Watching from Perth, Western Australia. Your Sensei...is a GIFT to judo instruction. Protect this man at all costs! He's got a tonne of wisdom on correctly applying these throws and Judo knowledge that none of the world competitors in my club have!

Going into the meaning behind the move is critical to understanding how its performed. I love it!

Thank you for saying so! The quality of Riki sensei's teachings has been consistent over the years, it's only relatively recently that our video editing has caught up enough to show it off. Lots more on the channel :)

Konnichi-wa! (It’s 4pm of Thursday November 16th here in the Philippines.) SOOOO wonderful to see a new video from you folks after such a long silence-and one that adds more learning points about my tokui-waza to boot. I’m extremely thankful for this video which demonstrates and articulates the subtle yet critical elements that make for a successful Osotogari. This video helps me to visualize the good habits that need to be cultivated, not only in my own practice but when I teach this waza to my own students.
And lest I forget, the battlefield application of Osotogari is the cherry on top.😊
Warm regards to Riki-sensei and to all of you in the dojo. Domo arigatou!🥋🙏
P.S. I am fortunate enough to have a dvd of the training films that were produced of Mifune Kyuzo-shihan. I was fascinated by Riki-sensei’s anecdote about training with him; it confirms all I have ever read, heard and seen (via video) about the God of Judo.🥋
P.P.S. The title of this video cracked me up. I remember the 1984 dance movie on which it is based, Breakin’ 2: Electric Boogaloo.😆

Thanks so much for saying so Jun! We'll be posting videos more often, various distractions have taken my eye off the ball...a new & improved harai-goshi tips video is next!

Excellent tips. I will try the katazuki, and lower elbow hikite next practice and see if that helps against sometimes getting countered. Thank you Sensei!

Thank you! Please share with your fellow judoka so we can help Riki sensei's teachings reach more people. Also, think about using your tsurite forearm as a battering ram on uke's chest!

Very good tips. Osoto Gari is my favorite throw but it's difficult for me to execute in jiu-jitsu sparring because my classmates can see it coming and they counter right away hahaha.

Perhaps what you need to work on are your setups for the throw, along with renraku-waza. Just a thought. 🥋🙏

Thank you! Make sure their ukemi is up to par so you still have sparring partners ;)
