Basically for this throw to work you jeed to break uke's balance ,,behind" in order for him to succumb to the throw. Wonderfull technique
Thanks for watching!
Gold❤
Thank you!
Such a great technique taken out from competition, no need to force a high single leg. Arigatou gazaimasu !
Thanks Nico! We really appreciate your support.
Going to try this out at our dojo for sure, this is great! Love all the videos on the channel!
Thank you. Best wishes in your Judo journey.
Awesome explanation, deep understanding.
Thank you so much for saying so! Please share so we can help Riki sensei's teachings reach more people.
@@RikiDojoUSA OK, I will, but I have ceased practicing Judo actively some 39 years ago. I wasn't able to understand some techniques while I was active, oguruma was one of them and here the explanation is really brilliant. Really. Regards from Serbia.
Thank you

Just came across your channel and I love the teaching style. These videos are incredibly helpful in understanding the techniques and how to teach them to others myself. Thank you for publishing this for free! Stuff like this will better the sport everywhere!
Thank you very much. I’m happy to hear they are helpful to you. Riki

Shido in the first 10 seconds 🙄
Who cares? This channel teaches original, traditional, authentic Kodokan judo.
@@RikiDojoUSA there is no point in teaching 'fighting hacks' if they are not in line with present judging rules. We are not talking 'original kodokan techniques' for kata or graduation here!
@@tomasussing2600 so you can look a lot of channels that follows that line, and let us enjoy this one.
Easy to follow. Hard to do. Thank you for the invaluable tips.
You are so welcome! We appreciate your time and attention.
Thankyou sensei you are the only person to explain between both throws I’ve been doing kubi nage this whole time
Thanks for watching! Please spread the word so we can help Riki sensei's teachings reach more people.
I didin´t know that lapel trick was ilegal, it´s one the best way I can get morote seoi nage but sadly I have a little injury in my right elbow and can do it better to my "bad" side so the question is: Do I have to point my elbow way too high ? Thanks for sharing, I thought two hands morote seoi nage was eri seoi nage but I love to learn.
I don´t like to criticize my country´s judo but I have seen so many debates with uki goshi that is video has taught me a lot, looks simple and is similar to the way my oldest sensei taught me but some people love to say the real uki goshi is the huge elevation version you can see sometimes in competition or in some sambo matches. Arigatouu !
Riki sensei always tells us to not contradict the teachers in the dojo if they tell you something is contrary to what you know, but boy is that hard to do! Buena suerte!
@@RikiDojoUSA Yeah that is what I do but obviously there´s confusion in some fundamentals here. Thanks for answering.
👏🙏
Thanks!
Very detail oriented, patient step by step approach. Effective demonstration for all learners. Thank you sensei.
Thank you, we love this feedback!
Great video as always. Love all the variations. This throw works great in different disciplines too like BJJ 😁
Thanks Luis!
Beautifully explained, thank you.
Thank you for saying so and for watching!
I was very impressed by grabbing sode and yokowakare variation. That's good idea! You are genius.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you for your explanation sensei. I needed to know how to properly wheel someone which most videos don't explain so well
You are very welcome!
Love the grip variation details.
Thank you!
thanks sensei its open my mind so easily this way
We love to hear that!
Hey, it’s been awhile. Wonderful to see a new video from the Riki Dojo. I actually prefer sumi- garaging to tomoenage. I can’t really say why, except that I find sumi-gasehi much easier to enter into and execute successfully. Also I have found it serves as an effective follow-up waza to an unsuccessful attempt at osotogari. Many, many thanks!🥋🙂🌞
Thank you Jun! I've been SLACKING at video editing, but I'm back at it. I have many classes to distill into videos, but we're getting closer to the "finish line" of one video for each waza in Riki sensei's shodan test.
So uchi momo would what many of us call leg uchimata ? Thanks for sharing.
Exactly! Thanks for watching!
Amazing explanation of the kata part. Nobody knows around me haha. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you Nico!
This channel has some quality old school judo, thank you!❤
That's the goal! Thank you :)
Arigatou. This is Kougi Judo or Judo in the broad sense.
If you demonstrate Kodokan judo, you have to stick to the Kodokan denominations. Hiza guruma is ashi waza, period. Why are you complicating well established things ?
lol
1:33 sorry but I must mention this, that particular action right there is the first movement in Gekisai-dai-ichi kata of Go-Ju ryu karate. It's interesting because the new karate social movement is looking for understanding and explanations of the meaning behind the moves in kata.
✌️👍👊👌
Thank you!
Massively different to the wrestlers' style of double-leg attack we see so often in modern combat sports, and a lot easier and arguably more practical for self defense too (at least as far as I can see), given you aren't required to change levels and drop your knee if you have to fight on concrete, etc. Gorgeous and under-appreciated throw!
Thanks for watching!
What a stud instructor. Really clear and awesome tone!
We are very fortunate!
I love this channel! Riki Sensei's teaching are so grounded in fundamentals, but while being entertaining, insightful, and acknowledging of the complexity of judo. I hope I get the chance to visit the dojo someday!
Thanks so much, Tom! We hope to see you as well!
Very nice!!
Thanks!
Watching from Perth, Western Australia. Your Sensei...is a GIFT to judo instruction. Protect this man at all costs! He's got a tonne of wisdom on correctly applying these throws and Judo knowledge that none of the world competitors in my club have!
I am honored you enjoyed this video and hope you will pass on these points to your fellow Judoka. Best wishes in your Judo journey. Riki yori
I’ve learned some amazing variations in Jiu Jitsu, but hands down this is one of the best I’ve seen. 🙇Sensei Riki
