    Excellant job of promoting Eastwood products and basic painting techniques. Give your painter another twenty years of experience and he will really become a pro. Free tip, throw the gun flow meter away and test spray pressure against your forearm. Give your clear more time to dry between coats and it will dry down a lot smoother, eliminating a lot of corrective after-sanding. I have painted for 45 years and I am still learning. Best regards.

    Hey Kevin, can I spray Eastwood interstate black single stage paint on top of Eastwood epoxy primer without sanding it , or do I need to wet sand?

    • @eastwoodco
      @eastwoodco  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      For the best results, follow the full Epoxy Primer application instructions.
      "Eastwood Epoxy Primer should be applied in medium wet coats, with a 30-minute flash period between each (at 70 °F). Typically, one to two coats is enough to achieve the desired 1 mil. dry film thickness, though more material may be applied as needed. Additional build requires longer flash periods between coats. Epoxy primer may be topcoated after approximately 30 minutes (wait 45-60 minutes after applying more than two coats), or up to about five days. After five days, primer MUST be scuff sanded prior to topcoat application. May be sanded (wet) the day after application. Wait two to three days before sanding dry."
      Hope that helps.

So I start at the roof center line working in toward's the drip rail that way I'm not hanging out over freshly laid paint . But I guess which ever get's it covered work's right !

      unless you have imperfections, drops, sags or fish eyes in your base color, you absolutely do not ever sand the color coat. Go 3-5 coats of clear and sand at 3rd coat, and then cut and buff 5th coat

    So, if high flow air fittings ("3/8 inch ID") are so important (see 22:28), then why does the Conours Pro gun ship with 1/4 inch fittiings?

    • @edwardzx7
      @edwardzx7 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Rocksterrr These guns don't use a lot of cfm s ! So really you don't need high flow pieces. I have a concours with a 1.2 tip, and use a 2hp 8 gallon to paint cars. It works well for me.

      Because it is not a gun that any professional would use. It's target audience is the DIY guy. HiFlo fittings are not absolutely necessary but helpful. HVLP starts at the wall of your paint booth, set the guage there around 35 lbs allowing for pressure drop so that by the time it gets to the tip of your gun you have the recommended air pressure (read the owners manual of the gun for optimal pressure settings usually between 26-30 lbs at the inlet of your gun) to make your gun spray a nice even pattern. Now in your air hose there is high volume of air pressure. Using typical 1/4" air fittings pinches that off and there is not enough room inside of your paint gun to make up the difference to get you to high volume again. Essentially you are blowing a center concentrated pattern on to whatever you are spraying. You have to work harder to make up for it and a less experienced painter can get tiger stripes in the base coat even on solid colors. It is important to pay attention to these little details.

      +Brook S. At 21:53 you'll see Kevin spray a Sealer Coat (he uses Epoxy Primer) to cover any areas that may have been sanded through. Then he sprays the basecoat and clear.

      Epoxy primer is never suggested as a wet on wet direct coat for base coat. If you spray epoxy over your break throughs you have to wait for them to dry and re sand those areas!!!

    I noticed you taped off the inside of the car and the under body. What if you have a vehicle that came from the factory with the inside, outside, and under body all color matched? I have an early 60's truck that has a steel dash and every interior part, exterior part, and under body were all painted the same. What is the process of painting every square inch of the vehicle inside, outside, and underneath all the same color?

    This question is more directed at Eastwood, but if ya got an answer feel free to answer. I noticed some of those cans say for professional use only, what is professional use? And do you make colors and clears that a "diesel tech" not "body tech" can buy and use?

    Kevin, how do I powder coat a frame on my 325i E30 when I get the body off and have it sand blasted. Heat lamps? And for how long?

    Hello Kevin, thank you for the Video, very informative. I have one problem here. I am spraying metallic lime gold (off the mustangs) on my aussie built Falcon. The body has been block sanded and primed within an inch of her life, straight is an understatement. The problem is, on the final cut with 800 grit, i have very fine scratches on concave areas where the side of the paper touches without pressure. What can i do to eliminate these? I was thinking about a very light scuff with a flexible pad without creating low spots. Would this be the go? I know it is a hard one to answer as you have not seen my work or know my capabilities. Cheers Frank from Australia....
