever seen a loctited nut ever thread off. Even with low thread contact

      @@mototaco6603 Here by us in South Africa it works well, and you can remove bolts and nuts without any hassle. I use it on my racing Polo with polyurethane engine mounts and it works great.
