OUR FIRST 3 HARVEST HOST STAYS
Our first 3 Harvest Hosts stays have been both memorable and fun. I've decided my favorite locations by far include animals! Cows, chickens, llamas, dogs and any other four-legged friends make it fun! Here's info on the 3 locations in this video:
Welcome Homestead in Baileyton, Alabama is a working farm that centers around Jersey milk cows. They also have chickens, dogs, cats, rabbits and horses. It was interesting learning about regenerative farming and seeing the family's daily routine, which is a lot of work! We supported them with the purchase of grass fed beef they had from a nearby farm. The location was off the beaten path, so be prepared for some country roads. The max rig size is 35 feet. Fair warning: The roosters are up well before sunrise!
Volloma Acres in Micanopy, Florida is a beautiful 40-acre llama ranch. Just six miles off I-75, 20 miles south of Gainesville, the road leading to the ranch is shaded by moss draped trees. The area is also home to some beautiful horse ranches, which can be seen along the drive. Electric and water is available for a $25 fee. In addition to llamas, the ranch has alpacas, a donkey, a zebu cow, chickens, sheep and goats. Right up my alley! We supported them with the purchase of the petting/feeding time with the llamas and a beautiful llama blanket.
Sparacia-Witherell Family Winery is located in Brooksville, Florida, about 30 miles from Tampa. The winery grows native Muscadine and Hybrid varieties of wine grapes. There is plenty of room to park on the grassy lawn that overlooks the vineyards. We were there in January, so the vines were dormant, but I imagine it is beautiful in the spring. The evening entertainment of a live band was fun on the outside patio and made for a great overnight stop. We supported the hosts with the purchase of several items from the gift shop.

BEAUTIFUL ALABAMA STATE PARK

Lake Guntersville State Park campground sits along the banks of Guntersville's 69,000 acre lake. Guests can fish, boat and swim in the lake. One of our favorite things about the park are the narrow trails that wind through the woods up the mountain. The park Lodge sits at a high elevation with spectacular views overlooking the lake. We decided to make a mid-afternoon stop in Montgomery, Alabama to visit The Hank Williams Museum. The museum is filled with authentic memorabilia, including Hank's 1952 Baby Blue Cadillac. The items tell the story of his life from his childhood to stardom. Warning: You will be singing Hank songs for hours after your visit. The walk through downtown Montgomery proved to be a highlight of the sto...

      Great! We actually made an adjustment by replacing the original Command Strips with Command Heavyweight Wall Hooks, which makes it more secure and easily removable. I’ll snap a picture today. We love having the TV there night. We could not get comfortable at the dinette to watch a program and even considered getting loungers, but this has been the perfect solution!

    • @melaniedeare5427
      @melaniedeare5427 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@timetogo4533 Yes, please do add a picture. I had the idea that the hooks would probably work just as well if I could place a wire across the back of the TV and hang it like a picture on the wall. I could simply put the TV down on the bed when I'm underway. Do you have any thoughts about satellite TV for your rig? My chief concern is getting weather warnings when cell service is spotty, and there is no antenna TV reception to speak of in some of the parks I visit. For that reason, I stay in RV resorts most of the time when I travel, but those are getting pretty expensive! Also, do you have any good suggestions for storing your necessities while on a trip? The bathroom in my motor home is miniscule, and I'm a bit at a loss for ideas for storing the multitude of personal items I think I need when traveling. I've downsized from a 40-foot trailer to a 26 foot Class C, and it's been a challenge. Thanks for the update!

    Modern people need to stop looking at natural things as a problem , and start looking at them as a renewable resourse . When the automobile started becoming more wide spred , they used crushed shells to pave roads with . Do it again ! Crush up the shells and mix them in with asphalt , and pave streets with it . Crush them up and mix them in with cement , instead of gravel , and build things . The Romans were doing that very thing . As everybody knows , a lot of Roman structures are still around .

      I've been to dozens of trail parks and Rails to Trails project and the all ban the use of fully electric bikes, but completely allow any electric assist bike. so as long as you must imput pedal power to get the electric assist, and as long as it is not above a certain wattage, there is usually not an issue. I'm planning a move to PBC soon and bringing my 81 year old dad who still cycles, but uses an electric assist bike. would be a shame if he couldnt ride there. hes been looking at the area trails for months now.
