If you look at the dirt impact behind the water bottles it definitely looks like the 30cal is carrying a lot more energy after going through the bottle
Good video, thanks for the observations 👍🔪⚔️🗡️. I keep hitting things with the edge of my Espada when deploying it for fun😂.
Thanks. Much appreciated.
As to the context of the video, i believe both positive and negative energies can be transferred to an object. That energy then can be transferred back to someone else or to the original caster as needed. Alchemy calls this transmutation "enchanting" ...and im not a believer , as belief leaves room fir doubt...but i know what i know because of what ive experienced. 😎🤘
Nice, this is a beautiful answer, thank you. I’ve been interested in symbols and talismans for a long time but I have never seriously looked into them since I don’t really believe in them either. But I found, I didn’t buy, this rock which has opened up a bit more curiosity in me.
What kind of watch was that? I gotta get a new watch
Hello, it’s a Garmin Instinct 2x solar tactical in coyote brown. If you end up liking it I would recommend a screen protector since the original scratches easily.
Good Luck 🍀🤞 !
Ahh, that’s to be determined.
Soda can lid
Ha ha. Don’t demystify it like that.
Nice knife, but for me, a true skinner should be as thin a blade as possible, in my own opinion, just saying ,turned out great, though .God bless you and your family .Lee
Thanks for the advice. I wanted to go with the safe option in the end since I can always take material off. Maybe in the future he’ll have me thin the blade down. God bless you and your family too.
Unfortunately, so many of what, otherwise may be an interesting and informative video fails miserably because the producer/s have not rehearsed the vocals. the 'umming & ahhhing' and general hesitations make listening untenable let alone tedious.......take/make a kittle more effort to rehearse, it will pay dividends in getting views 👍.
Thanks for the tip. I’ve gotten this a lot and I like to believe that I have improved in my most recent videos.
@@totesmalotes, Appreciate your response and that you have taken my observations in good part 👍An interesting subject and your content is good. Stay with it.
@@PeterBel-Ford thanks, I appreciate it.
Sorry but that's not patina. That's corrosion pitting. Some guys can't take care of carbon steel. There is nothing wrong with that. More corrosion resistant steel or coating (DLC, good consistent patina,...) are way to go. Does your father insists on carbon steel?
There’s some patina in there. Yeah, my dad wanted something that was easy to sharpen so I suggested carbon steel.
the fake knives come from the same part of the world the originals were made so why would there besuch a big difference ?
Same area, different manufacturers.
@@totesmalotes same specs same manufacturing process maybe different materials but again who buys these knives for work horses mostly just to cut up boxes.
@@DLN-ix6vf I wouldn’t say same specs. The material was thicker in some places. Two washers were used instead of one so the thickness would line up with the back spacer. And the whole locking mechanism has lower tolerances which was what caused the knife to fail. This isn’t an exact replica made with the same tooling sold at a lower price, it’s someone copying a knife using the cheapest methods and materials possible while still being able to deceive people that it’s the genuine knife. If this knife wasn’t sold as a self defense knife then it wouldn’t matter if it wasn’t extremely tuff. But as a self defense knife I want the extra strength, I’m also paying for it.
@ in Canada a guy is selling Cold Steel AD20.5 for $60.00 delivered which sells for $260.00 retail. Price alone should tell you but $60.00 ?
@ I don’t have the information you do but I would think that the $60 knife is fake. I don’t have anything against buying a fake knife as long as the buyer knows it’s fake. And I believe that, in this case, the original is better in terms of build quality. Whether it’s worth it is up to who buys it.
Is that steel already heat treated? If so, where did you get it ?
Hello, I ground the steel to shape and then sent it to be professionally heat treated by Peters’ Heat treating, which I would highly recommend.
@totesmalotes don't they have a 5 blade minimum? Also, where did you purchase the stock ? Looking for a good supplier
@@GerstBladeworks they’ll do one blade at a time. I bought this Magnacut from USAknifemaker. I’ve also used New Jersey Steel Baron and Alpha Knife Supply. For European steels, Eurotechni is good.
I commented on the video asking about the name of that big knife, but then a few minutes later, I found out you made it yourself- that's really awesome! By the way, what's the best way to sharpen the espada?
Hello, thank you. I sharpen my Espada with a diamond stone now. The one I have has a 300 grit and a 1000 grit side. The brand is Trend which is expensive. Sharpal has a similar stone for less. This, with a leather strop with diamond compound has been the best.
@@totesmalotes Okay, thanks so much for your help! Also, does it come sharp out of the box? Should I sharpen it when I receive it, or is that not necessary?
@@totesmalotes I have no experience with sharpening knives, so do you have any tips or advice for beginners?
@@UnknownX.Trash-Gxng6 I don’t want to say for sure but every Cold Steel knife that I have bought new has been very sharp.
@@UnknownX.Trash-Gxng6 I would check out TH-camr Outdoors55 videos on how to sharpen with a stone. I already knew how to sharpen before I watched his videos but I learned a lot more from him.
What is the best way to sharpen the Espada XL? And what is the name of that extremely large knife shown in the video?
If you don't skin your animals, you must eat a lot of those chickens? You're a feather plucker.
I don’t eat these chickens. They’re just for eggs. I do eat chicken but just not these.
That knife will be around for 300 years.
It's shaped like an old Green River Forge knife passed down through my family for over three generations.
@@g.b.1375 I looked up the green river forge knife and yes it looks almost exactly like this except it’s a little shorter. Seems like a popular shape.
This butcher/skinning knife is old pattern from Sheffield. Quite popular shape in England back then. Similar to German pattern.
@@Vamtal nice. Thanks for the info.
Great video bro
Thanks. I appreciate it.
how long is the blade ?
Hello, the blade is 6 and a 1/4 inches, in a straight line.
i make knives
Nice. I find it soothing.
I really like it it's my type maybe about thinner like 1 1/2 inch wide but I'd absolutely falling love with it just the way it is bro honestly a fantastic Knife it is not a combat knife it needs to be able to Peirce 4-6 inches to reach vitals
Thank you, your very kind. This knife isn’t my own design, and I don’t remember where I saw it, but I believe the original had a 3 inch long blade. This knife has a 6 and 3/4 inch blade even though it looks stubby. I messed around with the dimensions when drawing it so that it would look stubby. Not sure why in hindsight.
@totesmalotes fantastic Job for sure Bowie is my favorite design classic you know the dagger used by Fairbairn Sikes the fighting knife my vote is for you to recreate that in a small EDC format or Mabey a bigger than originally produced version with your own twist or something
@@troybradley8647 thanks for the suggestion. I’m actually working on my next EDC knife and it has a leaf shaped blade. A smaller or larger Fairbairn Sikes would be interesting, maybe in the future.
Missed the mark on scale choice and rivets. Epic fail😢
I take small solace in that it was epic.

Old Hickory Skinner 2.0. Now in Magnacut! Hmm… I kind of like it.
the cts-xhp if i spell it correct arent avaible anymore correct? also im gonna buy the Cold Steel XL Espada Black folding knife, black CS62MGCBKBK and u said the cts-xhp has better grip then the g10 version so is it also better then the cs62?
@@UnknownX.Trash-Gxng6 the all black CTS XHP version has G10 handles too. The difference from the CTS XHP version and the one you said you’re going to buy is that the texture on the CTS XHP version is rougher, which I think is better.
@totesmalotes ooh okay thx!
nice video, also how do you make it sharp again? what is the best way.
@@UnknownX.Trash-Gxng6 I use a diamond stone that has two sides. One is 350 grit and the other is 1000 grit. This and a strop with diamond emulsion will work on everything. Check out Outdoors55 if you have a chance.
"In your thumbnail, the two knives on the left appear to have different blade finishes-one looks stonewashed, and the other looks shiny. The same applies to the knife on the far right, which has a grey and black shiny finish. My question is, are these blades different, and where can I buy them? I was only able to find the grey and black non-shiny blade, as well as the standard black and silver non-shiny version."
@@UnknownX.Trash-Gxng6 hello, if understand correctly, your asking about the CTS XHP Espada XL. These have shiny black blades because they are DLC coated and, from what I understand, the newer Espada XL with the black blade is not DLC coated but coated with something else that isn’t shiny. The only place I know of to get a CTS XHP Espada XL is eBay since they stopped making them a long time ago. There is a lot of fakes now so be careful with that.
My god man formulate your thoughts before making a video. I wanted to watch your content, but it was just too damn painful listening to you stumbling all over yourself. Sorry to be so harsh…
No, what your saying is true. Accurate criticism is constructive criticism. Thanks.

Thank you. We’ll see how it goes.
@totesmalotes that's where it starts 😎
Dont forget taxes (which is theft, but that is another rant)
Oh dang, I forgot to include taxes. Sales tax where I’m from is 8.75% I think. And I agree taxation is theft.
Sweet! Hope it goes quick, Good Luck with it You might want to offer a sheath option for an additional $40-ish bucks or so ---- if it was more to my tastes (and I had the money) I would -----(I prefer stainless and synthetics LC200N/Z-Finit and G10 or Terotuf)
Offering a sheath makes sense but I don’t really have a huge amount of confidence in my sheath making skills. Sometimes they come out perfect and other times I’m fighting with them the whole way. I might offer a sheath later on if I make a decent one for it. Lc200n and TeroTuf is a good combo.

I was lucky enough to score a Marek hunter knife with an antler grip. My godfather made a custom sheath for it.
Very nice, and with an antler grip. Fancy.
FYI, both Lee & Wrangler make jeans with much deeper front pockets than Levis, and the material is higher quality. After jean shopping for the first time in over a decade, I've found that Wrangler & Lee jeans are actually superior to Levi's, and fashionable, which wasn't the case in the past. Both brands are made by the same company. Lee in particular sells these MVP jeans, that are meant for maximum movement. You can literally run in them. I'm not 💩 on Levis. They just don't make a lot of flexible jeans, which is very important to me. I don't know much about the fancier jeans brands. I have like 12 pairs of Lucky jeans that don't fit me anymore. I don't remember how deep the front pockets were. I just know that Lee & Wrangler make fashionable jeans for guys who want more movement, like to wear big boots, carry XL Cold Steel folders, and typically an IWB pistol and an extra IWB mag.
I haven’t gone shopping for jeans in a long time too. Thanks for the info I appreciate it.
Excellent video. I've always wanted to see how these look in pockets. Personally, I always wear shirts that hang down past my pockets, so people seeing the top of the knife isn't a big issue. Printing is the bigger issue. I've owned a Voyager XL Clip Point for about 6 years now. In prints in some jeans and not others. That said, I'm almost always appendix carrying a 9mm pistol and a 2nd mag. That somehow makes the knife print less.
Thanks. Voyager is a good knife.
looks like its a couple decades old. lol. your dad must use it quite often
Yeah, he uses it all the time at work. What’s probably aged the knife the most is that he’s cut sod with it every now and then.
Hello! I am interested in your work. Where can i buy a knife?
Hello, I’m going to put up a knife for sale on eBay later on. I’m just being lazy about it. When I put it for sale I’ll make a video to tell everyone. It might not be your style but thanks for inquiring.
@@totesmalotes Ill check it out, What is your ebay account?
I'm so happy I found your channel, and especially this video. I have about 100 knives, from machetes and kukri's, to Puukko's and hunting knives, to military knives and edc's. This video is important because I'm an advocate of CPM 3V, and I was pleasantly surprised at its ability to overcome 80CRV2 in edge retention and partial rust repellency. I have the Cold Steel Kukri's in SK5 and O1, and they will begin to discolor in a room with high humidity, which is unsettling for me. I have a Roselli large puukko in his proprietary ultra high carbon wootz, and it doesn't seem to show rust at all, nor does my Bark River Bravo in A2 steel. I've subscribed to your channel, and look forward to your videos. I'm certainly impressed with your channel.
Great video.
Thank you.
Of all the times I can think of when you really want a knife to be "strong and sharp" the primary would most definitely be in the case of self defense against (insert here). I should NOT have to be concerned in the least over the fact that the sheath that was produced to protect the knife AND its owner from injury or incidental edge damage. So I'm hunting and a wild boar decides to rouse up and attack after being shot and I am expected to drag the spine of my knife against the inside of the sheath to protect the edge? The human mind and body do not react in high stress situations the way they would when all is "normal". The only way to overcome those problems is to TRAIN until your reactions become reflex and muscle memory with no forethought. See the problem here? This is exactly why my Trailmasters have HEAVY reinforced leather or properly made kydex sheathing😂
Hi, can you approximate the grits of the fine and ultra fine? thanks
Hello, I would approximate ultra fine to around 3000 grit and fine to like 800 grit maybe.
I've heard every EXCUSE (and that's what they are) for these SUCK CURE EX sheathes. This stuff isn't real Kydex to begin with. Real Kydex is much better. I have a Carbon V Ghurkha Khukuri made in the early 2000s. Actual Kydex heavy sheath. Has never damaged the knife except small scratches. Every CS knife I own with Suckcurex dulls its occupant. What I have decided to do is correct these problems by simply removing the rivets that hold them together, smoothing out internal rub spots, and simply replacing them. Much easier and less expensive than having new sheathes made. Keep your sheathes as CLEAN as possible on the inside. I don't care what they're made of. Excessive oil grabs grit and dirt and turns it into a slurry , and it will SAND your knife all to hell very slowly. I.have been a CS customer since 1987. When a proper kydex sheath is made by someone who knows what they're doing , most makers use a layer of blue painters tape on the knife when the knife is press molded around it. They don't leave rough spots, excessive protrusions or broken or bent eyelet rivets (Im not kidding) with fragments of metal sticking out inside the sheath to screw up your knife. The fit and finish on these things is DISGUSTING. CS could've put a simple welt in between the halves of the sheath for the edge to rub against IF it made contact. Combination leather and kydex sheathes are common place
You bought that many espadas?
Yes, yes I did.
Deeeeahblow
Maybe if it was spelled that way I would believe you.
The biggest problem I have with the Espada XL design is that when you grip it in the foremost position very tightly the pressure of my grip slightly depresses the lock disengagement and then the blade lock partially disengages and it has some vertical play. It's a flawed design. I own four Espada XL's, three black G10 scales with polished aluminum bolsters, two have CTS-XHP blades and the other has an S35VN blade, and I have one with the G10 scales with an S35VN blade(and the G10 scales version is even worse that the polished aluminum bolsters model for the lock disengagement design flaw) and I've handled good deal more and they all have this flaw. The lock disengagement only needed to have been moved a half inch or so down the handle and there wouldn't have been a problem, basically if it had been located where it is on the Talwar XL it would've been fine. Cold Steel figured this out but by the time they did the knife had become iconic and if they had then changed the design questions would've been asked as to why, and they didn't want to provide the answer obviously. I prefer the Talwar XL as it doesn't have this design flaw. The large Espada with polished aluminum bolsters and black G10 scales doesn't have this issue occur as much, but the large with the G10 scales is as bad as the others. It's not a secret as I've found quite a few Cold Steel collectors that know about this flaw but it's not well known. Try it out for yourself but prepare yourself for the disappointment when you feel and hear the little " Click " and then pinch the blade and feel the blade play. Nice collection. I bought mine when I went a little manic with my money, then stopped after I discovered the flaw. I like the Large Espada with the polished aluminum bolsters and black G10 scales a whole lot more than the rattling XL now!
The flaw with the triad lock was mentioned to me when I made a video about the Atlas lock but I never experimented with it enough to know which models were affected by it more. I appreciate you taking the time to point out this flaw and you adding that the Talwar XL has it less. I’ll check out this flaw on the knives I have.
I edc the espada xl along with my leatherman surge and bit kit with no problem
Nice. Ready for anything.
Great video - thanks for putting it together and posting it!
No problem. Thanks.
Thanks, you saved me some money. I really dont think it they should've sold that knife with the off-center blade and damaged nut. I'd also assumed Tod actually made them, which is apparently not the case.
No problem. When I looked into it I found that India was where most people said the knives were made, but who knows for sure.
Good review! I love the idea with the large chunks of ice
Thank you. The large ice has worked well for me so I’m glad to pass along the idea.
I honestly disagree with the 1st 3 issues you have. I am 6ft 230lbs of juice head. I do not wear baggy clothes. I rock it in the pocket of all my different pants and jeans with zero problems you are experiencing. No seatbelt issue, no hip issue or movement restrictions but I rock pocket (inside wasteband would be illegal where I'm at with blade length and concealed). And my jackets don't really go past my pocket, they all stop at the hip. I also tried it with flannels as the seemed longer than my coats and no matter how slow or fast I drew with the pocket flip feature I could not re create it possible cutting my garment. I have a feeling that the knife may be a little to large for your body size. That's why I added my stats in this reply. I even carry a large phone in a thick case in the same pocket as my espada xl. So this is a good video with the caption as " smaller guys with espada xl carry issues" , because that vould be helpful and that's the only think I can think of why you are having these issues. Not a dig by any means, just observing and trying to help out.
I understand what your saying but I’m average. I should have included that in the video. I’m 5’10” and weigh 180 pounds. But yeah if you’re bigger then that does simplify things when carrying this knife.
very good job-reminds me alittle of the old timer deer slayer
