    Kristen, it is a delight to see you go back to your old energetic self. Having a baby takes a lot out of you, never mind the fact that you are nursing 24/7. It makes my heart happy to see you bouncing around and hugging Cory! I see a sparkle in both of you that is delightful and wonderful. It is hard to have alone time since you have no family in town to allow you date nights. But I love the fact that the two of you now have time after Chell goes to bed to be a couple and enjoy some alone time every night. Well done! All new parents need sometime to just be a couple and you two are showing ideas of how this can work for other couples in your situation. Thank you!

    Hey Cory! I do animal rescue work and the first thing to do is get a rope or leash on them so he doesn't run into the road. Next, I would put him in your garage or one of the sheds in the backyard until you're able to help him find his owner. He could get super cold with that short fur if he was tied up outside with no shelter.
    Then, just take him for a walk and see if you can find the owner. If you can't, then take him to a vet or animal rescue and see if he is microchiped. Most pets are these days. The microchip will tell you the owners info. If no luck with a chip then take him to animal care and control. They will house him there until the owner is found.
    Hope the handsome boy is ok! Good luck!!

    Cory what a sweet vlog all the way through. I love the light in the last bit with you and Kristen. The music behind the Sparta and Loki sparring match was hilariously well done. So glad the dog is back home, too. Thank you! P.S. -- I was wondering if Chell is going to cut her first tooth soon. I know it's a tiny bit early, but not unheard of, for the first tooth to start coming in at 3 months.

    If Chell is drooling A LOT and really fussy, check her gums to see if she has a tooth coming in. I really recommend Hyland's Teething Tablets! Those things were a Godsend with my kids!!!!

    • @Kristen242008
      @Kristen242008 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The tablets dissolve as soon as they hit moisture. I would usually put one in their mouth and rub it around a bit until it dissolved. They really help with teething babies!

    • @DahjerCanaan
      @DahjerCanaan 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Or whiskey. My dad dabbed some whiskey on his finger to help me when I was teething. My mom got mad apparently but I think it still worked.

    I remember when my best friends dog ran away when I was probably 8 or 9. We where so worried that he might get hurt, but our parents assured us he was gonna be back any day. Found out later that he'd been hit by a car and killed a few miles away. The world is lucky to have good people like you who will taken in and look after a stray dog. Thank you Cory.

    • @raychumon
      @raychumon 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      "wander off to die" really dude? chill. the dog is safely at home now. it's the original owner's responsibility for letting the dog wander off in the first place, but don't make it sound so dramatic.

    As a recommendation, don't wash Chell's hands after handling the cats. The more things she's exposed to, the better her immune system will be, and the less allergies she will potentially develop. Over-cleanliness can be more detrimental than beneficial nowadays.

    Our community has a Facebook page for lost dogs. Sometimes you can take them to your local vet for safe keeping if your house isn't suitable. Depending on the vet, they might kennel them for free. Some don't.

    When we come across a stray dog we usually bring it inside our garage. If it doesn't have any tags and no one seems to be looking for it, then we take it to our local shelter. But most dogs will return home on their own so long as A: it hasn't rained and B: the area doesn't have a lot of heavy traffic. In fact some people actually let their dogs roam around, especially in rural areas or areas similar to where you live.

  • @owendawson2003
    @owendawson2003 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    If you find a stray try and take them to a vet or animal shelter. A lot of dogs don't have visual tags but are instead microchiped and most places will hold the dog until they find the owner or make other arrangements.

  • @wildfireamv

  • @sheilahag
    @sheilahag 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Next time you find a dog Cory, take it to a vet - have them check the dog for a chip (they usually do not charge for checking for a chip) then contact the owner; if no chip, take the dog's picture and take to the animal shelter; use the picture you took & make flyers saying you took the dog to the animal shelter & give the the animal shelter's phone number. That way he'll be safe & get food.

      @Cloxxki 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I'm across and ocean and a continent and I'm worried!
      Does one not bring such a dog to a shelter? Where does one ask when one's dog has gone for an unscheduled walk?
      I do like that pets are free to go when they please. To be sure their stay is voluntary.
      Also, the dog's owner might be in trouble, dog just being clumsy at finding help...

    • @Meeeesje
      @Meeeesje 7 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I know right?! Never just leave the dog behind (or tie it to a tree next to the road). He could already have been hit by a car or caused an accident where people could get hurt.
      Put him on your porch. Give him excess to water. After contacting neighbours, call the vet or shelter. They can see if he's chipped and take further care of him.
      He looked like such a sweety!

    our two dogs got away (both chipped) I now NEVER have them off dog leads, leashes and ropes because they can't be trusted. They both took off to the huge forest behind us (suburb's and country homes all over, and a large highway many dirt roads) so we were very worried. 4 of us went into the thicket, calling. One came back the next day, the second came back the second day. We really thought they were dead, hit by car or many taken and kept (they are wonderful dogs). We put shirts up on tree's so they could 'smell' us in the wind (they have amazing smell factory and can smell for miles). We think it was a God thing they came back in one piece.

    Cory you have a garage and that shed in the backyard and that cage you had around your squash! And leashes! Plenty of places to corral a dog! I've had many animals show up at our house over the years. All we do it leash em up with water and then knock on doors or such. The wildlife gets taken to the wildlife care rescue lol. One time a neighbor brought us a baby weasel they found.

    Animals often somehow, in a weird way, feel that it's a child and doesn't attack.
    My mom's cat was never around babies until my sister's oldest son (he's 4 now) was born, but he's never ever bitten him nor attacked him and he's had times when he got too much fur in his hands and really tossed and pulled at it, Tiger (the cat) seems to think its5 tiny humans way of affection and only purrs and headbutts him. Hah. 😂

      And what would you suggest he should have done with the dog? Bring him into an unfamiliar house, not knowing how he would be around other dogs, or cats, or children? Cory had no way of knowing if the dog was socialized around other animals.

    • @lilyjameson5156

      SubeTheWench Did I ever say to bring him into the house? NO. That's your ignorant thought which would put his family and pets in danger. Just like many others have said, he could've put him in the garage, used the shed in the back, fenced off an area in the front, etc. He has a huge property. He could've done a ton of different things to hold the dog until he could get him scanned for a microchip and find the owner.

    People in the comments really don't give animals any credit.. Most dogs actually do know how to get home.. Not every pet out there is hopeless;; the dog from 3 farms from ours always comes by for a visit, they're really not that dumb.. And cory tried to find it after so why are people so pissed. ;;
    As for cats, most cats are actually pretty patient with babies and find them interesting;; my 15 y/o cat had never seen a baby in their life but when my friend brought her little girl over she was the most patient and sweetest cat ever;; its such a nice thing to watch too

    Cute dog. Yes, you can stop Chell from grabbing the cats or dog. The cats and dog will not understand your telling them to not hurt Chell if she accidentally hits them or grabs their fur too tightly and really, it is not fair that they be asked to allow her to hurt them unless it is minor. And her grabbing onto their fur tightly is not a minor thing. If they defend themselves because she has done these things, it is not their fault nor hers. At her age, you really should not let her grab their fur until she has the capability to quickly release her grip and until she learns to not grab anything so tightly. It is the best and safest thing to not let her touch them at all right now. When she has mastered the release reflex, stopped having the jerky movements with her hands and arms and when she clearly can understand she must not grip them tightly or constantly pet them, you can more safely let her pet them, but with assistance and supervision. I know you want her to get to know them, love them, but they also must be protected from any accidental harm or from hurting her because of defending themselves. Also, it would be good for both you and Kristen to sit down and discuss under what circumstances/how you will allow the animals to defend themselves against anything Chell might do not surely not mean to.

    When she grabs to hard, you can still open her tiny fists and say nice touches or gentle touches. She is still young right now, but soon her brain will make the connection between those words and your actions if you start now. Also remove her from them if shes being rough ( even though she doesn't mean to) the fault should not always rest on the animal to be kind. I can also reccomend you stop letting her grab your face so hard becauae thats showing her thats it's okay. I work with infants and I hate when parents let their children poke their eyes or put their fingers in their mouth because they do it to the other babies as well and either get bit or scratch their eye or pull their hair. Young infants are capable of understanding more than we think.

    Glad you've found the owner! Whew!!! What a good heart you have.
    As a member of the unofficial "community rescue squad," (read: soft-hearted-suckers) I have a list of steps I routinely follow. Yes. Routinely. Like at least one a year. Usually twice. And, yes, I do have five dogs and five cats (my ceiling). And, yes, the two are related. :)
    1) I do have a plan for where to put "intakes." (I keep an extra kennel and have small pen away from the house). In your case, maybe your garage?
    2) Make use of Facebook. Chances are your community has a lost and found/pet-finder type group. Also, I'll bet your community also has a yardsale type group as well. They are usually open to lost and found pet ads. Post info about the dog, but not his picture. Ask for someone to prove ownership by answering a question (like identify the collar, etc). For instance--
    "Found male bully-breed-type dog. Give description of dog and collar to claim." This protects the dog from "flippers" (despicable people who pick up dogs for nothing and re-sell them on craigslist or worse).
    3) I DO knock on doors, but do so never alone. (Husband or grown son always goes with me)
    4) ASAP take the dog to the nearest vet or animal shelter to check for a chip.
    5) At the end of the day, if you are not in a position to "foster" the dog (and with a small child in the house this is probably not a good idea), ask your shelter if there are rescuers in your community who can take the dog until the dog's owner is located or he can be re-homed. Hopefully the dog won't have to spend a single day in a shelter.

    I am new to your channel, but think baby Chell is allergic to cats, which may be the cause of her eczema as well. My daughter had terrible eczema as a baby and it took a long time for her to be diagnosed with allergies. It would also explain her fussiness after playing with kitty (or being exposed to any other environmental allergen), as she would be itchy and uncomfortable. Aveeno helps eczema, baby wash and the lotion!

    In the twelve year history of my pups we've had a few run aways. Usually the best way it works out is somebody spots the dog and informs a local shelter/spca/vet and then we would end up calling the same people and hopefully getting connected with the last known sighting, or if the people brought the dog to the vet then we could go physically retrieve them. Hard to say what to do if you think he wasn't lost for long, I might have just called the shelter still and then did what you suggested about tieing to a tree or something. Anyway, glad it worked out! :) losing pups can be scary, they are like family

    Would have taken him to a vets or animal shelter to find out if they have a chip with the owners details. Also that way the owner can ring up local rescue places or vets to find out if they have their dog. Hope that he finds his owner.

    • @shaddowvamp
      @shaddowvamp 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have found dogs before and I normally take them right away but obviously places like that are closer to me than I imagine they are where you are located. Only ones I haven't taken to vets right away where ones with collars with information so I just kept them at mine until I got in touch with the owner. You did good to try and ask around just a shame that he wandered off somewhere but fingers crossed everyone in your area is lovely and has kept an eye out for him or taken him in.
      Lovely filmed vlog again :) Chell is such a cutie!

    My fear about dogs that get loose is that some body takes it and doesn't admit that they found it. And of course if it got run over or never found it's home.

    try to find a facebook group for your nearby area for dogs that are lost and post a screenshoot of him from the video and try to find the owner because if he gets away again and you see him you can call the owers (unless they live like 5 ish houses away) it will make you feel better and the owner better most likly :)

    You should always take the wandering pet to a vet or shelter if you cant find their owner and not just leave them outside. You could have put him in your garage while getting changed and so and then drive around or take him to the vet or shelter. I really hope that someone else or the owner finds him before he gets hurt.
    Im sure if your pets did get lost, you wouldnt appreciate that if people would just leave your pets out there on their own, when they could have catched them before they would have gotten hurt and return them back to home.

    • @LiveEachDay
      @LiveEachDay  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I didn't want to leave him outside but I had to in the moment. Kristen was in the shower, Chell was crying and Penny was going nuts. Plus, I wasn't even dressed yet. It's ok though! Everything worked out for the big guy. He made it to his owner.

    You could put him in the garage with some food, a bed and bowl of water, to keep him safe and warm. Then put up posters and post online. Also try and find him a place with a rescue that could get him neutered etc and find him a new home. Not a dog pound / shelter if possible as they are usually kill shelters :(
