If someone you admired and respected told you they were deliberately going to a place to be mocked, tortured and killed, then be resurrected, you might not believe it either.

Yup he said he was going to be tortured and killed very explicitly I might add and to them it must have been so unimaginably horrible that their brains just shut down and this was before his death and resurrection because nowadays we know that his suffering ended in triumph as prophesied but at this time it must a shock to the system.

They were already understanding some of them that he wasn't going to be that type of messiah but beyond that they couldn't as I said the human brain itself shuts down when its exposed to really traumatic stuff and what he was telling was was deeply traumatic plus God himself hid the meaning of what Jesus was teaching

The whole time I was watching this in theaters I just kept whispering to myself, “James…John…don’t do it…don’t say it…” The secondhand embarrassment was strong in this scene. I love how Jesus is portrayed as being frustrated that they don’t get what’s about to happen to Him. No one really seemed to get it. I can only imagine how lonely that must’ve felt.

Honestly, ALL of us are like them... We listen but do not hear what is being said. It's kind of the way we're wired. We all usually assume what is being said if for right now, and are physical minded... rarely kingdom minded... it takes training to understand. This is why there are literal training days for specific situations... hearing is kind of situational.

I think when we watch this and read it in the word we forget just how young the disciples were. Kudos to the chosen team and their more realistic depiction of the gospel but fact is, only Peter has to pay temple tax, meaning he was the only disciple over the age of 21 and many scholars believe that many of the disciples were between the ages of 15-17, they were babies (considered men only in their culture)

The mother of the sons of Zebedee, took her sons to Jesus one: Because they were not of age yet. Remember in Matthew 17:24-27, only two paid the temple tax, Jesus and Peter. The other were not of age. His other followers were young boys not yet men. And second to ask for something that was not for her to ask for. For she was asking for herself, not them.

Matthew 16:18 - "And I tell you, you are rock (Aramaic: Kephas/Cephas; Greek - Lithos, Petros; English: Peter), and on this rock I will build my church and the gates of hell will not prevail against it." With the new name, Simon/Cephas is now Rock, not pebble or small stone which some errant interpretations describe. This talk of the foundation of the Church has multiple layers. 1 Corinthians 3: 10-11 indeed speaks metaphorically of Christ as the foundation, but this does not discount other biblical passages in which others are also foundations, yet in different ways. 1 Peter 2:6 describes Christ as the Cornerstone, instead of citing him as the foundation (Isaiah 28:16). Ephesians 2:20 speaks of the household of God as being built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with the prophets being not of the Old Testament but of the New age (Ephesians 3:5, 4:11). Revelation speaks of the New Jerusalem with the foundation as comprising the 12 apostles (the 11 plus Matthias). In conclusion, there are 5 foundations of the Church: In 1 Corinthians 3, Christ is the foundation of the local Church. In 1 Peter 2, Christ is the cornerstone of the Church. In Ephesians 2, Christ is the cornerstone with the apostles and New Testament prophets as the foundation. In Revelation 21, the foundation is the Twelve. And in Matthew 16, the rock is Cephas/Peter. When Jesus tells them to go ahead and start out and he'll catch up... it's kinda like he just needs a break from them because he's frustrated by them, it kinda reminds me of in the Old Testament when God was journeying with them by a pillar and a cloud, and His frustration with their stubbornness

Poor Judas, he thought Jesus would fight the Romans, none of them got him really. Peter, in the Bible never said I'm sorry to Jesus, he had to come to him and ask him if he loved him. They hid even after he came back, the Holy Spirit really freeing them. My God, when I am weak and can't feel the fire sometimes, I think of them, so close they could see Jesus's toenails and they left him alone, left him scared, left him with a handful of people. Shocking when you think about it and I try to not feel bad when I fall, just try harder.

Yes I agree, I wish we had more conversations after he rose, who he saw, what he did the 40 days, how often was he there. I pray for Judas, if he was saved I would feel so happy, Jesus called him friend in the garden and told him to go at the Last Supper, told him to do it quickly. I wonder what went through Judas's head? His master told him he knew and go do it.

I have always wondered if Jesus is in fact God himself, then why would he say: "Where you will sit in the kingdom of heaven is not mine to grant."?
If Jesus was God himself, why wouldn't he say something like: "I will make the choice of who sits at right and left hand, but at a later time," or something like that?
I know the Trinity doctrine, but when I read the Gospels, to me there are too many times where Jesus either talks about either being granted authority, or being sent by someone else, not to mention the times when a voice was heard from heaven while Jesus was on earth, and the fact that Jesus said in the Garden of Gethsemane: "Let not my will but yours be done," All those instances to me debunks the Trinity doctrine.
That said, when Jesus says at certain points, "The Father and I are one," well to me that seems to indicate, based on the things I mentioned above what I noticed, to me I think that what Jesus really meant when he said: "The Father and I are one," is they're not one and same person, but rather they are one in agreement with how they view things and what should be done.
I don't subscribe to any denomination, but rather I try to look at everything from a point of logic, and to me as a simple layman, this is the logical conclusion.

What he pointed out, though, was not left-and-right thrones but two parapets holding up flags of the castle, which was in the context of Peter being the castle's foundation rock. So i was saying why God get frustrated if he knew they wouldn't understand that particular part of the message?

I do have a question… hoping it’s not a dumb one but I know God stopped them from fully understanding what Jesus was saying. Does Jesus know that? So is He really frustrated with them or with God? Or is He just frustrated that He knows they can’t understand and now He knows He will have to die to redeem is all? Sorry if this was already asked. I really love and appreciate your videos

    Mark 10:35-40
39 They said to Him, “We are able.” So Jesus said to them, “You will indeed drink the cup that I drink, and with the baptism, I am baptized with you will be baptized; 40 but to sit on My right hand and on My left is not Mine to give, but it is for those for whom it is prepared.”
We must remember that Jesus will be seated at the right hand of the Father. So John and James are going to run into a problem: for Jesus will be on his Father's right and only his left will be free. I think that's where the Twelve Thrones are going to be.

Jesus sits at the right hand of the father. They are literally asking to sit in between God and Jesus. Thats why its not his to grant it is Gods table they are referring to. And Jesus is telling them you are asking to take my place in the house of the Lord, to become the Messiah.

I'm curious as to how evangelicals view Jesus during his mortal ministry. Yes, he's GOD. I get that. In the Old Testament he's YHVH. He's the same GOD who spoke to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Some even hold to the notion that he's another iteration of the Father.
But what was he when he was he was walking the streets of Jerusalem as a mortal? Clearly he was in no position to answer prayers, nor was he aware of what was going on in Britannia or the other side of the Earth. But he clearly had insight on the people he was dealing with, person-to-person.
In other words, he was, to a certain extent, subject to the same limitations we mortals are. So what are your thoughts? To eat extent was he God and what extent, man?

What is the Bible verse that says the church was to be founded on Simon's proclamation? And where does it say the keys to the kingdom was granted to all of them? When the script says "all of you will be granted authority," you're basing that and agreeing with the script...not scripture.

Not at all, I’m saying that is a literary style of the first century. This is what scholars believe Matthew did on purpose. During that time, if someone sent a friend or servant with a message, then it is as good as them going themselves.

The most wrong thing to think is that the TRUE YAHSHUA had a ministry for years - NO - HIS MINISTRY IS EXACTLY 490 days from the day he was baptised by John - declaring HIM "THE LAMB OF GOD" - until the day of Pentecost - when THE HOLY SPIRIT BAPTISM CAME!!! To suggest the 3.5 year is a pagan teaching...it was deliberately put in the KJV but was NOT the true scripture.

It helps to see why things don't always line up and how the followers approached the teachings.
