    Thanks for the video, love the concret examples that you used! I don't have any background in marketing or in distribution but I fell like this the most important part of a product. Love your videos! How do you or where do you factor predictability into the metric? I can see a case where a metric can be measured, clients want more of it, and it's dense but it's not super predictable how often of this metric will end up being used throughout the year. Kind of like Zapier. Would you still sell an enterprise a million "Zaps" even if they only end up using 700k?

  • @maximboe
    @maximboe 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Great video! If you were working with a SaaS company that's only targeting enterprise-level accounts, how would you approach packaging? Would "Good, Better, Best" even still make any sense at that level?

    • @SaaSPricing
      @SaaSPricing 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      GBB rarely makes sense for any level. However, more generally the structure of 'tiered' packaging usually doesn't work for enterprise, as it breaks down under too high a requirement for configurability and product complexity.

    The thing why Ulwick’s ODI is so attractive to a major extent is because his book is like a super detailed step by step guide meanwhile we do not have such guides by Kristensen unfortunately. Not saying that Ulwick’s ODI is bad in any way. Quite the opposite actually

    • @SaaSPricing
      @SaaSPricing 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yep. Ulwick is very practical and actionable, so that's a big plus. But I think the 'conceptual juice' is in Christensens original work here. Can't ever have both, so it's just up to us on the receiving end to digest and apply appropriately. All the best!

    Do you have advice on pricing on a per-customer basis? My customers can range from startups to huge corporations. Intuitively, I would want to organize a sales call with the customer and make them an offer based on their size, volume of usage of my SaaS and ability to pay. Is it bad to do SaaS pricing this way? I am still at a stage where I can make unproven assumptions about what the "rails" of my SaaS are and how far they will take the customer, for some it could do the work of one employee, for others it could do the work of ten. Do you have resources for people in my position?

    I love the topics you cover and appreciate that you share your knowledge in these videos. Curious, how do you charge your clients for your services? Hourly rate, fixed project fee, or % of achieved impact (extraction from the value you created)?

    • @SaaSPricing
      @SaaSPricing 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Today I usually charge a flat fee + a % of the actual ARR lift on existing customers post-implementation above normal NRR and net of any churn. Before that I would just charge a fixed flat fee paid upfront. Before that (way back when I started out) I would charge a price per hour for longer projects and a fixed fee for short engagements (e.g. a workshop).

    Hey! I'm the first one 😊. I was hoping this video would talk about per seat licensing vs usage or some other pricing structure. Right now the plan for my startup is for a monthly subscription per user. But it would be very easy for a customer firm to pay for one user and share the passwords with ten other users - presumably at the same firm but theoretically it could be passed to anyone. A decade ago my former employer spent a lot of time and energy tracking IP addresses, logins, etc to prove password sharing. There's got to be a better way to do this, but I don't know what that would be. Do you? Can you share it? Look, I even became a subscriber and liked the video! 😅 Thanks.

    • @SaaSPricing
      @SaaSPricing 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you very much! Depending on what your SaaS does, you should probably do both. But you should definitely focus on the pricing structure rather than the price point. Don’t be afraid customers will ‘game’ your model - it’s not a problem before it arises, and then you handle it.

    Eating the overlap is an interesting strategy and one we have employed, however, sales incentives are sometimes misaligned. If the overlap cuts into 50% of the revenue of the deal, sales reps in my experience have themselves slowed down the deal to find another path. On a seperate topic, I purchased your book six months ago and loved it. The jobs to be done vs. problems to solve is an analogy I use all the time in my current role.

    I do agree with the bulk of this video, but would likely add a "test" as part of the sales process. The test proves the product works for that specific customer, and based on the ROI the price is set. It's a dangerous game at times because you may have a lower ROI than expected, but more times than not it sets an anchor around your price.
