The leather coat I'm glad it's his primary/signature look, as Ncuti needed one, I love the variations with the t shirts, it's very doctory while still being distinctive
Here’s how I would rank his outfits: 1. The Church on Ruby Road - Easy win, it just fits him so well! I’m glad it’s his signature look. 2. The Legend of Ruby Sunday - He has that ‘don’t mess with me’ look, and it’s sick! 3. Boom - He gives off 3rd Doctor vibes, and I like it! 4. Regency Era - He looks fantastic in it! 5. Empire of Death - I prefer him with the jacket on, but it’s still great! Also that whistle ties it together. 6. Dot & Bubble - I really didn’t like it when it was revealed, but it grew on me in D&B 7. Space Babies - Pretty nice, he just looks better with the brown jacket on. 8. Carla’s Flat - Orange fits him, but I think it needs something else with it. The horizontal lines are nice too. 9. Devils Chord - I’m just not a big fan of the afro. 10. Cardigan Hoodie - He looks good in it, but it’s nothing much. 11. Clubbing - There’s nothing to really say about it. It wouldn’t work in other environments. 12. Empire of Death Robes - They’re robes, you can’t go wrong with them, but again, they’re also not good in other environments. 13. Regeneration outfit - He looks good in it despite not having pants, but it’s not a good outfit for regular use. 14. Memory TARDIS poncho - Just don’t really care for it. 15. 73 Yards - He wears bright orange well, but again, it’s still not a great outfit. 16. Start of The Devils Chord - I just don’t really like the mid orange colour with that white trim. It could also be the TARDIS lighting affecting my judgement. This took me about 25 minutes to write lol
@@CulturePhilter It would work at other clubs, but im just not a fan of the fluoro shirt. The kilt is awesome though! Does the clubbing outfit count with the jacket as well? Or is that a different outfit?
So fun, thank you! We have the same top two, and I hadn't given that much thought to the rest. I'd have liked him to wear a kilt more often, but I suspect it'd be impractical for action scenes; they tend to fly about a bit more than the more fitted skirts companions have usually been put in!
Phillip Hawkins: Anti Duffle Jacket Me: *Was about to say: "What about Paddington Bear?"* Phillip: Apart from Paddington Bear, he looks wrong without them! Me: *Breaths a Sigh of relief*
I like the duffel coat because that mustard colour is very similar to the colour of my winter coat. Yellow in general is my favourite colour, and that slightly orange mustardy yellow in particular is just really nice to me. I'd also rate the dot and bubble look a lot higher. Definitely agree with your top pick, though, even if one of the pictures of the "same" outfit is another new top, or at least a different coloured variant of the same top, so not really the same outfit, certainly not if the blue top version counts as its own entry.
@CulturePhilter ah, whoopsie! They are very similar, in fairness, it's the same item I a different colour. My friend Sewage has both versions, he wore them in one of my videos I did last year for the anniversary.
I really like the 60s and regency they are good for the period settings but not for an everyday Doctor outfit I actually like the outfit from Dot and Bubble and I do hope we see it again but my favourite is the same as yours I like both the one from Space Babies and the one from Church on Ruby Road and the end of the season it kinda reminds me of 13s outfit abit especially the trousers
I still think they should have kept him in his long brown coat, with varying shirts and trousers snd possibly alternate the coat colour On side note, i always think ncuti would be a great choice to play
I enjoy the iconic look the most the brown jacket., orange polo shirt and blue trousers. However I don’t like how they’ve switched the orange polo for a yellow polo in Christmas. Orange is a nicer look for Ncuti plus I’ve never liked the colour yellow. (Mabye this is me just being biased as I’m half Dutch and have always liked orange)
I didn’t even notice this coming Christmas was a different-shirt until after I made this video. I agree, I prefer the orange… despite what I said about the colour in the video 😄
I am not sure if I have a list with this, but I'd definitely put "Dot and Bubble" much higher. I wasn't sold on it with the promo picture, but in the show worked really well and I wish they used it more. I like when Ncuti wears orange/red as the Doctor, I think he pops well, but I do think that there is too many costume changes now. I think I would be fine if he had one main costume (the Church/figurine one is perfect) and then with slight modifications like in "Space Babies" and "Joy to the World" where it's the same coat and similar clothes, but slightly different and then some completely different clothes for historic episodes like "Devil's Chord" or "Rogue". I never liked the fact that sometimes companion dress up for the occasion and Doctor is rocking the same leather jacket like it's no big deal.
The check Dot and bubble one definitely works better in the episode than the promo shot but I still think it’s too much of the same pattern. I don’t mind the varied costumes personally. Makes a nice change.
I've made this question to other people who ranks or reviews the doctor's outfits so here we go. IYO, What does make an outfit "doctorish" enough to be a costume for the character? I hope you can read my comment, thanks in advance!
Good question. And it is quite hard to define. Some very different outfits have been “Doctorish”. I think it need to convey eccentricity in some way. Something you wouldn’t expect to see often just being worn on your local high street. A long coat or jacket (goes below hips, not necessarily floor length) helps but isn’t essential. (11s first outfit still feels Doctorish despite the not long tweed jacket)
Hmm ok if I am totally honest I am not a real fan of any of his outfits but 1-I don't dislike any of the particularly and 2- I am getting old and have always even when young preferred a more classic simple look. I saw your poll and out of those 4 the Boom outfit is more to my taste. To me it's something that could mostly fit any occasion, not historical obviously 😂 I really don't like the Regency outfit BUT I really dislike that era anyway so 😅
I am honestly surprised that the costume from Rogue was only number 4 because it's my favourite one - and Ncuti looks just insanely good in it. But then again, as you said, he looks good in anything. So my first trio is: 1) regency era outfit from Rogue 2) The Church on Ruby Road - I really love it but I think this long leather coat should be paired with heavier boots, some nice martens, etc. The version of this outfit from the upcoming special looks great as well, with the colors and suspenders 3) kilt + leather jacket combo also from CORR - well, since I watched Outlander I'm sucker for kilts, and it would be really fun to see Doctor face the daleks in this outfit or something.
I hadn’t actually noticed until I was editing the video that the t-shirt in upcoming Christmas ep is actually different. I guess it should have its own entry on this list if I redo this list in the future.
@@CulturePhilter I'm sure season 2 will bring us a lot of new wardrobe, enough for part 2 of video. The red tartan blouse and navy skirt from the entertainment weekly photosession is now one of my favs as well and I believe it was confirmed to be the onw of the costumes. Not sure about the pastel suit from the 50.' episode but it will probably grow on me on screen.

Yes, it’s good to have a signature look but I am glad there is also some variety.

Hey, a full list requires thought, 25 mins is not a bad time to come up with it. 😄
Why do you think the clubbing outfit wouldn’t work elsewhere?
@@CulturePhilter It would work at other clubs, but im just not a fan of the fluoro shirt. The kilt is awesome though! Does the clubbing outfit count with the jacket as well? Or is that a different outfit?
I really like his main look but my favourite fit of his is his one from Boom.
What makes that one top for you?
the black leather jacket looks so good on him but i agree with your #1, its so sleek but also very doctory
Yea, glad that’s the one he’s returned to a few times.

I think he might have been spotted in a kilt for season 2. Either that or it was just a magazine photo shoot.

Similar high waist to 13 I guess. Just without the high ankles.

@CulturePhilter Patrick Troughton without the fur coat tho not a fan of that

I made my own video ranking them, I think we only agreed in like three haha
I shall have to check it out. Was your the complete reverse of mine? 😄
What are the chances that you would upload this video just a few days after the TARDIS Fandom Wiki updated 15's wiki page on his various costumes.
No idea 😄. Did I miss any they covered? I’ve been editing the video for about two weeks on and off before I released it so it is coincidence.
