    Same here with the increasing level of noise. Also had 2 of the 3 plastic motor mounts break - I never dropped it so that was a surprise. I did drop the plastic record clamp and that broke so I bought the metal one and it works fine. It came with a clear plastic record-sized disc to keep the underside of the record from getting dirty/wet again from the vent but that cracked so it was unusable (used a junk 10 inch record instead). Other than those, absolutely no issues 😊

    my most memorable music experiences were back in the sixties on a one to two hundred dollar system . music listening in those days was all about the subjective state of the listener , not the external gear. but it was stressful to stay that high all of the time so i opted for some nice equipment . i ended up with a pair of Polk SDA speakers ,85 lbs each , a Carver magnetic field amp , a no name pre amp and a sony walkman professional that sat on top of one of the speakers .😂 when i told the salesman what my source would be , he looked at me bug eyed and gave me directions to the nearest psych ward . the room had a vaulted ceiling and was about ten by twenty with a couch strategically placed for optimum listening . the room size and shape was irrelevant as it became readily apparent that the speakers and amp could melt walls with astounding clarity .

    I have the Gregory Porter live Recording Edition. Sounds good, but there is audible hum and noise and the recording balance is not 100% my taste (singer to much in the background). 444€ is a lot of money, I expected better sound. I also got the Nina Simone "I put a spell on you" picture disk - this one really sounds superb.

    I just bought a 1210GR and had it delivered last Friday. I also own a VPI Classic 1 30th Anniversary. I will look at the stand because it looks marvelous. My questions: So it seems that you can add extra feet that will fit under this new wood base, I'm looking at the IsoAcoustic Gaia III? Do you use your additional weight on the counterweight with your cartridges as I noticed that my numbers seemed off without it on counterwieght scale? I always use a digital scale and shure analog for tracking weight as a counter measure. How accurate did you find the technics white overhang guage, as I still use my Dr. Feickert to double check, is the needle suppose to be slightly over the overhang guage to match the arrow? Have you noticed that when you let down the tonearm lifter the arm slights dips, but recovers before going on to the record? My goal buying this besides sound was to quickly change between cartridges with a good mono cartridge in mind. Thanks for all you do with the videos and it is good to see you back in the mix again Dale.

    • @archifi9978
      @archifi9978 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi thanks for watching. 1. Any feet attach to the turntable. The plinth itself has no threaded holes. My butcher block acoustics stand takes the same "thread" as the 1200.The Gaia feet should work with the Butcher block. And I see no reason for them not to work with the TT and Plinth. 2. I do not need the counterweight since I can level the tonearm without it. However, I know that many do use it with heavier cartridges and/or headshells. For instance, if you want to use an Ortofon SPU, you'll need a counterweight. I'm not certain if the supplied counterweight effects the Technics lid closing. Some larger aftermarket counterweights do not allow the lid to be closed. 3. I aligned my cartridge where the stylus is even with the gage. However, I do not think slight deviation would be a major issue. 4. My tonearm goes down straight. Your tonearm set up may be a bit off. What cartridge do you have? Are you using the stock headshell?

    • @sidvicious3129
      @sidvicious3129 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@archifi9978 I have three head shells and used a dynavector 10x5 stock headshell, Hana EH and a Denon Dl-301mk II. My Hana ML is on the VPI and I have several other cartridges that I will be buying headshells for. The arm goes down, but when it is at its highest point, when lowering, it drops, then smoothly goes down. My goal would be to apply the Gaia feet to the turntable and put the custom plinth around that. So, I get it, no false feet and the plinth is a wrap around, and what ever feet you have go through, thanks. I just didn’t want any obstacles in the way of the Gaias. This is a very good table with excellent bass, drive and pitch. I wasn’t sure if the bass was going to be as good as the VPI, but depending on musical choices, it’s better.

    I totally commiserate with your current position. I have gone through a few systems since the early 70s and quite frankly I love audio as a hobby but I just wanna sit and listen to a nice simple basic system that is high and without all of the interconnects and power cords and tweaks and pokes. Currently looking at the Conrad Johnson Integrated system with built-in DAC. That system runs about 50 K, I’m going to have to check and see if it’s got an upgradable DAC but I doubt it. Thanks for that thought. Good luck!

    When I was in my teens I was just grateful to have any type of record player, but when I started earning extra overtime money I was able to buy new equipment, then the budget got better & I started with my first HiFi system with separate speakers which I felt was the best thing ever, then came the separate units & I then thought I again had the best system,& in the late 80s the real HiFi came to me & I made up my system of everything possible Turntable.. Speakers.. Tape Deck.. Receiver.. Amp.. CD Player.. then when the £££s started getting more I upgraded my system & to this day I still have my beloved Turntable & Integrated Amp, but the rest I have changed, But like you have done I have now sold the Receiver.. Tape Deck & changed speakers. Yes I have upgrade the likes of Tonearm.. Stylus Turntable mat & CD Player, but that is as much as I need being in my mid 70s & with a pair of old Monitor Audio R352 which I had given to me & a Burson Fun Headphone amp with V6 Vivid OpAmps fitted I'm still rocking & loving what I have.🎸🎧🎶🎼

    Had the same issue. They sent me the ALU as a replacement machine as my VC-2 had the same issue. I've had the ALU for a year and the vacuum arm is now corroded (using their record cleaner) and the vacuum sounds like yours. BTW, if you send it for repair out of warranty, they ask you to include a check for $160 which is the minimum. They could easily offer a new vacuum for $75 - $100 and let the user replace but they won't as they don't make any money.

    sorry to say that system doesn't compare half as well on sound quality grounds that you can get with a pair of active ATC dynamic loudspeakers , with far more real sounding vocals and instrument interpretation . You have wasted a lot of money here on your amplification alone , never even mind taking into account the cost of your source and loudspeakers . You could have bought a pair of ATC SCM ASL MONITORS , on the amount of money wasted on your passive audio system here 🤔🙄😳🤣

    active dynamic loudspeakers like ATC SCM ASL and their entry level active dynamic loudspeakers absolutely walk over the vast majority of so called passive audiophile audio systems , when it comes to realistic sounds of vocals and instruments . The amount of money people waste on a passive audio equipment and passive loudspeakers is mind boggling , when audio quality can be done more right the first time around , by spending your money right the first place first time around .

    I came on a Vincent SV-700 integrated deal about 2 years ago, and I am still loving it. It will run 50 good watts class A, or 120 watts class AB with the push of a button. I listened to the Luxmans, but they were VERY expensive. The luxmans had an easy to listen to sound, but were somewhat lacking to my ears. The Vincent had more bass, with a very clean upper range. I did change the Chinese tubes out for good Russian tubes, and I am very happy. The 700's are usually $4,500, but because of a new Vincent model with bluetooth included, they have been selling for $3,500 new. It is huge, and weighs about 50 lbs though, so it may be too big for some small audio racks. It is also quite a beast to move. The Vincent has no phono amp, but I am really loving my Graham Slee phono amp quite a bit, for a long time now.

    I recently bought a LOKI and I liked it enough to get the LOKIUS. I don't know if its because I am using RCA to its input and XLR from its output, but the sound changes and/or gets louder even when all six knobs are at the default 12 position. The LOKI didn't do that, with the LOKI, having the knobs at 12 didn't change anything. You had to turn the dials to get any changes in loudness or coloring. The LOKI doesn't support XLR so am I correct in thinking the loudness change is the result of using XLR on the Lokius?
