Just found your channel and I am SO impressed with the depth-of-content, technical detail, and helpful subjective insights. Many other reviewers just seems to recite details that are available online, and add nothing regarding their impressions to the conversation other than “tell me what you think”. Mahalo!
Couldn’t wait and purchased a 2023 4-Runner. My other half won’t let me get the Land Cruiser for a few more years. Can’t wait! Thanks Dave for the video.
Had to pass on these. Bought a 2024 4Runner ORP for a discount below MSRP. Have almost 1,000 miles on it so far and absolutely love it. Feels like a tank. Hoping to keep it for 20 years.
I love my Meteor Shower Tahara built First Edition Land Cruiser 250 Prado. I am glad they are importing the Land Cruiser Prado instead of the Station Wagon series they imported to the US in the past. This is the perfect size and capability for my use.
Great evaluation between the 2 models David. It would be interesting to compare the 2025 Landcruiser to the Armada when you get your hands on it. I drive the sea-to-sky to Whistler 30-35 times a year in the winter so trying to decide which way to go. Cheers!
Great video! Thanks for sharing. A couple of other differences to note with the Canadian First Edition and Premium. The driver attention monitoring system in the steering wheel on the Premium is for the Traffic Jam Assist self driving feature. The Premium package also supports the Digital Key, which is not supported on the Canadian First Edition. The First Edition also has LED tail lights; whereas the Premium doesn't. I'm very disappointed that Toyota Canada split the available top-tier options between the 2 trims and you can't buy one with all of them. The closest option is to buy the Premium and add the off road accessories. Wheels and tires can be swapped out later too according to driver preference.
I am anxiously waiting on my trail dust Land Cruiser Land Cruiser edition. I like that I have the “premium” package but don’t like that they throw on the 20” rims at a $1,200. I’ll gladly sell you my wheel/tire package if you’d like as I’m going to 17 or 18” with mud terrains on mine..
I like the information you provide and that you're Canadian. In getting Toronto. Please do a winter drive video of your FE. No one has done over that over noticed....
Thanks for this great comparison David. I've always wondered, why Toyota and Lexus love to go with the Dunlop Grandtrek tired, even on the LS which is their flagship. Everyone always switches them to Michelin when they wear out but was curious why the factory tires are chosen to be Dunlop even for their higher end vehicles.
I don’t know about the Tahara plant being so perfect either. I just picked up my new 2024 4Runner TRD Pro with a few miles on the odometer and the wheel alignment was terrible. Had to take it in to service immediately and sure enough they confirmed it was badly off and steering wheel was off center. Hate it when a brand new car pulls to the side. Otherwise love the tank.
FYI...my Premium came with the 18 inch.. I didn't' really have a choice as I was on a list and didn't get to choose which size I wanted. I believe in the future the 22inch will be an option.
thank you for the video and your time making it , do you have the diesel version available over there ? , amazing SUV with the diesel engine , i have test one here in the Dominican republic , and let me tell you there's nothing like it .
@@lukesmith981 this is my second 3rd Generation Sequoia. Previously owned a 2023 Platinum. Great vehicles since the third row for me is for once or twice a year usage.
My wife has a 23 sequioa SR5 with TRD off-road and premium package and it looks and runs awesome. I am getting a premium package Land cruiser for myself later this year. They end up being about the same price as I paid 68k for the Sequoia and 70k for the land cruiser. The land cruiser is nicer and more efficient with a little better off-road performance and the sequoia has more room and more power.
@@kingofthesofas I called a couple of Lexus dealers for a GX550 and they wanted between $7,500 and $10K over MSRP. They had a few in stock but no negotiation. It’s okay.
Hi David, I follow your channel for Canadian updates because the Canadian models are a bit different from the US versions, and most TH-cam videos focus on US models. I currently own the 1958 2024 model and am planning to upgrade to the Land Cruiser Premium Package, either the 2025 or 2026 model. I noticed in your first edition video that your meter shows 17L/100km, whereas I’m getting 14L/100km with KO3 275/70/r18 tires. However, in a Facebook group, US owners are claiming they’re getting much better fuel efficiency, around 10L/100km. What are your thoughts on this difference? 14:34
I understand that the 11th VIN number identifies which factory in Japan. It would be awesome to know which factory is 5, 6, 3, etc. I think you could easily make a video covering the VIN system.
I have the same FE here in the US. IMO the LTX suck. We need KO3's to give the FE a real truck feel. The engine sound is different but the engine is wonderful IMO, so responsive with the low end torque. That said the GX550 is a real nice looking vehicle as well, however people are blown away by the appearance of the FE in traildust.

Brilliant video David. The land cruiser is one of the most iconic vehicles ever built.

The station wagon is hideous imo, light duty land cruiser is the move.

Thanks for the information on the tires I was between 18 and 20 you made me feel better on the 20 inch wheels.
Toyota/Lexus number 1. Amazing
always a great review 👍👍🎯

David, I wish the 1958 came with two tone paint.
I imagine it would be a lot more popular, if it did.

My FE also has those dings by the rack, actually just one in my case. Port was somewhere in the SF Bay Area

Did you check underneath? I wonder is there any dent, deep scratch (paint) on the frame.

There hasn't been a diesel Toyota in Canada since the early 80s.
I drove a 2024 First Edition in the same color and for $77K thought it was overpriced. I purchased a 2024 Sequoia Platinum with TRD Off Road package.
To be honest I think the Sequoia looks much better. Would’ve went with it also.

290 First Editions came to Canada, as they only come in two colours was it 145 of each?

The ones we have here in my country 🇳🇬 is Land Cruiser Prado ❤🎉
And it's Turbo Charged...
Greetings. I keep it moving if rear wiper blades are not hidden. Along with the I force max . My choices are becoming limited.
Unfortunately here in South Africa we can not get the first edition anymore cause it was limited.
I understand that the 11th VIN number identifies which factory in Japan. It would be awesome to know which factory is 5, 6, 3, etc. I think you could easily make a video covering the VIN system.
Yes I talked about this before, but 5 is Tahara and K is Hamura plant

I was following it all until to said “quiet Michelins.” Did not know there was such a thing. Are they Canadian only?
How can I tell which plant made my landcruiser 250 land cruiser middle model
It’s on the sticker if you still have it
I just purchased the Asian version called the Prado here in the Philippines. I’m jealous that you have a paddle system and we have no option for it.
The Land Cruiser has been reduced in price by 30,000 RMB in China, which is about 4,000 USD.
Are there any aluminium panels?
shame the 3rd row version is not offered in North America. I would prefer that over the 4 runner limited any day.
你好~請問這藍色的車..色號的多少呢?
I have the TLC Premium and I HATE the cool box. I don't want nor need one. I can put in one after buying but now I have no choice.
Do you wish you went without the premium package or is it worth the sacrifice
Wow ok US FE spec has driver monitoring (and no paddle shift as you said)
👍
How can I know my Land Cruiser from which plant ? VIN letters ?
Window sticker
@@Frankyfromnjwith 5 in the middle is tahara with K is hamura
I hope that the disease of large rims that has reduced comfort and increased tire costs over the last 15 years will come to an end.
Just checked the price in Canada. $83,000.00 plus tax and fees. PASS!
I’ll wait till all the crazies sell their LC’s in 5 years. 😂
Why Land Cruiser vs Land Cruiser? You should compare to Lexus LX 600
He already made it
Why measuring the gaps? I don’t get it.
