I'm getting ready to paint the 79 GMC that I inherited from dad. I previously purchased Eastwood's Concours gun with three tips. I'm an armature and last painted some I my old cars in the 80's. Back then I'd use my dad Binks 7 gun. Tons of orange peel back then and lots of water paint. I'm going to use Eastwood's Satin Black and this urethane primer. I love these videos. Kevin is such a pro! Wish I could paint have as good as him. I'm gonna take my time with the block sanding.
The way they've fitted the front guard vents is way cool, great sleek look. If you're going to paint ANY car or panel, ALWAYS have pure clean breathable air, because simple pressure regulators leave moisture & oil in the air & it gets trapped in the paint & hey presto, humidity blisters which only way to fix is to totally strip & refinish the car, which means all repairs too. So make or buy a good filter system so all your hard work stays good & lasts.
I would agree when it comes to the 66 Chevelle, probably has the most beautiful body lines in my opinion. I know everyone likes the 70's but I take a 66/67 any day
Great video Kevin, although most of your viewers are the home DIYers, you should lead by example by not spraying isocyanates with exposed skin. Head sock and coverings are a must for safety.
I bought this same paint. And mixed it 4 to 1 with activator. I even mixed it with 10 percent reducer and it still would hardly flow out of a 2.5 orifice @28psi. I had to run so much air to get it to come out that it dried instantly on edges of spray pattern as I passed the gun down the side of the car. It would never travel out of a 1.4 orifice like shown here.

feff Looks like it sands extremely easy... But it doesnt look like it has much build to it... Notice how quick he hits filler spots? Most high build primers have more building characteristics to them... Just keep that in mind

So if you block your 2k primer with 180grt, can you get rid of the scratch marks by going over it with 400grt before paint? Or does it need reprimed again?

It is to bad some idiot put a chitty engine in a Ford truck . They just bastardized it for me . Chitty ops I mean Chevy engines are the worst engine ever and the cars are even worse .

I loved my Binks 7. Great for the acrylic enamels back in the 80s.

What grit sandpaper did you use on the urethane primer? For the polyester it was 120 correct? I'm assuming about 180 or 220 for urethane? Thank you

Wouldn't it be a better idea to use a different color primer, so you can see things easier, at all stages of the car's life/ownership?
I am getting my 74 Pontiac Ventura sand blasted soon. Did you apply epoxy primer before putting on the urethane primer?
Can you use a primer surfacer instead of a sealer.
How long do you let the urethane primer sit before sanding. Can says 3-4 hours, but I have also heard to let it sit for a few days.

no mention of what grit sand paper you were blocking with? i'm thinking about buying some of this primer to try, seams to sand pretty easily

Could you of left it in the 2k urethane primer surfacer as your topcoat if you wanted?
Would fade no UV protection on a 2k, epoxy generallly you can, but just go satin single stage if that’s what you want, not the easier to use.

After 180 grit i usually hit it again with 320 and it should get all the scratches out. Use guide coat to watch them all disappear

You should not skip spraying the color or basecoat.

why I have to put a 2 k primer before base paint ,what the purpose of a 2k primer, and the differences be twine 1 k primer and 2k
helps hide and hold the paint.plus its for blocking .2k has to be sanded before base atleast 400.1k drys by itself.2k needs an activator.2k is better
