For our family with little kids and dogs, the GX over trail does not offer roof vents. That was a deal breaker. Comparing apples to apples - the LC offers better air ventilation than the OT. If you choose a GX that is not an OT, you lose off road features. For this reason we opted for the LC and very happy with it. One more item - the “larger” screen on the GX contains the digital buttons that are physical/analog in the LC. The GX does not offer larger net space with this in mind.

I have the new first edition and it’s by far the best suv I have had in last 20 years. Great comfort, great power and great look. I have had many Toyotas and Lexus over the last years and this is the best thus far. Mpg is averaging around 22.5 but has had trios as high as 25. Overall both great rides.

Having seen both of these in person, I feel like they just look better in person. Somehow the angles and dimensions seem distorted in photos and videos. Sounds crazy I know!

I picked up my GX 3 days ago and I love everything about it. I prefer driving the GX 550 over the 2024 Mercedes GLE 450. I had 2 Mercedes within 1 year that were lemons and Mercedes agreed to take both cars back. A lot of people are knocking Toyota / Lexus but they’re still better in reliability than all the other car companies.

I’m taking a Toyota break. My ‘22 Tacomas transmission shifted so bad, I sold it back to the dealership at 5k miles. Keeping my ‘20 4Runner, and ‘23 GX. Not getting any of their new stuff, nothing but crazy bad stories. Would get the new Frontier if I go back for another mid size truck. Great reviews. Because honestly my current Toyotas are not perfect.

Just took delivery of my Overtrail. Love it so far. Silver exterior. Decided after I test drove the LC at the Toyota dealership same day. The power train difference is meaningful in real world driving.

How are you liking the GX so far? I just test drove both back to back. I went in wanting the LC and came away thinking the GX was much better overall. I’m trying to get over the mpg difference , but am leaning GX OT now.

    • @CJ-rk5eg
      @CJ-rk5eg 21 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

@ thanks for asking. Loving the OT+ overall. I did not want the plus version because I had too many luxuries that I do not want to pay for. Unfortunately it was the only one on a lot, and I cannot find a standard OT on any dealer lot. The powertrain is very strong. The suspension is variable based upon the driving mode. Some features I do not like include the comfort of the driver seat. It is not as supportive as I had hoped. But the massaging function does help. I hope they improve on that in the future. I have not driven the prior generation GX for a comparison. A couple of first year niggles include the front passenger massaging function needed to be fixed with a simple vacuum tube reconnection. The engine idle is at times inconsistent. And shifting out of park or reverse into drive Feels slightly delayed when applying the gas and lurching forward.
Those are tuning issues, which can be refined
The benefits of the GX over the LC are the powertrain, 10 speed on automatic, EKDSS, larger, rear, cargo volume, and the variable suspension and shock absorber settings. The advantage of the LC over the GX is better gas mileage. Personally I think the GX is better looking. I have not had so many people, including strangers tell me how good-looking the vehicle is and often comparing it to a Land Rover. For me, the land cruiser is a very plain looking vehicle. Let me know if you have any other questions.

The most important difference was not even mentioned in this video. It is that the Land Cruiser has considerable less cargo space due to the hybrid battery location, and a pitiful weight limit for the cargo area. As much as I’ve dreamed of owning a Land Cruiser, that is a deal breaker for me. I’m going with Lexus 550 Overtrail.

Informative video! The gray GX at timestamp 5:57 shows small mud guards as you described. However, the white GX at timestamp 11:37 to 11:47, and the GX at timestamp 24:25, show no mud guards, the same as the online Lexus literature. The GX needs available mud guards, especially those fitted with rock rails rather than running boards. Perhaps GXs beyond a certain serial number have, or will have mud guards.

I can appreciate the comparison, where I have been curious about the Land Cruiser's power delivery. I have driven my GX from Utah to Vancouver, and will do the return trip at the end of the month! So far, everything is great! I took it through a favorite trail in Oregon, where I noticed I need a slightly bigger tire and a small lift to address the approach angle, but everything else is great, so far!
I really enjoyed your livestream and hope you do another, soon!😊

I start the return drive this morn (Thursday, August 29th) after meeting family for breakfast at 9am, and want to be in Utah by the 1st of September, so have enough time to see something along the way.
Next time my GX will have slightly bigger, much better tires and maybe a very small lift, so it will be no comparing lol However, not sure I would endure that drive again lol

11:33 "mainly because the hybrid motor is sandwiched between the engine and transmission"
    the GX is not hybrid.
also, the glass screen on the GX may be "bigger", but the actual usable space is identical, since the bottom half of the GX screen is only climate controls.
lower Start button is way easier to press. You don't have to move your head to press it; you just press it.

I love my 2007 FJ and as much as I hate to say this but if I were buying an off-road vehicle today it would be the INIOS Grenadier. The Grenadier is more modable and just as capable if not more.

Not a fair driving comparison because of the huge tire and wheel differences. For owners looking for the smoothest on- pavement ride the Land Cruiser with its standard 18" all season highway tires beats the Lexus because 18" wheels with all season highway tires are not even available on the GX. The Lexus also subjects the owner to more electronic complication and fustration via it's more extensive electronically, instead of manually, actuated controls.
I will not purchase either one until I am able to evaluate the upcoming 2025 4Runner. My hunch is I will want a lower trim 4Runner with the non-hybrid turbo 4 cyl and 8 speed automatic because that vehicle will not only cost $12,000 less than the cheapest Land Cruiser, but will also be less complicated and expensive to maintain and troubleshoot.
