I have a Naim NAC202/HiCap driving KEF R7s & R3s via Linn Lk240 monoblocks. Bass is noticeably absent though. Used to have a Luxman L-120A & B&W DM7 mk2s back in '83 (!!) .. and playing something like Grace Jones' 'Nightclubbing' album (or Elvis Costello's 'This Year's Model', say) on my current setup, I'm struck by how much is missing in comparison. Do you think a sub-woofer would be much of a solution .. and might you have any suggestions for an affordable unit ? (times are hard !).
I'm guessing the same. I had a First Watt J2 and it ran hotter than the Luxman I have now. Much is about the chassis design and heat venting. I've had the 595 on all day for hours and its just warm to the touch.
Thanks for watching. Since the unit is taller than my previous amp and Class A (amp gets hotter than most) I wanted to make sure I have good enough ventilation. When I get a new rack/shelf the Luxman can share the top rack with my TT

sorry to say that system doesn't compare half as well on sound quality grounds that you can get with a pair of active ATC dynamic loudspeakers , with far more real sounding vocals and instrument interpretation . You have wasted a lot of money here on your amplification alone , never even mind taking into account the cost of your source and loudspeakers . You could have bought a pair of ATC SCM ASL MONITORS , on the amount of money wasted on your passive audio system here 🤔🙄😳🤣

I would try a sub. I love bass...So I plan on always having a sub (or two)

mine is around 39 celsius, all day on. in a air con room set at around 23 celsius. mine is 590ax ii.
What phono preamp are you using?
Hi I'm using the built-In phono of the Luxman. Sounds fantastic. I had previously an ELAC PPA-2 phono pre which was excellent as well.
