OUR STORY SO FAR:
We are Cory & Kristen Williams and in August 2014 we made the long drive from Southern California to Alaska to move into our new home in Eagle River. Here we’ve had the chance to explore Alaska, experience lots of wild events, meet lots of great people and endure the extreme temperatures that the north is known for. On December 20th, 2014 we got engaged after our Polar Plunge under the Northern Lights then later married by our favorite lake on May 23rd, 2015. Then on June 23rd, 2016 we had our first child. A baby girl named Chell.

WHAT DOES "DudeLikeHELLA" MEAN?:
"Dude" is me, Cory. I am the dude. "Like" is a joining word which is used to express similarities and "HELLA" is slang for "a lot" or in my case, "the greatest amount". So together, "DudeLikeHELLA" means "The best me I can be".

Although ,make no mistake, I LOVE all the episodes with Chell and your interactions with her. I actually just tuned in when I saw your birth video in my 'recommended' vids and thought to myself....."hey....that looks like the mean kitty dude". And since,of course I went back and watched the whole love story leading up to that. Keep up the good work Daddy!

I've never, in all the years of watching SMPFilms, DudelikeHella etc. seen that 4:00 Cory Face... It actually made my heart jump. Awesome that it's in the video though, every step of the way.

Dude if I lived near the US id love to go to vlogger fair! Isn't it the hardest thing to accept as a parent just how fast they grow out of everything! We have these star sleep suits that we will be gutted about our baby growing out of!

Corey I love how no matter what happens you can always find the positive path it really helps me find him the better path when I'm feeling down or when something bad happens to me. Yes, losing a laptop isn't the worst thing that could happen but it's still something that's bad because it cost a lot of money and there's memories on it. but thank you for giving me a better viewpoint when things go wrong

I admire how you approach the situation! You counted the blessings all through and then compare them with losing your laptop to put it into perspective.. it's one good way to cope with a shitty day. You're a good example for your followers :)

Dude, if ever I've seen a vlog capture what life is like as a parent, this one particularity paints it well. You have all these awesome intentions and then you let one thing slip and shoots it all to hell. Props to you for staying fairly positive and give your wonderful bride a smooch for helping keep your mood elevated. You're awesome!

Things just seem to happen to laptops. The first laptop I ever had I spilled soda on (on Halloween). I had the hard drive crash on one, then the ram goes, luckily it was an excuse to get a new one. The biggest thing is to learn from mistakes and keep growing, and Cory, that is what you do best. You keep growing, keep learning, and keep telling us all to live more fully

Corey, that is a good perspective that you had concerning the laptop. It probably isn't the laptop itself that caused your pain, but the memories it contained. (I.e. Pictures, etc.). But in the end, it is the moments & experiences you have that are the most precious not the item. Love to you all. Beth in Mini-So-Tah :-)

Kristen, use Cory's Iditarod coat this winter when feeding Chell. I'm sure you'll both fit inside and Cory can zip you up!! We had our first snow here in the Colorado mountains this week!

Noticed the Laptop is a Macbook, if it's close to a Wifi router it's likely it could be tracked by your iCloud account, even if its closed. Give it a shot if you haven't already, you never know, someone might have picked it up.
Cory, I'm groaning for you. I haven't lost a laptop before, but my first computer's hard drive froze/melted and nothing could be saved. I sat and cried like a baby. But Kristen is right...the three of you were fine and it was a beautiful day. My happy was Chell's talking...you can always entertain me by filming her talking away...that is always a sweet sound!
Totally true. my test of patience was no where NEAR as trying as yours. went to go to the movies at one of my fave theaters. On the way ran across an accident, started to drive on then turned around and went back. people were cool, they were fine. so turned back around and went on my merry way. got to the theatre thinking I still had 15mins left. nooooo I was 20 minutes late and it was gonna be 2.5hrs before the next showing. so. got tickets for a special screening of ANOTHER movie I'm taking my mom to there NEXT week and turned around an came home. missed my movie but got the tickets for taking mom out so..*shrug*

My husband placed the amp (daughter was in a band) in the trunk of his truck and forgot to shut the back and as he drove off and turned the corner it slid out. He was kickin himself as well.

I was having a really rough morning back in high school, I can't remember everything that went wrong, but it felt like everything. I was running late, my laundry wasn't dry (dryer was breaking) and all I had that was clean were those cold we clothes (it was fall and very cold... I forgot to grab my jacket). My mother was so kind as to make me a to-go mug of coffee, with my favorite ceramic cup. I got in my car, went into reverse, and watched the cup fly off the hood, spill coffee all over my windshield, and shatter on the pavement infront of me. My mom felt so awful (she saw it happen, it was too late for her to warn me).
I get how you feel. My printer broke this week and I lost 2 days of work because of it. At least you stayed possitive. I just complain to anyone unfortunate enough to listen.
I'm sure you guys have made this connection already, but have you noticed that Chell has a lot of owl items and she says "whoo, whoo, whoo" ~ your owl baby is so cute :)
Sorry about the laptop.. but it does mean you get to buy a new gadget!

My ex husband was the star of leaving things on the roof of the car and driving off. His cell phone, my glasses, several cups of coffee and cups of soda he just bought at the gas station. It happens, best thing to do is try to remember not to put things up there. I'm sorry you lost your laptop, it sucks, but on the other hand you are so blessed. I truly believe everything happens for a reason. Maybe it was time for you to get a new awesome laptop! Before I go I just have to mention Chell and her beautiful big blue eyes. She is such a cutie pie! Thanks for the vlog! Maybe someday you guys will come to St. Louis, MO for a vloggers fair. I would love to meet you.
As for your laptop, could be worse. I live in Louisiana and last month we got so much rainfall in one weekend the Amite River rose high enough to flood almost an entire parish(county in other states). My house got four feet of water inside, my parents got two, and my grandparents also got four feet.
And we were the lucky ones.
I SO wish I could make it to Vlogger Fair in Seattle...So close and yet so far...
Have you looked anywhere near the driveway or the direction you were headed? Think of the trajectory it have to get sent flying onto the roadside most likely. Find it before someone else does or the bad weather happens. You would be amazed what survives!
I am so sorry Cory you lost your laptop. I would have been so sick to my stomach about it. But like Kristen said it is a material thing and can be replaced. It is awful to loose your picture and things.
I love watching chell growing up with u guys I have three kids and they grow up so fast ... chell is growing up so fast ... I left my wallet on top of my car and I drove 30 mins away then I couldn't find it so I went back where I was and I was lucky that someone found it and turned it in and nothing was taken

pack everything up so bugs and dirt can't get in and store them away for baby number two. maybe you can work a seasonal clothing storage area in your re-organized garage? i did that with my two boys and it was very convenient. that baby was just more adorable than usual today, lol. cuteness overload. i've left items on top of my car twice, one i went right back and actually found it! so miracles do happen. i'm sorry that happened tho, i know you're kinda bummed. 😢
Corey! The hard drive is almost indestructible. 99% of the time you can recover files. Those laptops are actually made very well, even when ran over by a car. You would be surprised, good luck and love the videos.

Everything happens for a reason. Lap top Scmap top, so what. Kristen is right! It's just a thing. Have I lost things? Sure, but but truely, better things come along, trust me.

get Dropbox it will save every photo to a cloud like thing and even if you lose a pc from fire ect you can go download Dropbox and open it and see all of your photos

Does it only get as cold as 10 - 0 degrees fahrenheit there? That's only -12, -17* Celsius. Is that as cold as it gets there? Where I live, it gets below -45*C here! and that's around -50*F
I feel your pain, I accidentally deleted 8 GB of pictures from my phone trying to make space, and I literally cried like a baby( worse than Chell), my boyfriend calmed me down. He tried for 3 hours trying to download every app to try to get it back, he got a few back, but not all of it. I'll tell you the same thing he told me, you can make new memories. So cheer up buttercup, make new memories, you have a beautiful family, enjoy it! 💙

Oh geez XD...I encourage you guys to get carbonite, it will back everything up for you, then if something like this happens, and get a new laptop; you can go to the carbonite website and open all your files there. I have one and I love it cuz its backs every doc, music and videos files for you. You didn't drive too far to fall off...right?....It would be funny if it fell into your front yard, sitting there.
Please let us know if you ever find it! I asked St, Anthony to help you guys find it.
if you find your laptop you can still try to recover the data from the HDD using a sata to USB cable or docking station. I encourage you to go look for the laptop!

As soon as the car started reversing I was like ahhh the laptop
I drove off with all of my important paperwork on top of my car. My kids birth certificates, my marriage license, etc because I went to file for WIC. It was blowing all over the place and my neighbor stopped and picked it all up and brought it to me. I didn't realize it until I got to WIC. I was sick to my stomach for hours until my neighbor brought me paperwork with tire marks on it. I have it all. Maybe a miracle will happen!
lol... Trials and tribulations. So did you not walk the driveway and road? Logic says it'd have fallen off fairly quickly.

If the laptop fell off your car it will probably be near your house, walk along the road in the direction you drove from your house. Even if it is broken You can recover the hard drive hopefully and keep all the data, all the pictures all the files. Good luck! and keep living like Hella!
My bet is it will be near a turn where he accelerated. Just sitting on the side of the road, twiddling it's proverbial thumbs waiting to be found.

I love how patient you guys were about everything. When my iMac crashed with all my important work I truly got upset about it. I need to just take a step back and breathe. Also, I can't believe how fast babies grow out of the newborn sizes! I feel like maybe we shouldn't buy that many newborn clothes? Thats going to be a tuff part.

Cory speaking from experience most things left on top of a car fall off within a half mile. Get out there and check the driveway and the neighborhood. If you find it you might be able to recover the data.
Your laptop will turn up: either you will find it, or one of your many uninvited stalk... uh... visitors will look for and find it. I just hope if it's the latter, they're not the creepy kind.
I think it's so cute that Chell's nursery theme is owls and she always makes little owl noises! 8:47 Cory, I agree about today being a test of patience. These crappy things that happen will eventually help you teach your daughter how to deal with them and stay positive.

Kristin I nursed outside in -25C weather, at first it was a shock to the girls but baby kept me warm, plus I has a cheap Walmart fleece blanket that I had for outdoor nursing
