This is probably the most fair and balanced review I've seen of Folie a Deux on TH-cam ; I agree with pretty much all of it... The film is bombing, though. There's no getting away from that after it's 82 % second weekend drop-off. Maybe it will make its money back in the long run, but it will take a VERY long time, I think. I really don't see this doing well in Blu-ray/4K or even streaming sales, as it's not a film many general audiences members are going to be willing to give a second chance to. I'm still having trouble figuring out where that $200M budget went ; yeah, sure Phoenix, Phillips and Gaga were paid a lot upfront, but it works out at a reported $52M... I don't see how the rest of the film would have cost a further $148M. The total budget should have been $100M/120M tops, including salaries.
Yeah, the only things I can think is that something caused the musical numbers to cost a lot. They did build purpose sets just for some numbers. But even then they weren’t. Particularly flashy sets. Sure they could have done almost the exact same film for half the cost.
I totally agree with what u said about doctor who episodes not being what we were expecting cause a lot of us who saw the filming pictures for dot and bubble weere probably expecting another period episode set in the 50’s based on what the actress who played Lindy wears looks 50’s like and that Lindy might be a relative of Kate Stewart from unit and when we got to dot and bubble it was nothing like we were expecting from the filming pictures snd that could be what’s happening with some people with the joker sequel even though the first movie was sold to us the audience like it was going to be a one off movie with no prospect of a sequel so a lot of us who liked the first movie probably felt like this one getting announced seemed like it was coming out of left field due to how the joker was old it us as a one off movie
Yeah I think that’s fair. The first one certainly worked as a one off and there is certinally an argument that it would have been more impactful to have left it there, even for people like me that did enjoy the second one.
@CulturePhilter I don't even normally watch reviews before I see something, but they were everywhere. I will definitely watch it when it's on streaming.

I am normally all about the anti hero's or even villains. So I was looking forward to this but am undecided after reviews.
I’d say try and put the reviews out of your head and just watch and make up your own mind. Even if you just wait for it to be on streaming.

@@twistedrealitys742 yeah neither do I but couldn’t help but see some people’s thoughts on Twitter.
