The True Horror of "The Blair Witch Project"
In October of 1994, three student filmmakers disappeared in the woods near Burkittsville, Maryland while shooting a documentary called "The Blair Witch Project." At least that's how the story goes. But the real horror only begins there.

The Blair Witch Project is a 1999 American supernatural horror film written, directed, and edited by Daniel Myrick and Eduardo Sánchez. One of the most successful independent films of all time, it is a "found footage" mockumentary in which three students (Heather Donahue, Michael C. Williams, and Joshua Leonard) hike into the Black Hills near Burkittsville, Maryland to shoot a documentary about a local myth known as the Blair Witch.

I recently had an encounter with TH-cam demonetizing for "reused content". The issue has now been resolved upon appeal. However, I don't want to leave it unaddressed for you all. The Radical Politics of Snowpiercer Explained
Id say its a good show, is it flawed, fuck yes, but u enjoy watching it and i kinda like it. Helluva is definitely better though.
The only good thing about the show is the basic, foundational concept of second chances. The terrible writing and the horrible misrepresentation of sexual assault victims with Angel Dust (why did Vivian have to make him so goddamned horny, is she trying to imply he deserved it???) make for a terrible show that I would actually pay to have deleted from most computers, with the only remaining copy being locked up in a museum for future generations to make fun of and critique.
I'm gonna be real here: Viviziepop writes like an AO3 user.
0:10
It must be nice to research and see the racial undertones when it's mostly daily life to me... 😕
The first movie was good but the sequel aka the book of shadows was terrible it stunk. The most recent recent one Blair witch was really good.two out of three not bad only one stunk . Pretty good franchise
When you find a stream, follow it downstream. Do this with any moving body of water and you will eventually find civilization.
Great essay Daniel! The Horror of Nature has always been my favorite aspect of this film!
When she said America is not that big, I was thinking oh yes it is. I’m English and I think you could get lost on our Island. But I remember standing on a vantage point on the blue ridge mountains and seeing nothing but trees as far as the eye could see and thinking, if you get lost out there no one will find you.
very cool video
Many TH-cam channels who goes and tries to get ghosts on film they copy this concept and must have been huge fans of that movie, or it's just the easiest cheapest laziest way to make a video and upload it. I can't stand those paranormal channels like Omar gosh that one kid who always has a stalker near him wherever he goes searching for another Google search hit. It's getting old really quick
Alright Goldhorn, let's hear watcha gotta stay
The Blair Witch and IT are both movies that terrified me when i first watched and every subsequent watch is the funniest commedies ive ever seen.
Had something scream ar me while i eas in my tent. No it wasnt an animal. Well, at first it sounde exactly like an elk bugle. Then it suddenly sounded like a woman shrieking bloody murder, then it changed to a deep demonic gutrral roar. It kept alternating between the shriek and roar for about 10 secondsm it was quite a shock and i wanted to leave the area but my friend was with me and we didnt know what to do because it just got dark.
things that never happened.
@@puhbrox I bet it was some kind of feline. Even my house cat has a wide range of hellish vocalizations, all of them perfectly designed to wake you up in the middle of the night believing that you’re about to meet your end at the claws of a demonic beast.
@@ewatson3947 Possibly. The only problem is that it was so loud and lasted so long.. Like impossiblly long and the strange alternating pitch was so unnatural sounding. I have come to believe it was another human pranking us with a fake elk bugle and an Aztec death whistle both at the same time. That's all I can come up with.
I was like 10 when this came out and thought it was real. lived next to a wooded area and it spooked the shit out of me anytime going by there 😂 Still scary to me and i always watch it
If there are secrets to found within the woods, you will never see them along a well-trodden path.
And i always thought The Blair Witch was actually real footage for the longest time
Humanity spent up until now , living in the woods, it's not inhospitable to humanity, lol. Maybe not people that enjoy the city, it's garbage , pollution and human designed corruption of others
a while ago, I think this year, I saw a video that put the theory out there that the two guys killed the girl. Can't remember their names, but the more I thought about it the more it made sense. I watched it again this year and although there is more media around the Blair Witch the murder theory makes the most sense and is the most logical. The only way it doesn't make sense is how the tapes were found under a foundation that was really old. Then again the canon of the films is really muddy, I just don't think the people that made the movie knew it was going to be this huge. If you watch that theory and then watch how everything plays out it changes the entire movie.
Love From Indonesia 😭😭😭😭😭
Mind you there's literally no reason to believe Heather was talking out of her ass when she kept saying she knows where they're going - the opposite actually lmao - so i always find it.. interesting that it remains the biggest takeaway (or one of the main ones at least) I mean, people do have their reasons to think it's the case, but there's nothing that ever confirms that to be true.. and yet!
You see in the movie a few times that they've been going around in circles though. So, either she's not doing a good job OR you can believe in the supernatural angle and say it's the witch messing with them. The movie leans into the witch angle heavily though.
This is such an otherwise thorough examination and dive into the Americanization of Le Manège Enchanté - interviews included. That's why i can't get over these two things (like they threw me off so bad lmao) : - The mispronunciation of Pollux? He's "Doogal", he's one of the OG work's biggest legacy. Was it pronounced here as "Polou" bc of the -oo in "Doogal"? Why was the -x treated as silent? 😭 i'm confused - The mention of Canal+ just to basically handwave it away as some kind of enigma or irrelevant question mark. I think you should've either skipped the studio credits or actually looked into it... It's one of the - if not *the* - biggest French channels and studios. They used to be (not anymore imo, the direction they took is a whole conversation on its own) a huge deal when it comes to the distribution and access of foreign media in France
Really well done! The video has good writing and editing that captures the same horror of the film.
I remember watching the movie back in the day with my friends and we all thinking it was real and one of my friends told us: This movie is the reason why you should stay home and do nothing.
In my opinion none of your takes make sense to me
“I don’t think I want to live like Seita.” -Tsutomu Tatsumi (Seita’s original japanese voice actor)
Dude this video made me feel the same anxiety as the actual movie
Vid gave me anxiety, probably because the Blair witch project scares me still with my overactive imagination.
truth
Great video!
05:25 What does DM mean when he wrote: "Channeling MatPat now?"? I don't understand. I would like to understand that, please.
02:30 Who is DM in the subtitles? And why does he says that you're obsessed with Michael Kovach? By the way, why are you obsessed with Michael Kovach? Is it because he's such a good voice actor? Or is it because you have a crush on him? Just asking out of intrigue.
25:13 Why would you watch that adaptation of "The Good Omens"? I don't understand you.
36:01 Wait a minute, mate... How the heck did you get that professor? How did you get him if your main work is not being a TH-camr, but just a hotel receptionist? You evidently had not so much time to make this video to post it more earlier. I don't understand you at all. I don't understand you at all. How? How was it possible? How did the professor helped you? How? How was all of this possible. I don't understand you. I don't understand you.
32:40 Man, I know it's a very depressing movie, but... Why did you really started to cry recently at the minute 32:40 of the video??? There were other depressing moments in the movie and you didn't cry at them. Why, at the minute 32:40, did you really started to cry even just for a bit? Again, I don't understand you. You're really such a mistery, dude. You're really such a mistery.
P.S.: By the way... How the freaking heck did you gather so much information (even information I didn't really know at all about the movie, Takahata, the author and Japan in WW2) about these topics you're talking about? I don't understand. In that sense, you amaze me and I even kinda envy you in a frustrating way, not gonna lie.
What I see is childhood nostalgia. This film has resonated with me since first watch, and hearing more about the production history and the legacy of the original series, it feels tear jerking. And Paul & Andy's words are encouraging and inspiring. Here's to hoping their words reach other artists in the near future.
I still don't understand why the heck did you take two years to make just one single video of 37 minutes and 17 seconds. I don't understand you at all.
How the freaking heck are you capable of even stay calmed and composed during very stressful and anxious times like those times you went through? I don't understand. If I were you, I would mentally collapse completely... And not in a good way (and me being a $u1¢1d@l person doesn't help neither). Since I'm an autistic person, I would meltdown (not every autistic people meltdowns when they face a mental collapse, but hey). So, well, congratulations for being a more rational person than myself, mate.
6:15 "Give me"??? Why?? Is it because you're a lonely and single gay furry who copes with admiring and looking at the existence of furries who are husbando material? Or what?
I had an encounter with the Blair Witch, although she looked more like a Doctor to me. She told me OO EE OO A-A TING TANG WALLA-WALLA BING-BANG!
As a Christian, your overview on how Christ came into the world at the end was better than this "movie." Nicely done, brother!
Wow, this is a really good video
"Valentino has angel literally chained in a contract and he's portrayed evil and unsympathetic, Alastor puts Husk in a similar situation and he still gets to be a quirky silly boy" and with that, you also point out the biggest hypocrisy in the fanbase, if you like Val, you're just as evil as he is, but Alastor is the most well liked character in the series despite having similar morals...as in none
I feel like a lot of people don't understand Alastor, yes while it seems that he isnt portrayed as evil even though he has husk in a similar situation angel is in, that's just not true, the reason he is a silly boi is because he manipulates people to get what he wants, he has no problem using other for his goals, and right now his goal is to get out of the deal he's in so he can regain what he lost and be in control, as literally stated in his finale song, he doesn't get much focus this season and while i think this is true, they could go a different route but it seems to be how it is right now, and the reason the pacing is terrible is because the first season was rushed, though I don't remember why I will give that to you, but I do hope paving gets better, and I think he's using the hotel to use charlie, and I think the relationship between vaggie and charlie should be more explore
I managed to boost my economy to new heights, was adored by my country, would have even become a member of honor after my term had the bombs not dropped...
What do you mean... Hazbin hotel is Clickbait? Like, its advetised as "Rehabilitation in hell" but within the first episode, seconds after the show starts, its already about killing Angels and warring with heaven. That sounds like clickbait to me.
I really hate the overused trope of 'Demons are good, misunderstood and angels are the bad guys!' Which is essentially this entire show in a nuthshell as Vivzie views it.
