Also, in the after show, the actor playing David got passed over to play Nathaniel but got a call later to be David. He was in his office and oddly enough had a picture of King David there. God has a funny sense of humor. My guess too after The chosen they will do a series on King David.
Just a note, King David’s wife Abigail was married to Nabal of southern Judah. He was the one who refused to feed David and his men when they were on the run.Abigail found out and loaded donkeys with supplies and took them to David.
Yes. Glad you posted this.
Abigail I believe was David’s third wife if you include Michal as his first. Next was Ahinoam of Jazreel and then Abigail the widow of Nabal.
This entry scene feels so powerful. It gives me the feeling of "every knee shall bow" before the Lamb upon His second coming.
The production team did a great job of putting it together. God bless them.
That song at the beginning of this scene has been playing rent free in my head for days! Lol 😊🎉
I hope they do "Acts" next!
We here hope Dallas will continue on with Acts. The Chosen has been of great comfort to so many people. GOD BLESS ALL OF YOU!!
I think in the after show episode 8 with Jonathan and the actor who plays David (George) said they did a re-shoot and he was on the horse. By the way, how cool you were in this entry scene. Chills!!
Yeah makes sense 😁
IMO, one of the most beautifully filmed scenes of the entire series. Great job, folks!
Yeah it’s very cool
@@TheChosenSleuthI agree. A great visual and sound of praise in Yerushalayim
Yes, they reshot it with paid BG two weeks later. I was called back to Utah to film this and the scenes with Joanna; carriage and palm branches.
Speaking of tying passover into communion......
Most people are unaware that the passover seder performed by Jesus at the last supper is the earliest recorded passover seder.....ever.
Sorry, I'm confused - what about the original Passover meal, in Egypt?😊
Who got that song stuck in their head?
🙌👏🎵Hosanna! Our king is victorious!🎵👏🙌
Most definitely!
Me! 🙋🏻♀️ So catchy!
I'm not sure why they mention the timing as 6 days before Passover. As you said, the lamb - male, 1 yr old (which is typically MUCH larger by this time than the little beauty shown in the show). Like scripture says, it was brought into the home on Nisan 10 - which corresponds to Palm Sunday. It was loved & inspected for those days before sacrifice. Jesus was 'inspected' in his Father's house - the Temple - by the priests & religious leaders. I had not heard about the annointing of the hoofs before bringing into the home. HOWEVER that WOULD tie in with Mary annointing Jesus's feet with the expensive oil 'for burial' as Jesus notes. At some point I hope they recall JTB's statement 'Behold, the Lamb of God, that takes away the sin of the world' to hopefully point this out again to people who may not be as scripturally literate. The 'type' of Messiah in the Pesach lamb is SO powerful !
@@janjohnston9504 yes, thank you for a better explanation than my short comment!
I'd love to see them do Acts first and then King David. Then a show off Revelation.🤲❤️✝️🙌
Revelations? Not likely: his dad's books have already been filmed
Praise God! Happy to see The Chosen Sleuth and his wife interacting with the show and providing detailed commentary on that same show! 🙏🏽
PS This is the first time I saw David’s triumphal entry on film (even if it wasn’t performed in reality as it shown in “The Chosen”)
your channel is awesome ty, i hope dallas keeps you close so you can keep bringing us these amazing breakdowns and insights. ty.
The procession of King David into the city of Jerusalem foreshadowed Jesus (Son of David)'s entry into Jerusalem.
It was one of the very last signs that Jesus was the Messiah. The city welcoming him as "King of Israel" as David was King of Israel.
All the stuff about the lamb and anointing of it's feet, Mary's anointing Jesus' feet?? Get it???
Why??
Basic theology - Jesus is "the Lamb of God" He is the sacrifice, to atone for all sin.
The lamb of Passover" foreshadows the Passion and Death of Christ.
The Last Supper WAS NOT the Feast of Passover, (although many Protestants keep saying it is, it wasn't)
The ceremonial Passover meal was AFTER the Crucifiction, and that is why the Priests and Rabbis stood off aways away, and he was buried so hastily.
Matthew, Mark and Luke all say specifically that it was the first day of the Festival of Unleavened bread and that the disciples prepared the Passover meal for them.
Thank you for these deep dives!
thanks for the inside news. That prelude ranks amongst the top so far, & the chant is hypnotic!
Happy 4th of July, Brandon and Vanessa! Hope you have a great day today! 🎆🎇🎉🎉🤩😎🥰❤️🤍💙
Happy 4th and GOD bless America 🇺🇸 🙏🏻 🇺🇸
I don't want to nit pick (but then this is the best place for it), but I wonder about the use of the word Hosanna.
Hosanna means "Save us" which wouldn't be the word after a victory, I assume to make that connection with Jesus' triumphal entry.
Hello sir Brandon. Happy independence day. Thank you for every thing you do
Oh wow I only knew three of David's wives: Michal, Abigail, and Bathsheba. 😮
I kind of wondered if he married Michal because she fell for him and he loved her family and understood being a younger sibling. Married Abby because he loved her great wisdom and valued that in his house and treasured especiallysince her last husbandtook her for granted (like his family with him). And then wondered if Bathsheba was just lust or was his "true love" since I would think they were "good friends" since she was married to one of his best friends and he allowed that to overtake him (plus maybe they had mutural chemistry)...idk... I mean the next king did come from her
But wow eight plus concubines?! I know he had a young girl keep him warm but dang. I gotta check that out. See where Solomon got it from but worse 😅
Thanks, great video ❤❤
13:40 it’s right there in Exodus 12!! It states to have a lamb at your house by day 10, and on day 14, you prepare it for Seder. That’s exactly 5 days.
2:21 If I wasn't wasn't playing close attention I totally would've thought the guy in the center of the screen was you.
I’d love Acts to be a transition of the Chosen. However, it would be great to see king David’s story and then maybe Exodus.
Throwing clothes could easily trip a donkey. What were they thinking
In this instance it was a horse, not a donkey ...
In Bible times, both were probably more used to this, since it happened regularly - and on an average day there was far more commotion than in our day & age
If you have contact with Rabbi Jason Sobel you could ask him about the tradition vs scripture aspect of the sacrificial lamb.
@@myheartwalks it represents Christ.... it's symbolic of the sacrifice of the Savior. They annoint the lamb, become familiar with him, take care of him and love him, then they have to sacrifice him. It becomes more of a sacrifice since the lamb becomes more like family during that week.
Brandon had asked the question about whether the lamb stays within the house for four or six days or whether that was in scripture or done by traditional practice. He wasn't sure and asked if anybody knew anything specifically about it. So I was just reminding him that he could ask the expert Rabbi that Dallas has on his team.
Their day started at sunset. It makes sense if they kept lamb inside for 5 days, like David says here, that it 10th, 11th, 12th, 13th and 14th day.
Anointed his feet … Mary’s costly ointment anointed Jesus’ feet …
I watched this episode twice and had no idea that was King David. I never heard anyone say that it was David. I figured it was a more recent king. Just had no idea who that was.
The only reason i could tell it was King David was because it was the same actor of David as in previous episodes
@@victoriat.2093 Thanks. I guess I didn't really remember the actor because the seasons are so far apart.
Wasn't there a story involving King David, Samuel and the story of taking your neighbor's lamb?
Hello Brandon. Della Warren here
The first time they showed him up close the curl of his hair is showing out the right side of helmet. The second time the curl is on the left of the helmet. Makes me wonder how it was really done.
Brandon, you mention that in this scene with David and Abigail and son, that there are the elements of Passover, and tie it into communion. They are only 'talking about' Passover, not observing it, like still being on the same day in the outdoor scene, or on one of the days before the 14th of Nissan, of the actual Passover. They are not observing Passover yet because the lamb is ALIVE 🐑 and there in the room with them. Not yet 🍗
I think for a potential David show, Prof. Justin Jackson of Hillsdale College would be a good choice to play Samuel.
Your channel is very entertaining. Other people do this. However, you are definitely more entertaining.
if you had watched the after show, it was explained how the real actor King David was filmed on the horse.
Elle est extraordinaire cette scène. I love it 🙏
Early Christians kept the Passover tradition for many years after Christ's resurrection.
Since most of them were Jewish and had been doing that all of their lives.
He has a beautiful face that's for sure!!!! I love the music!!!!!
He looks like my Son’in’law
Could you not ask Dallas one day about why he said seven days that the lamb needs to be kept? Interesting point as some of what is shown is Jewish tradition and not always biblical fact.
I wonder if we will see king David in season 5.
Would love to see Ima's story after Jesus' Ascension. 🙏🕊️❤️
Hi, sorry this is off topic
I just wanted to ask what digital or like online Bible do you use?
I love your videos, by the way. I watch every video when I can, just so I don't miss out 😂 and because I still want to know who that guy is in the Lazarus's rising from the dead scene🤔 And of course because you guy's are so interesting and I'm just filled with wonder and love how you guy's explain things so well 🫶🏽 and discuss things we don't even seem to notice sometimes 😱😄
Brandon- if you watch the After Show for E8, Dallas talked about filming this scene twice and Jonathan talks with Jorge about filming it and we see they did it with much less people that se and time.
Yeah that’s what I assumed. Makes sense for sure .
The genealogy of Jesus in Matthew 1 goes through king David to Solomon … eventually to Joseph.
Why does the Chosen show the bridal being passed down through Daniel?
It shows through David
I can not believe how many times this specific episode has interruptions for ads. So weird TH-cam. Settle down!!!
Sorry! TH-cam kinda decides when those actually get shown. Hopefully not as many later 😅
Good Video Brandon TKY LIKE ALWAYS 👍🏻 ❤🇺🇸🫶🏼🤲🏼
I hope they do shorter stories like Ruth or Esther instead of multiple seasons like David or acts.
There is no reference for 6 days biblically, however, as time continues, and appearances became imortant in the tradition sense, even in the chosen jesus admonished the dress of the high priest so to speak.. the early bird gets the best worms..
You're 100% correct in regard to the lamb thing. It seems like that tradition was developed by Christians conflating the anointing of Jesus's feet with his role as Passover Lamb. But there's no evidence that Jews ever practiced it (especially, like you mentioned, since they wouldn't even have the lamb 6 days ahead of time).
Regarding the number of days for the lamb, I found a Messianic page (RabbiYeshua) that I can't post the link to, but this is what it says about the sunset/day timing and days of the 1st month. I can't tell if that means there are 5 "date" days before Passover when the lamb is chosen (it says 4 days below)...
Passover Eve
The Biblical day begins at sunset. If we follow John's chronology, Yeshua and his disciples were settling into the upper room for his Last Seder as the Jerusalem sunset marked the beginning of the 14th day of the first month. In Exodus 12, the Israelites are commanded to kill the Passover Lamb on the 14th day of the 1st month. That meant that the following afternoon the Passover lambs were to be slaughtered in the Temple.
Also...
In Exodus chapter 12, the Torah gives the instructions for the celebration of Passover. The children of Israel were to choose a lamb for the Pesach sacrifice on the 10th day of the 1st month, 4 days before the actual slaughtering was to be done. According to John's chronology, it is the 10th day of the 1st month as Yeshua enters Jerusalem, and the people make their choice.
They call this lamb a year old. I am sure they used a young lamb for the movie to make things easy. I raise sheep. Just so people know a yearling year old lamb usually weighs around 150 pounds. Imagine that in the house for a week! 😊
lol! That’s hilarious 😂, gotta make exceptions for the cinema.
Oh oh…!!! Do Acts, do Acts!!!!!
This David is soooo handsome!
omg it’s not just me who thinks this 😂
Jesus, son of David, fulfilling propechy 🙏🙏
It’s not fulfilling no prophecy because first of all all those people was black and still is black
The annointing of oil represents what Mary did....
I didn't explain this well, but someone else made a better comment about this and how Mary annointed Christ for burial in the similar fashion that these sacrificial lambs would be annointed.
@@pandorasrevelations9873 ... which is exactly what Brandon mentions in this video, right?
I hate it when they add non-scriptural things that complicate the story, like the bridle in the box. Why didn't they focus on something scriptural, like the robe that Jesus wore, for which the Roman soldiers cast lots. It had to be valuable. What was the story behind that item?
It struck me when I rewatched this time that David refers to it as a "Passover story" Could be he means the days leading up to Passover, but I wouldn't be surprised if we get further clarification somewhere in the coming Season ....
Abigail looks just like Bathsheba and dresses the same.
Strange, Abigail says they had no time for bread to rise. That,s not right. They were not allowed yeast, because it represents sin. "For seven days you are to eat bread made without yeast. On the first day remove the yeast from your houses, for whoever eats anything with yeast in it from the first day through the seventh must be cut off from Israel" Ex 12
Ex12:39 And they baked unleavened cakes of the dough which they had brought out of Egypt; for it was not leavened, because they were driven out of Egypt and could not wait, nor had they prepared provisions for themselves.
@@ThankYouAbba yes, AFTER passover, they took unleavened dough out of Egypt, and used it to make unleavened bread later in the wilderness, after crossing Red sea. But for Passover no yeast was allowed for a reason.
@@jdowns1715 Abigail's story was about when they walked out of slavery, right? The Law was given somewhat later
CCU 😄❤
Sounds like the Star Wars Ewok song!!
I love this scene, although, I wonder why they chose to make the song in latin instead of hebrew… 🤷🏻♀️ I know, that’s just detail, but I was just wondering.
Hosanna is Hebrew (Hosian-na, actually) and the rest of the words are sung in English. No Latin, it seems
🖤💚🧡💛🤍
What happened to Daniel?
He's not really mentioned afterwards, so there's the assumption he died at a young age.
Happy 4th! The Chosen Sleuth. 🔎
I can't see you at all, no matter what you say
This whole series is blasphemous and takes away the Diety of Christ. This show is not even relatively close to Biblical accounts. If one wants to get to know Jesus...read the Bible for yourself, as it is the written word of God. Period, there is no in between.
I am sure that many people may already know this. The final meal that Ye-hua ( Je-us ) had with His talmadium ( disciples ) was NOT a paschal sader ( passover ) 🛐🔎✒️📜🫀🔍👂🗣️
