It's disappointing news. A 90-minute movie is, of course, better than nothing. They couldn't just leave us hanging like that. But a 90-minute movie, when we could have otherwise expected a 6-to-10-episode Season 3 run? They're going to have to cut out a Hell of a lot of material in order to wrap up the story of Aziraphale and Crowley in 90 minutes. Maybe it'll turn out better than anyone could expect, but I'm not optimistic.
They clearly won’t be able to fit in all that they originally envisioned for the season. But hopefully they can give us something satisfying that doesn’t feel TOO rushed
It is disappointing news I know. we all feel that. But, on the other hand, I feel like they may focus more on on Aziraphale and Crowley as the whole thing has been the heart of the series. Movies tell stories is as much time.
I am a Pratchett fan and read the book ages ago. I think this announcement is better than not having any resolution to S2. And from what I have seen now it was very nearly cancelled altogether. Anyway most people (especially me) fell in love with the series because of the portrayal of Aziraphale and Crowley's relationship throughout time, and 90 minute movie is still enough time to explore that and provide a resolution to the series.
It certainly could have been worse. They could have just cancelled the whole thing. You’re right the relationship between the two, the way it was written but also the amazing portrayal of it by David Tennant and Michael Sheen is absolutely fantastic!
@@CulturePhilter Whenever I re watch the series the scenes between those two are the highlight, David and Michael are so, so good as those characters. I would watch a TV spinoff show just showing them interact through the ages. BTW you daughter is adorable lol.
Urgh, "This is why we can't have nice things!". Surely, surely, Amazon could have just said, "Look, we know what's been said and we know you all love Good Omens and want it to continue, so we're not saying a third series is out of the question, we're just going to hang fire until these allegations have been answered." If Gaiman has stepped down and no-one else on the project has been accused then I don't see the issue in having a full third series. Maybe it's not making the money Bazos needed for his umpteenth whatever!
If I’m honest I get that they wouldn’t want to work with him anymore, but there are tons of talented screenwriters who could have written a decent season 3. Okay, this might not have been possible, depending on the contract Prime may or may not have with Neil Gaiman. The conflicts of season 2 cannot possibly be resolved within 90 minutes without rushing through everything. You go too fast for me, Amazon…
Those investigations can take years. I think the cast would age too much and so would I! I think this is a compromise but they have to hedge their bets. Don't forget the people who really wanted it all cancelled, they won't want to risk boycott campaigns, tabloid nonsense and the like. This way if that happens and affects viewing figures, they won't lose anywhere near as much money.
Sorry I can't understand why you are complaining about not getting nice things, do you mean the 6 episode season 3? The show runner has been accused of assault by multiple people. Amazon could have dropped it completely after that. Streaming services cancel series for much less.
Oh my goodness! Your daughter is growing up so fast. I'm a little horrified by the rapid passage of time. I think having this special is the best possible outcome.
Appologies about the sound quality my microphone wasn’t connected properly so I used a few tools to try and enhance the very bad on board mic audio. It’s not perfect but better than it was 😄
To be honest I am relieved they are at least going to clear up the cliff hanger 😅 I haven't watched Good Omens 2 yet because of the cliff hanger 😢 My eldest daughter accidentally let it drop it was a cliffhanger just as I was about to watch it 🤬 I HATE cliffhangers absolutely totally and utterly hate them so I have avoided watching it until I was certain it was actually going to be resolved. Once it has been filmed and a release date given THEN I will watch it 😂😂 Your daughter is so lovely 😍 I hope she does appear in a Doctor Who video with you. Good Omens is one of my Top 3 books I have worn out several copies rereading it 😂😂
@@polgarauk5606 fair enough. It is annoying when your left on a cliffhanger with a cancelled show. At least end of season 1 it would have worked as the end of the show
It’s a step down sure I believe we were originally headed for an 8 episode final season. A play on ‘6-6-8 the Neighbor of the Beast’ the name Terry Pratchett coined for the 2nd good omens novel that never got made that the final seasons plot would be based on. At the end of the day disappointing but better than nothing
I can see why The disappointment might be worse. I never held up Rowling as particularly great writer before her turn to anti-trans retoric. I enjoyed the HP films but that’s about it. Where as I really enjoyed Neil’s work, and thought he seemed like a really great person. Which makes the disappointment worse.
First off, Madame Director, I love your flower crown! Second off, I feel bad for John Finnemore. He's an exceptional writer, and he was essentially stepping into Terry's pointy boots by collaborating on season 2. I hope his reputation doesn't get tarnished by association. It's all a huge mess. And such a shame for the Bromance of the decade between Tennant and Sheen (or Sheen and Tennant, to go alphabetical!) Are you watching Agatha All Along? It's super top-notch. Writing, performances, design all through the roof. x
I don’t think anyone else involved in the show has anything to worry about reputation wise. Yes I have been watching Agatha (although haven’t seen this week’s yet) really enjoying it.

Calling it now, it's going to suck, but a bunch of liberals are going to praise it so it doesn't seem like kicking Neil Gaiman to the curb was a bad idea. Which I'm not saying it wasn't, obviously he had to go, but they couldn't have just found a new showrunner for season 3?

Oh that would have been a neat little Easter egg.
Can 90 minutes really resolve S2's ending? I mean I would LOVE another season SERIES. I guess some type of finale is better than none right?
Yeah a whole season would have obviously given a fuller conclusion. Still, hopefully this special can deal with the main points.
nothing as disappointing as neil gaimen. I've loved so many of his projects, it's worst than j.k. rowling.
