I bought a CTS XHP Cold Steel Espada from eBay and it was fake. I make a comparison with a real one in this video to hopefully prevent people from being tricked.
During self defense I'm sure the baddy will point out these issues and make me cry. I'll tell the jury I was too poor to afford the over priced CS and I'll get less time.
No problem. My favorite Cold Steel knives are the CTS XHP versions which makes this fake so frustrating to me. I bought mine from eBay so I’ll return it but I still have to go through the whole process of doing that, which is annoying.
@@totesmalotes yes, annoying. I've never returned to Ebay but it doesn't sound like an experience I need. I don't have any with XHP. I have older (Japanese, steel unmarked, Aus 8 & newer Aus 10, S35VN. ) Carbon V in an SRK.
@@tombrown4683 nice collection. I would recommend one in CTS XHP but in reality if you have a knife that you already keep going back to you won’t experience anything new with the CTS XHP version.
Thanks for the video. It would be good to also show the insides with the scale off for reference and maybe a demo of the differences in the action of each
I am trying to figure out if my Cold Steel Spartan is fake or not and came upon your video. I still really can't tell. The quality is so good even when you compare the two Espadas.
Yeah, I went back to see the pictures of the original listing for the fake knife and knowing what I know now it would still be hard to tell that it’s a fake. Even when you have it in hand, you either have to have a lot of experience or another knife you know is real to tell the difference.
@@totesmalotes I have an original Cold Steel Voyager XL Tanto and this much cheaper Cold Steel Lynn Thompson Spartan actually looks, feels and cuts better than it! 😅 th-cam.com/video/APicdmlQDIM/w-d-xo.html
I like CS but get the clones sinc they are coming from the same place anyways and the money is probably getting to the poor people of Taiwan more likely than thru CS
This is a new clone. I might get one just to beat on. I have a real one in tan g10. I wonder what steel china is using sometimes they use 9cr which is pretty good i have a fake spyderco para2 that is really a great knife for $19. I paid
I think this clone is recent too. I compared a fake Rajah to a real one and the fake one wasn’t all that great. I’ve heard a lot of people say they have gotten fakes that are really good too. I think part of it is luck. I contacted the seller to get a refund and they told me to keep the knife along with the money, so I’ll test the knife later on in the future; it might be good.
@@totesmalotes I'd be very interested in how the steel holds up and how it sharpens. Sometimes a crummy steel that is easy to sharpen isn't to bad ya know
@@richardhenry1969 I know what you mean. I’ll do a video in the future. If you want to see me test the knife a certain way let me know. Ideas are always appreciated.
@@totesmalotes you've always did a great job in your other videos. The only thing I could think of was maybe cutting some cardboard and rope. TH-cam really seems to like that. Plus I believe many use knives for breaking down boxes so it's data that everyone can correlate. That's my best idea.
I hate how close fakes have gotten.
I hate it too. I’m hoping I pointed out enough things on the fake knife that people will be able to spot them. Which makes me feel a little better.
It's almost likes its coming from the same factory WOW
@@adamm3492 how is that you're takeaway? did you not see the differences?

Thanks for the PSA. I have thought of keeping an eye open for a Cold Steel in XHP. Good to know about the fakes.

Beware of fakes on eBay and Amazon. :-) Peace, Stiletto :-)
It’s good to mention Amazon too. Thanks.
Thanks for the informative video. I was wondering if you could weigh the two knives see if there's a difference.
Hello, I am going to make another video on this knife where I’m going to test it but I don’t have a scale to weigh it. If I get one by then I will.
Excellent video and thank you so much! I'm more confident in buying one now that I know what a fake will look like!
I’m glad it helped.

Where did you buy the fake?
