I love when you get ‘honest’ with people mate. You’re the ‘pro’ and the ‘teacher’ in your shop and show…I would think Jolene and Jim would be very appreciative of your honesty. If those watching can’t handle it…that’s their problem. 👍🏻

I used to work with a painter when I was a young man, he could fix a wrecked car an put a beautiful paint job on it .He didn't have a nice paint booth. Just an old metal building and we had just finished painting a car one day and someone came by and banged on the door. Dust just filtered down all over our pretty paint job. As far as taping a car up,I've done that too. Watching your videos brings back memories. Thanks Chad!!

I am older. I work and learn - pride that I do my best. Watching you for my first time, you bring my memories of my time prior to my now 17 surgeries (most big ones happened to my spine). But watching you reminded me of working hard on repairing and painting my mom's car so many years ago. Today I remember my mom's pride in her son and several body/painters complimenting me on a fantastic job well done under the conditions I faced. To you I complement you on the work you have done with the results you have achieved throughout your shop..... Fantastic to an older fellow who prides myself in doing the best job I was able and truthfully you do the same!!!

Hi Chad, necromancing here. I heard your name mentioned in a less than favorable way, so I had to check you out 🤣🤣
First, people want to be told what they want to hear, not the truth. All reality shows are scripted, even the Automotive shows. Anyway, well done, seeing as you don't have a multimillion dollar facility, you contend with the reality of this, and as far as I am concerned, you are doing a great job. Don't worry about the haters, as the song says, "it's your thing, do what you want to do". Also I could actually see the color of the paint going to red in the cup, so I knew you would be OK, your video's will help a lot of DIYers. Oh and thanks for keeping it PG13, and not every third word a bomb.

I'm amazed at all the different trades chad has, then he combines them all for a finished costum project. There are only a few of us that are that talented. He reminds me of myself when painting, always checking and very impatient for the final finished product. People have no idea how much work there is to get to the actual stage of painting. The easy part is the spraying. Great job Chad.

    • @thetriggerman954
      @thetriggerman954 ปีที่แล้ว +3

The easy part is spraying? Yeah ok 👌🏼 painting an even film, even texture, no dry spots, no runs, while keeping overlap even, keeping paint to a desired and consistent peel throughout the entire job. All while not spraying to heavy to prevent solvent pop but also not to light. Then keeping in mind to give proper flash time so that the paint doesn't dieback on you. And while doing all of that still making sure to not get to much dirt into your paint. I could keep going but I think you get my drift. Mr. BODYMAN 😂😅

Thanks for your videos I am an industrial mechanic have been for the last 40 years so I’ve got a kubota tractor I baby it had a large branch come down and broke my instrument cover and dented my hood so I have everything flat and straight thanks to you and now I’m getting ready to pour some paint on and strange as it is I’m shooting that same color orange so this video I believe was meant for me to see I’ve painted before but it’s been over 38 years and the paint supplies have changed drastically so with your help I will shoot this like a pro and get it back up and ready for new dents and dings thanks again for your sharing of your experience and your time I look forward to seeing your next video and learning more about this new method of art work. It’s with Great Respect. RR

Hi Chad and Jolene, Chad you do a great job considering the work conditions you have to deal with. If I could give one piece of advice it would be for you to cut in around the edges, windshields etc. then spray the main parts. I have been painting cars for over 35 years and this has worked the very best for me.

Chad, I've been following you for a while and have great respect for what you do in your workshop. What I love is that you do all this without very expensive equipment. But sometimes I ask myself some questions about the tittles that you put in your videos. For example, Spraying with a very cheap paint gun without having orange peel. If your parts are sprayed in this video, you do not show that you do not have an orange peel. I certainly expected you to want to prove this, for example by putting a light on it or zooming in with the camera. We have not been able to see this at all.

I've recently well....for the last 3yrs been moving towards starting my own liquid wrap/vinyl wrap/paint business, and I've found myself so worried about everything when it comes to the build, and design of my booth, as it is a home made booth, and not a professional $20,000+ one. Just relieves some of my stress to see the quality of work that can be accomplished with so little...not that your shop is trash, or anything like that I'm just saying it's pretty cool. I have no experience painting cars but I’ve got an ass of experience painting cabinets . Always used oil based products. I’ve found that if you have two separate containers of paint it’s best to “box” (mix) them together to assure color consistency. After boxing is the time to separate. I also use a product called Bloxygen to extend the shelf life and prevent skin over. It’s an inert gas that settles on top of the paint and pushes the air aside or if you use enough completely out of the can. If you have leftover paint from a job it’s great for long time storage.
I really enjoy your videos and someone else commented that they liked that there was no raucous music to drown the speaking, I concur.
One last comment. The worst part of spraying is the gun cleaning. I always tried to capture as much of the cleaner solvent as possible and let it “settle out” for a day or two and poured it into a container to be re-used as a gun cleaner again. After spraying used solvent through a few times I’d then switch to new for a couple of cleanings. Solvent costs more than gasoline so it deserves to be used as much as you can.

Just know what the Bible says about truth.
It says know the truth and tell the truth and the
    truth shall set you free.
And I think that you Chad is a extremely
honest person and tells the truth in everything
    That you do.
And your work is some of the best work on
    You tube.
Or as good or better than the other car vehicle
    fabricators on TH-cam.
I sincerely enjoy your and Jolene’s channel.
    And that is the TRUTH ! ! ! ! 💨 !

    there is comfort in lies
    but pain in the truth
to many people accept comfort in the lie, the the reality in the truth!!
keep true to yourself buddy, and keep being truthful!!

I have been told by paint companies that the same paint may not match depending on what batch it was made from. so when I buy paint in 2 different containers to make sure my car matches I will mix the same colors together in containers. So if i bought 1 gallon and a pint or 2 gallons I would pour them together and mix and them pour them back into their original paint buckets. Now I know that both buckets have been mixed and will match. This has happened to me before so I play it safe.

I enjoyed watching you. From all the TH-cam videos I watched yours is the best. I use to spray cars and getting ready to redo a c/10. 86.
But to the point you are the only one I found that lays the paint down like I did. Thanks.

Chad just out of curiosity why do you use the other products instead of a wax and grease remover?? Is it cost or preference ? Thanks and how long have you had good luck using them? Thanks bud.

    Aloha Chad
This video is the first of many that I need to watch.
I scrolled through your video list, I’m looking for basic taping of a car so I can paint it.
I’m not in your caliber of bodywork or painting, but I’d like to learn. I’m 55 years old and want to try something new. Any tips or instructions from you would be a big help for me.
Also sorry for your bad weather, I’m in Hawaii, I wish I could send you some of my sunshine.

    Awesome instruction
Back in the 80s. We used to mist our paint room with water to keep the dust down prior to painting. It was difficult for a kid to understand "mist" vs "drench".
