‘Want to love it more than I actually do’ is an excellent way to describe how I feel about the Bad Guys. There’s scenes and elements of this film I love, yet so much I’m indifferent towards. The chemistry of the characters is its greatest point to me, I definitely believed in Wolf and Snake’s friendship. Yet so much of its potential fell flat. Instead of a redemption arc montage, the city suddenly loving them after one video was probably my biggest dissappointment.
Despite his character being pretty obviously the twist villain, Richard Ayoade, who played Dean Lerner in Garth Marenghi's Dark Place, was so perfect for the character.
One thing you said earlier in the video that I heavily agree with is how DreamWorks simultaneously wants to appeal to just their target audience and outside of it. It's why crude comedy is so prevalent in a large chunk of their movies. But what made this one stand out was how the wittiness of a lot of elements in the script counterbalances some of the more juvenile and predictable aspects of the plot. There's a lot of clever subversion in the third act that more or less makes up for how easy the twist with Marmalade is. A lot of the jokes that aren't pandering to the babies are really strong. This doesn't excuse the other bits, but I think there's enough balance between both that makes the overall package really strong. Great job on this video tho!
I really liked the bad guys.... as someone who read the books.... and has an ungodly obssesion with Lupin III this was sure a treat of a movie for sure.... especially since we had a few references here and there... not to mention the vioce acting and animation were stellar 😍
Nothing to do with Mr Wolf eh?😂 I felt about them the same way I feel about B99. They’re a great ensemble of characters and need some more action. Snake actually turned out to be my favourite character in the end. He doesn’t spontaneously have a change of heart and levels with wolf at the end about his feelings. I like the humour too. It’s not a fart joke for the sake of a fart joke.
I'm glad to be a DreamWorks fan despite the 20th Century Fox Era was not too good after Paramount toss them aside but I special place my heart ((unlike to Disney nowadays)) any chance you can do review of Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss to see if it can reach new landscapes of Adult Animation I be interested to see what opinion you got on these 2 shows made by Vivziepop? Also great channel and nice character you got
Does the title even fit? Didn't they stop being bad? It's no wonder that the Beauty and the Beast sequels were not actual sequels, they were midquels, because there was no justification for the title anymore.
@@0deadx21 just like how the Madagascar sequels still have the title of Madagascar even though in Madagascar 2 they leave the island and go to Africa or Madagascar 3 where they travel most of Europe
I feel like this was more of a project movie, a great excuse to try NEW animation and engine, with an easy story, enjoyable for all ages and be sure to have "fart jokes" for kids (they took that last way too literal) I agree, this movie should have its own new movie with a more serious story OR! Embrace the absurd wackiness of the 1st one. Give us 2h of them just being Bad guys. Maybe a prequel so we see them escalate to be the Bad Guys, with Diane backstory on the side (bad about this, we don't get to see her interact with WOLF as much, as their relation was established in this movie) SO the other option is a sequel. Maybe even have the 1st few mins play us off with them working for the government as the new special force of Good Guys, only to turn around on the last moment of that intro, and we have an entire Movie of Bad guys, maybe with the Police women chasing them off all over the world like in that old anime "Lupin the 3rd" (we can see Mr. Wolf took a lot of inspiration from that) So, let us have that! -In an ideal world, we would have a cross-over of them and Zootopia. NO explanation, no rhyme or reason, just have the Bad Guys steal something and we have Judy+Nick tracking them. Heck we could even have the Bad guys try to convince Nick to help them, Nick actually joins them to have that last taste of being a bad guy only to help track them down from the inside, but obviously building a genuine friendship with these ruffians...maybe have the bad guys just had over all they stole with the excuse: "A good thief takes pride in being able to steal items, not in the greed or value of the item" (or some cheese line like that)
I really liked the movie and i would like a sequel. Heres a fun fact: in the german language version mr. Shark is spoken by a man who in real live stole previously self colected cheritty money worth 10.000 euros. And the villain does the exact same thing, just with 1 billion dollars.
The trailer made me genuinely excited for an animated movies for a guy in his thirties. Then I watched the film, liked it but felt wanting it to be more.
6:15 "Give me"??? Why?? Is it because you're a lonely and single gay furry who copes with admiring and looking at the existence of furries who are husbando material? Or what?
With DreamWorks track record of sequels I can see it

I really enjoyed The Bad Guys and want a sequel but that's mainly down to the fact it's got heavy Lupin III vibes and I love me some Lupin III

Haven't seen the film, but great video, as always!
Thank you so much!
I agree, The Bad Guys has the potential to have at least a great sequel or even become Dreamworks' next big franchise

This is the superior 2022 animated film that mentions 9/11 congrats! (Jokes aside great vid and agurement)
This movie is dripping with Lupin III references and I love it 😍
