I have separates with a tube amp. Because I do a fair amount of headphone listening and my preamp has a headphone amp, I really value not having to power up the tube amp when using headphones which would wear out the tubes and waste energy.
Separated component are much better. I have used both and separates usually provide better sound qualitity (authoritary base, clear mids and open highs) all depend on your speakers as usual
Benchmark LA4 pre + Quad 909 power … 3500 USD … very compact combo of separates Now, I feel I would need 7-10K integrated to get same quality driving my Neat Acoustics Motive 1 stand-mounts

Good points. Thanks for watching
IMO pre-amps are dinosaurs. Then again, I've decided that digital is the only method to store and recall music.

The LA4 is a great Pre. Check out the Schiit amps. The Vidar has compared favorably to the benchmark ABH2 at only $699.
