  • The first night in the 2021 Coachmen Prism 24CB revealed some minor water issues. It's never a good sign when you see the ground soaked with water coming from somewhere under your RV. Billy was able to identify the source of the leak and resolved the problem quickly. Water was also spraying the wall whenever the toilet was flushed ... not a good thing! With a little tweaking, Billy stopped the the wild spray. He also shows a few other small issues we had on our first night camping. Customer service from the manufacturer has been excellent, and provided prompt, immediate responses and resolutions. Since this trip, we have gotten specific technical advice to help with modifications/personalizations we've been contemplating.

Not sure if you found out yet. Above the bed in your RV the circle that has access to above is for a CPAP machine and the hose to drop down with the mask.

Thank you for that information! We were wondering what that was for. A CPAP machine makes perfect sense.

Wow! Sorry to hear about your issues. Hopefully your rv is being taken care of under warranty. We’ve enjoyed our prism. Just got back from a 5000 mile trip. hopefully you will get your issues resolved. Hang in there

Just order a Prism FSE . Nice to hear from another owner on small issues to look out for. Also nice to hear what kinda mpg your getting. My question would be is that flat land driving ?

Yes, for the most part my mpg numbers are flat land.
We’ve enjoyed our prism. We thought the price point of the prism was nice, compared to other manufacturers. Could have easily paid 40-50k more. So, if I have small issues, I am fine with that. I plan on putting up another short video on little things I’ve done to it to make it better for us.

    I have a 2021 Prism 24CBS, same as yours.
I actually attached night lamps in the holes above the bed, so this way we can both read without having big bed light on.
Also, we put some gas struts for the cabinets above bed so you don't have to hold them open.
Also, cut out a plastic cutting board to top the kitchen sink.
Watch out for the caulking on the side of the cabin righ behind B pillar on thew outside, one side wasn't caulked.
How does your camera system work? Mine keeps on turning on and off, and makes bizarre sounds. Coachmen will handle it.
Do you have inline water heater or do you have the 6gal water heater?

      Thanks for the comment.
I like the idea of putting night lamps in the holes above the bed. We added led strip lighting around the windows for some indirect lighting by the bed and by the dinette.
I added gas struts, as well. I have a short video on what I did. That helps quite a bit.
I found a black plastic cutting board on Amazon that fits the stove top perfectly.
My camera system works fine. It is not doing what you are experiencing.
To answer your question in the hot water heater, I have an in-line instant hot water heater. We set the temp to 106 so that it is comfortable without using the cold water when taking a shower. That helps conserve water since no adjustment is needed when we get in the shower.
I’m wondering where are you referring to with the place you have no caulking ? On the corners behind the cab doors?
I did have a leak by the antenna (radio/satellite?). It was not sealed well with the silicone they used. I resealed it and it’s fine now.

High I’m considering buying a 2017 coachman prism, I’ve read quite a few reviews online that suggest the build quality might not be that good, have you had many problems with the RV?

I haven’t had any major issues with the coachmen prism, though I would expect the build quality to be less than that of a Winnebago or Tiffin. When I purchased, the coachmen prism was much less expensive than other brands. I’m glad I purchased mine. I’ve driven it over 15k miles in a little over a year, and I haven’t had to take it to the shop yet.
I would recommend joining the coachmen prism Facebook group and ask questions. There are quite a few people in there and most are very helpful. I would expect several have the same year and model you are looking to buy

I am interested in purchasing a Prism and wondering what gas milage you got for the RV?

Hello, we have put about 8000 miles on ours over the past year. Over that time, we’ve gotten 14.6mpg. That’s city driving and highway/interstate combined, with most miles on the interstate . Doing 70 mph will put you at about 14mpg. If driving 55, we get about 17mpg. Let me know if you have any other questions. I plan on putting up a video on improvements we’ve made that are pretty simple. We love our unit and really haven’t had any major issues.

I know this thread is old, but I have no idea what the following are stating on fuel mileage. I just purchased in the last few month expecting good mileage, I have a 2024 Coachman 24' with the 2022 Mercedes Diesel chassis. I was given false information from people stating it gets 14 MPG etc. You get maybe 7 to 9 miles a gallon at 65-70mph on flatland. Maybe 14mpg going 45 mph which is ok, but I can assure you mileage is terrible and I would of never purchased one knowing it was that bad on the Highway. It was so bad that the factory tank which is in the 24 or so gallons I had to stop every two hours to fuel up. So count on spending a few extra grand and getting a aftermarket 46 gallon tank.
