Some people I know straight up don't want any superhero movies. I'm tired of MID and AWFUL superhero movies. I think superhero apathy is more in-line with how I feel about them too, and that's sort of where I'm at with Star Wars as well.
I guess the saturation of big budget _spectacles_ weighed down on audiences who view superhero movies with as much jadedness as the zombie trend of the past decade.
I wasn’t a big MCU fan, but I do enjoy most of their films. Though lately I’m just not invested in the larger universe/continuity storyline thing. I enjoy stories with personal stakes more, and yet I’m excited for Spider-Man : Across the Spiderverse.
I, the last defender of Ant-Man and the Wasp, whose youth was dominated by the MCU since I saw Iron Man on my dad's DVD copy when I was five years old and then sat that fateful Thursday night to see Steve Rogers get his dance in 2019, have not seen anything Marvel since Love & Thunder- which I also have not seen. I'll work on my own things, let my friends tell me which ones're actually worth it, and have a spastic breakdown as we head into Across the Spider-Verse because GIVE IT TO ME YAAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
Here's the thing... Superhero Fatigue is a myth because it assumes that all superheroes are the same and all superhero stories are the same.... they aren't. The superhero as a concept is... INCREDIBLY nebulous. What defines a superhero is a hero having extraordinary or superhuman abilities who fights evil... that is a VERY broad definition that can apply to a LOT of characters who aren't even considered superheroes. The Doctor in Doctor Who is basically a superhero for instance. MOST anime and manga characters fit the mold of a superhero despite not being outright called as such. The problem is... it feels like a LOT Of the movies that have come out from Marvel AND DC recently came out at the WRONG time, without anything of real substance to pick up the slack.
I do think there are some specific tropes that define superhero genre in the way the stories are told... and Disney and WB are so bent in using them, that's why they feel so tired now I guess you can argue the Doctor is a superhero... but Dr. Who is a scifi-fantasy show and not downright superhero
I like to call this dilemma _"Assassin's Engagement"_ Every franchise is fighting for our time and attention these days. But take the Assassins Creed games, for example. They are _massive!_ AC: Valhalla can take up to 200 HOURS to complete. But that also means 200 hours not enjoying anything else. So as with this concept, it could you take you hundreds and hundreds of hours, days if not weeks, to watch all the Marvel MCU movies and TV shows, AND we're supposed to care about every character, every event, reference and easter egg? You want me to root and praise all 60zillion characters, each with arching plots and side stories and cameos and tie-ins and spin-offs? And at this point, Marvel and DC can not pump them out fast enough. We're currently getting about _(jesus christ)_ six or seven superhero films a year and when you've got a life to live with other hobbies & interests, jobs, socializing, places to go, people to see, is it any wonder why we're dropping off and crave stories that *DON'T* revolve around superheros making quip after quip? We've had over 15 Years of this now, maybe its time for Marvel to focus their efforts and do maybe 1 or 2 films over the course of a year. Quality over quantity, y'know? 🙂
Falcon and the Winter Soldier is definitely the worst option you could've picked of Marvel's first wave of shows, but I doubt seeing the others would've made a difference. Feeling very similar myself. Great video!
I've found that since the second saga began, I'm only invested in Dr. Strange, Blade, and Thunderbolts (optimistically). The tv shows have been pretty good, but I'm not invested in most of the films.
Now I don't care much for superhero movies anymore. When I was a child I was a fan of Tobby McGuire's Spiderman, but now my tastes have changed. The only superhero movie I like right now is the animated movie "SpiderMan Into The Spiderverse" and Spider-Ham is my favorite character, by the way. P.S.: And... Sorry if what I'm going to say has nothing to do with this comment or the video, but... eeeee... uuuu... seriously... I feel like I have a crush on your fursona, really... His appearance and personality attract me, really, and I want to date him someday and know him and also making him know me, of course. Sorry if I'm acting like a 19 years-old hopeless romantic male craving for a boyfriend. Sorry if I'm kinda a weirdo. Well, good night from Lima, Peru, bye.
I'm not tired of Superheroes, but I am tired of mid superhero movies.

THANK YOU for putting what I was thinking into words. Superhero fatigue isn’t a thing. Turns out people just want quality.

The Spiderverse duology is a big exception here, I'm looking forward to that as well.

Honestly that upcoming kraken movie from DreamWorks seems like it's trying to be a "superhero" movie itself.

Banger vid
The only one I want to see is Blue Beetle 😂
In all honesty I wrote this script before the Blue Beetle trailer came out. I'm willing to give it a shot, and eat crow if need be.

Thank you! I had watched that series because someone compared The Hands of History, a fanfiction I'd been writing at the time, to the show.
wow this is a cool video, that I'm seeing for the first time, right now!
Indeed! Thank you friend, who has never seen any rough draft of this video!

I got superhero fatigue long before Avengers Endgame.
JEEZE, Guardians of the galaxy is from freaking 2014!!
Whhat!!!
super hero fatigue was in the headlines like 8 years ago, I am glad it is finally catching up 😄
Thy have to space them out
