  • I kind of finished my fancy Bowie in Vanadis 4 Extra. There is still some minor things I might change but I still don’t know if I will.

Good work. The liners make that handle look awesome.

Thanks. So far it seems pretty cool. Kind of. I know the copper is going to scratch super easy. But I’ll make another video on it after I wear it for a while.

very interesting handle design, like it alot

Thank you. The flared out parts keep the knife from flying out and the rectangle cross section prevents the knife from twisting in my hand. It would hurt though to hit something hard repeatedly.

@@totesmalotes indeed! as well I'm very partial to how well the edge indexs in your hand with a rectangular grip.

The handle design came out refreshingly good. The flatness, the waist, copper details make it stand out in a good way. Well done on that part.
The blade seems like not your style, i think you could have gone bigger on the clip point length, make it less steep, you know, for the poke part. Overall i like it. But the blade looks a little too chunky, may be that was your goal, idk.

Thank you for your input it has always helped. I agree with you that the blade doesn’t feel like what I usually make. Maybe that’s why I’m not too excited about it, but it was the fanciest blade shape I could think of for a smaller knife. I did want the blade to look big since I knew I was making the handle small. I knew the handle would be heavy because of the copper but I didn’t know how it would balance out. I did want it to look this way but I don’t know how I feel about it. I don’t have the same confidence in making smaller knives as I do large ones. You make some super nice medium sized knives, which is why I appreciate the things you point out. Hope you’re doing well.

@@totesmalotesIt does look fancy, i admit, and big for a small knife. Im okay, doing some knives. Having a new one for myself, and its cpm 3v finally.

@@rtknifeandsword9618 nice. Even though I’ve tried a few new steels I still really like 3v. I’m working on some 3v knives too. Hopefully you’ll put up some videos of your 3v knife. It is a pain to work with though.

It doesn’t look bad. The handle looks great. I believe the tall blade makes it look different then I’m used to. If the blade was 11/2in. is more used then old time knives.
What type of usage are you looking for.
I’m thinking about making a fixed blade with a longer handle. I’m thinking 4.5in-5in blade then say 5.5 handle. The handle is the hard part. The best I can describe would be a coffin with dips. Kinda like yours but a little bit square. That doesn’t mean it will work though just a thought.
How is the balance with a black that tall?
I like big knives as well but I’m looking for something that can do everything but carry comfortably. Until I get some kydex I carry a coldsteel SRK-C everyday. I’m really liking that size. I carry with a loop on the inside the belt. Makes it hard to see and very comfortable. The 6in version just isn’t comfortable unless it’s hanging down!
Can’t wait to see what you come up with. Plus I’m interested in have that design handles?

Hello, nice to hear from you. I want this knife just for everyday things. Most of all I want for it to carry comfortably so I’ll actually wear it.
A knife with a 5.5inch handle would be interesting. I made a coffin handle that was square before. The handle felt good and it wouldn’t twist in my hand but if I chopped for too long the edges on the square handle would create hot spots.
The balance point is actually pretty good; it’s right in front of the hand guard. The knife overall is heavy because of all the copper.
I’m planning to make a sheath with loops for my belt too so I can carry the knife in waistband. We’ll see how that works out. It seems we’re both looking for the same thing currently. I’m looking forward to how this knife handles. Thanks and good luck.
