Why do a bulk of the modern audience think this nonsense is now canon? Surely they can't seriously think so, considering its cut down from 10 episodes down to a mere 90 minutes with idiotic retcon changes shoehorned in under from the perspective of one person? Sorry its just has to viewed to be a bit of fluff. It was rushed and nonsensical, cutting out a lot of the plot, character development, overlapping scenes and dialogue, with a bunch of retconned stuff thrown in - the second half was a mess. Plus why would you show pictures of the faces of future incarnations and why is it all Nu-Who Doctors, especially as when one of the sketches in the original version looks very much like the 5th doctor, it's just nonsense. People didn't take the truncated Daleks in Colour as canon, so why should they take this canon, especially with the War Chief, just because he was a Timelord with a beard and he was doing bad stuff, why does that automacally makes him the Master, just nonsense. This is just a truncated version of a much better story for the ADHD generation, nothing more. The colourisation was impressive though.

Theoretically if 12 convinced 1 to regenerate this would make the doctor's timeline fixed. The doctor's timeline would become altered slightly from 1-12 by coming a fixed event. The timelords show 2nd doctor 10-13s face because retrospectively the doctor's faces become fixed events. Not random. As a fixed event the doctor would be an immortal, making the timeless child a future event made possible after twice upon a time. This can be used to explain changes when colourising classic stories to fit the current cannons etc. (Just pissing about theorising/ linking random stuff)

Ooh love the books 😍 Cooking with Philter sounds fun and who doesn't love cookies 🍪😁 I was very spoilt by everyone Thanks to Amazon sending two of 2 of my presents I got doublers 🤣 They were The second Doctor and Tardis and Box set of the Peter Cushing film Dr Who and the Daleks (which is an amazing set!!) I also got 1st Doctor and a Dalek set, the Shalka dvd, a timeshock t-shirt and a Bobble hat that was from my partner and kids. My friend bought 3 Dvds (one was the lost stories one) and two large Framed prints which are stunning and I will admit so unexpected I may have shed a tear. My absolute favourite present was the one my two youngest went out and chose themselves with their carers and the message on the front. The Doctor Who Calendar with the different doctors on and the message read " Merry Whomas Mum from M****** , not the grinch and the whoville gang" 🥰😍 Sorry for the long comment 🫣

My Dad passed away in August, he had been a Doctor Who fan since An Unearthly Child. This was the first ever Doctor Who that he will never see, so this colourisation was a strange and sad experience for me. We had a lot of fun last year with The Daleks in colour discussing what worked and what didn’t, what we would have edited differently. I think he would have enjoyed this, especially the new regeneration scene and the War Chief = The Master implication. I feel like this was pretty good overall, but would have benefited from being cut to 2 hours instead of 90 minutes.

I think even 105 minutes would have been better than 90 just to include more linking and useful scenes, including the one in which the Tardis is underwater, leaking.

I long to try tabletop RPGS, but I am lacking in the willing friend department 😂 I was lucky enough to receive the Fluxx card game for Christmas. Now, i just need to nag my partner into him playing it with me.

I first saw the original version way back in 2007, it was one of the first classic stories I saw, the first troughton for sure and one of the very small number I had on VHS before I started getting the dvds, so I am very familiar with it, some parts of the colourisation I thought the new editing really worked, but once they reached the American civil war zone it just went out of control and so much was excised it made the story very hard to follow,everything with the resistance was brushed over so much that I almost thought they were going to be left out then suddenly Russel is there but we aren't told who he is, and then the Mexican guy is just there from nowhere, really needed an extra half hour at least.

My thoughts on the new version: When watching the original, I thought there were bits that were too long but not to the point where whole episodes were padding. I also thought other aspects of the story were too short - for example, the reveal that aliens are involved could have appeared later, and possibly added one more war zone. Personally, I hate the modern requirement that every second of screen time has music under it (or sometimes over it). Some of it almost required a Mel Brooks moment, with the cast turning to the camera and saying "we'd better say that again without the synthesiser". I prefer the War Chief not being the Master - apart from the original intent that he wasn't, there had a very different approach, and the Master has (IMHO) become over used. Therefore: I hope there are more colourisations, but stop changing the music and trying to change the characters.

I would just prefer him to be his own character. Not every character has to tie in with another, and some times that does more harm than good. Such as the massive changes to the Pantheon of Discord recently. Going from the Trickster's organisation to a group of Gods, which sort of brings up more issues. Sutekh would try killing all the gods, while the Toymaker would try playing all of them. It is a confusing thing. Making connections that weren't there before can be done well, but it takes a lot to do that.

I know alot of people liked it but to me I thought it was a massive fail they should had just left it alone as it was I didn't like the colour it looks like paint on film, i didn't like the retcon, showing the change from Troughton to Pertwee kind of spoils the magic of not showing who the next Doctor is as well diminishing the season 6b theory to which I personally didn't like but felt sorry for the ones that did i didnt like the golden regeneration effect added to it RTD should had left it alone in fact it should never had been thought of I found this vandalising cutting out bits of story is not the best way to introduce it to an audience who watches it for the first time padding is part of the story that's how the people wrote and created this in the 60's intended to be that's where it should had stayed.

10 being skinny is a running joke through nuWho so I think it's okay to nod to it

They should have done a two or two and a half hour version. An hour and a half is too heavy of a cut for this story. I know that they are trying to make this accessible, but many modern viewers are okay with the two and a half hour "The End of Time". I didn't like the hints that the War Chief is the Master. In the New Adventures novel Exodus, Terrance Dicks (who came up with the War Chief character and wrote The War Games) brings back the War Chief and writes it in a way to depict the last time the Doctor encountered the War Chief was in The War Games. So, no. The idea that he is the Master is wrong. I too feel the Fugitive Doctor is after Troughton. So, I don't like that at all. And part of Season 6B has to be true for the Second Doctor to remember what happened to Jamie and Zoe after his trial with the Time Lords in The Five Doctors and for he and Jamie to be on missions for the Time Lords in The Two Doctors. I know there is wiggle room for that in this colorized version of The War Games. But, it completely ruins the Fugitive Doctor. I know many people tell me that I am wrong for thinking the Fugitive Doctor should be after the Second Doctor. They claim there is ample evidence that she is pre-First Doctor. But, I cannot find explicit dialog or canon sources to validate that. Maybe I am just missing it. But, then the same people are okay with the War Chief being the Master. I don't know.

It worked for me and my son Adam, he watched with interest . I loved it. I don't mind the implications that the war chief is the Master. Happy new year to you and your family from Andrew.

I felt so lost watching it. I saw the original and understood the plot perfectly. Watching this made me feel like I wasn’t paying attention as important scenes were cut down to momentary montages which made me lose the plot.

I really enjoyed it, I thought they done a good job.I did watch the definitive 10 part story a week before so they did help.The Colourisation was so well done, a big improvement on the Daleks last year.The only 2 negatives for me was them trying to imply the War Chief was the Master, which is a no no for me, and the part where they showed Peter Capaldi, David Tennant and Jodie Whittaker as regeneration choices which was a bit too much fan service for me, but they may be be plus points for other fans.As a Phillip Madoc's acting as The War Lord fantastic as you say.

Well when the War Chief gets dragged away, you can hear the sound of a regeneration in the background. Nice little detail which could be a stepping point for Roger Delgardo's Master for the 3rd Doctor

I enjoyed all parts, of the original and thought the new version worked, until the regeneration, I have no problem with the regeneration it’s self but to have modern doctors was a bit jarring,

I'm hoping the Fugitive Doctor's origins are explained in the Bug Finish box sets shes getting next year.

I never expect too much from a Xmas episode and this falls very much into usual enjoyable fluff slot. I can't say there was anything I really disliked (maybe Joy's Mum joining the star) but it was also fairly light and predictable. Not sure if I saw your other video but as soon as time travel, Joy and a star were mentioned, my mind immediately jumped to Bethlehem. I suspect Moffat added the covid bit in because he hadn't done it earlier and wanted to get it out there in some way. My favourite bits were the year at the Sandringham and the reference to Mr. Benn, which I don't know if you caught it or not. I could have handled a full episode with Fifteen and Anita who, according to the credits, had the surname Benn, I felt really sorry for her when he left but he made up for it. That was definitely The Stowaway you heard, I picked up on it straight away.

Hmmm .. Ruby for me was at least the best companion since Clara .. so not really happy that she is already replaced. So i can just hope the new one is at least decent.

The crypto in Teen Titans was better more accurate to the book. I mean this one’s adorable but not accurate to the book. I have my doubts about this, but I think it’s based on Superman future man of tomorrow, the graphic novel, but don’t quote me on it, but I will be there on the night before opening night and I will see the thing and I will post my Opinion on Facebook as usual

Quite an enjoyable episode, a reasonable 7/10. Highlight for me was the Doctor's year-long stay at the 21st century hotel with Anita, even if it, to the episode's detriment ironically, dragged the pacing down a touch, which also made Joy as a character suffer a bit for me cos she got sidelined. Was a bit corny, but I didn't mind the ending. Not the best Christmas episode, but it was nice, sweet, inoffensive (unless you're a devout Christian and despised the ending with the burning passion of a thousand star of Bethlehems) and poignant story for the occasion.

Season 1 was great. Season 2 already looks 1000x better.

I really didn't like how mean the Doctor was being to Joy, even if it was for a reason. He was still showing some major red flags in that moment. I don't think we've seen the Doctor act in that almost bullying way before.

It's not just his appearance, his personality is very simular to the Master's too! The way he has a superiority complex for example, and how he values the Doctor's intelligence and wants to work alongside him.
