I don't ever feel the need to rewatch the whole movie, only the intro.

Bro even you talking about that intro brought me to tears

Just watching the clips out of context to edit this video made me cry. It's so good.

Regardless of how like, mediocre the middle of this movie is, the intro and the "Thanks for the Adventure" scene both just make the movie for me.
In a way, I think this movie could've been pulled off really well as a Pixar short too. Though, I'm not mad that we got a full feature film, because I do love it. It's a comfort movie for me.

That's the catch I feel. Because sure the middle portion of this movie isn't as strong, but at the same time having that sense of time passing before the 'Thanks for the adventure' reveal I think helps it hit harder. In any case though, absolutely still a great movie!

I absolutely agree with your take on Up. The beginning is amazing, and so poignant. The rest of the movie is fun - with memorable characters and jokes - but it does stray from that heavy hitting emotional center. Great video as always, can't wait to see what you have to say about the other movies in the 100!

What I love about Pixar is their visual and emotional storytelling. Even their more incoherent films, like Up and Inside Out, have emotional weight; packing an emotional punch that hits you in the feels.

to me that 1st part of the movie (I'll admit I did cried at the cinema and always cry when thinking about it)
but I find is a 10/10 short. like that original pixar short of the old man playing chess with him self. "Geri's Game"
The same old man we see in Toy Story 2 restoring Woody
and I always link the music from Up to that old man playing chest with himself
dunno if I', geting this right, but I believe that music is French in nature. Hope I can get confirmation or corrected on that.
In Short. Pixar is great on story telling, specially by showing, not telling. The World needs more of this kind of stories

I agree on this breakdown of Up. It takes what would otherwise be a great movie and makes it only a solid outing.

Just the montage of the intro and thanks for the adventure almost brought me to tears. It’s so great!
Sadly, I got a hot take about it…I feel this is where the “now you have to cry” Pixar moment trend got steam

I could see that, the critical praise for those segments causing a shift in how the stories are told...

Totally agree on the 10/10 short on a 6/10 film summary. The opening promises so much more style and mood than we see later on. If the whole thing had been silent I think it would've been a lot better, but it doesn't really work to cut from relatively realistic dialogue in one scene to dogs flying biplanes in the next. Anyway, great video, and loving this series!
(I hope you've trademarked "Empathy Cadillac")

Say what you will about the movie, but the soundtrack is really good
