Its so annoying how much "conflicting" information people give out in painting and bodywork overall. All that really matters is that Kevin has the obvious credentials, experience, collaboration, cars and material (that hes kind enough to provide) that render him the individual worthy of being the one to listen to. So annoying the amount of dislikes on this video and stupid comments here by people who appear to just be here to nitpick and point out any potential inconsistency or method that differs from what is "right" or "wrong." get a life people
I work with a guy who says my blocking and putty application skills are absolutely garbage! Thank you for this very, super informative video. Hopefully I can show him up soon! :)
Hi Kevin , what's happen ? Great videos you all do . Have a question concerning the proper primer to use on the inside of a new body panel , don't want any rust issues , If you know what i mean . Would using a self etching primer be good or just regular autobody primer . Thanks in advance for any input on this question .
what is the proper way to prep my quarter panel extensions, they are made of pot metal and have the original paint plus one paint job, they are on a 67 Impala by the way. I cant seem to find info on working on them and I dont want to mess them up
Hey Kevin, I'm restoring a vehicle by myself and had a few questions: - do you recommend using the soft sanders for the initial shaping process (first coat of high build primer/first session of blocksanding primer) or would you recommend using something with less flex and deflection like a durablock, or something with absolutely no deflection like an acrylic block for the first session of high build, or is an acrylic block in general just better for straight panels from the get go until the higher grits? I used the blue soft sanders for the first session but after wet checking it there was still a good amount of waves (or what I think to be waves? - I can't find any side by side comparison videos for a car that has waves in the paint vs a car that has no waves so I can only assume them to be waves) or is this normal for the first session of blocksanding with 120 - is there any issue with wet sanding with 120 grit, then with 220, and further or should I start the initial blocksanding sessions with a dry block then switch over to wet sanding after?
so the hard blocks are for doing corners? im just learning how to do this, i have never used a block before i could never get the bondo perfect when i primer over
Clicked link in video and black page with just ! on left center and no video.. just checking the tips before a job.. was never picky before but was only shooting paint on work trucks that got beat on.. so also whatever gun you mentioned, you no longer sell...

dude you should have covered that mustang up when your painting and flatting right next to it. I bet the overspray and dust is a nightmare for you to clean off them cars after these demo's !
Worst thing you can do is not let this 2k primers cure along time..or you'll wind up with low spots n dimples in the paint. It just keeps curing after paint
You were doin a great job, then u held the flat block with one hand cause a center pressure point on the block bad idea to do if u want something straight
you think he doesnt know that? my god if you think you know so damn much, why the hell are you even here? its about helping people learn the basics and providing fundamental understanding, rather than just trying to accumulate random facts. The first thing he says when he picks up the block is "they do flex, they do curve" you moron
wrong block for that edge. if you look there is only a very small area of that hard block on the edge. look at the first pass over the edge that he makes. 18.40. you can see that only about a quarter of an inch of that block is making contact with the surface of the door. all he is going to do is make flat spots . he needs to use a more flexable block

How does one sand the interior of the trunk and hood cavities? Any videos?
If you're trying to remove paint and rust, you can try blasting or a chemical like Eastwood Rust Dissolver or Paint Stripper.

The panel is not ready for block sanding, period. Get the bodywork right, FIRST.

figure out the production before you start or just dump the live shit. If you just keeping presentation going you can answer questions at one time
Its fake, so......

step one is to use a block that is actually flat and doesn't give and lose form from pressure like all of the foam/rubber blocks do.
