The reason I think it is a spy for Atticus is that when Atticus is talking to Pilot, he mentions Lazarus resurrection in a very positive way as though he believed it really happened. It seems like he would need first hand information.

However, for me, your analyses in this critical episode are compromised by the memory lapses and stumbling over words; these rough edges accompanied by nervous laughter give the appearance of freelancing through your narrative. I’m gonna give you a 50/50 on Schmuel being Saul based on your sleuthing. It would be cool if they are moving him into a follow up series or movie. But if it is, as they say “you got alot if ‘splaining to do” Dallas to make it plausible.

Hi Brandon, I think it was you who a few years back analysed the script/timeline of how Dallas was going to do the Chosen. I'm wondering if there is a timeline video showing where each episode fits in the timeline of Jesus' ministry. For example, Season 1 seemed to take place in the first 2-3 months of Jesus' ministry. Season 2 continued on from that. Season 3 indicated from the 'going on in twos' that the time went by a little, but in Season 4, I'm a little lost as to the time jumps. I know there are SOME time stamps (certainly when there has been scenes going backwards or forwards) but I'd LOVE a video of a timeline and where all episodes fit in. the middle 2.5 years of Jesus' ministry just seem to have been jumped over massively (which is fine) but I'm wondering if I've actually missed stuff that's showing more of the time journey.

Satan crossed my mind when I saw him (just watched season 4 this week). I doubted it was, however, because the temptations of Jesus were a big part of his life, and Dallas left that out. If he were going to present Satan, I think the time in the wilderness would have been presented in an earlier season. My next thought was the thief on the cross. I doubt it is Saul because my understanding is that he had a more prominent role in society. By his dress, this individual looks like a lower middle class/lower class type.

I would love for you to go back over seasons 1 through 3! We have really been enjoying these deepndives for season 4 and have been learning so much! Thank you!

I’m late for this one because I didn’t want any spoilers while waiting for the streaming. I totally agree with you on the casting (or miscasting) of Elizabeth and Chuza. It completely took me out of 1st century mode. I was also really puzzled by the timing of Joanna taking off to deliver JTB’s death to Andrew. It seemed like she left before she actually found out for sure that they were going to execute him. As always, you provide the best analysis of the show. Both in terms of theology, history and the production with the smallest of details with regard to editing. Thank you for this!
