  • Over the past several weeks, mounds of sea shells have popped up along Panama City Beach as a result of the Beach Renourishment Project. This short video takes a look at one of the piles, which is off limits to the public. We heard people could take shells from piles in other areas, then heard that the piles were closed off to the public because of bacteria. We only know what has been circulating in Panama City Beach Facebook groups! The shells in this video will be distributed along Panama City Beach access roads, according to a worker on site. Other piles have been distributed along the pathways in Camp Helen State Park. Whatever the case, it is a rare and interesting site to see such a huge pile of shells! Details on the renourishment project can be found here: www.visitpanamacitybeach.com/...

Wow, I’d pay to be allowed a few minutes choosing some shells to keep! Could I just sit at the edge for a selfie with all those shells, just dreaming😍🤗

You would think, they'd allow taxpayers to go through the shells. Never heard of a seashell riot before.

This was 3 months ago, so I don’t believe you will find any mounds of shells like this around!

We collected all these shells with your taxes, and now you can go pound sand - so to speak. So what are they going to do - use them like gravel?

I heard the shells had lots of bacteria since there were live critters in them. Kinda stinky.

Why do they "own" them? Guess these are the ones you see in the stores?
