You should keep a centre board between the tanks to aid floor sole support, the side line with sealed plastic, fit tanks with water in them and pour slow set foam at each side so the water tanks are supported along the length, then trim and remove, trim down by 2mm and skin with fibreglass

    Nice episode 😀👍
For the water tanks you might consider to create cushions by putting expansion foam into trash bags underneath. After curing you still can remove them and cut into shape.

The only time the gaps under the water tanks will be restricting the bilge flow is when the boat sinks, which it won't, so no worries there. 😉Plenty of cross section, you could empty a bathtub through that in five seconds. I like how she's coming together! 🤗

You can have a screw with all sorts of heads including bolt heads. 👍🏼🧙🏼‍♂️ And you can have coach bolts with or without
a way of driving the head.. slot cross or bolt... Oh the joy of fastners 😂
Just make some wedges under the tank edges standing proud dont bond them in too tight. ..but do rot proof the wedges as they will get condensation and bilge water soaking them.

    • @SailingSeabird

      Hiya Clive.
      Hope you're well.
It would be nice to have an assortment that extensive.
      I've got 2 boxes that's it.
      Thinking of polystyrene wedges fibreglassed..?
I can make them wide, movable and water tight. They have some flex in them. I don't know, yet...

Water tanks, lay alrge sheet of plastic down wrap plastic around tanks.
Pour expanding foam on bottom and place tanks in foam at desired position
You now have a removable custom cradle for your tanks
BUT if you are slow moving, don't do it, you only get one shot to do it right or throw it away

    • @SailingSeabird

Hi guy# I think I would be inclined to put a board upright between the tanks as a means of central support for the floor 🙂 as it looks from the video that the floor will rest on the tanks and that is going to be a high footfall path through the cabin just a thought 🙂

I am a bit worried that the floor above the water tanks will bend when you stand on it, thus putting pressure on the tanks. You could consider supporting the floor by adding a steel T-beam in between the tanks. It only would add a spacing of say 3mm between the tanks, but it would increase rigidity of the floor tremendously.
Keep it up. You two are making amazing progress! Each Saturday morning (here in Japan) I look forward to watching your video.

      But..
We need to test it first.

I really like the steel idea.

O BTW one way to filet the inside corner is to use a small piece of pipe to get a perfect filet ...over the caulking. for when you fiberglass those inside corners. If the hole is 50mm wide semi circle, with proxy edges, or a Fibre sleeve, it won't block. Most of your time your at anchor where it needs to drain and you won't be tacking. Good luck, love Marinas optimism.

As far as the secoflex goes, when you lay glass over it. I don't knowvif your resin will bond to it when it kicks off. Whereas thickened resin would kill ck and bond to each other. Just my opinion, keep up the good work.

The old motor boat looks like it may have been a ex pilot boat or lifeboat..
It sure has been floating in the water a long time ..those muscles have been growing for years to reach that size. 🤔

Tricky with the water tanks , good final plan .
FYI be sure to check the water tightness of the fittings , with all the banging around ! And be sure you can remove the tank to repair the connections !!!! Because you know….
Triax glass is good , harder for sharp bends !
    Cheers Warren

Great episode even without power, hey people these folks need a new Honda inverter generator how about it Honda it would make for some good advertising. Let me know if that works for y’all. Love you guys keep up the good work. I see fair seas in a tropical paradise for Seabird and you.

Hello from the Seattle-Tacoma, WA area in the USA. I have been binge watching your channel for 2 days. First of all, I congratulate you both for taking on such a big project. You are closer than ever now and I am excited for your sea journey to start. I have watched a channel of a young couple who left Wales and are creating a homestead Portugal. Marina, you look so much like Carissa that I had to do a double take as I was sure she was you or you had a twin in Portugal. For fun, look up their channel: Frankie off grid. Her partner is Iwan. See if you don't agree, you both have features that are very similar. I told Carissa to look you up on your channel too. Keep up the good work on Seabird. I can't wait to see her set sail. Best wishes. I have 2 friends who's birthdays are October 18th and 19th, so now I know of 3 people who's birthdays are in sequence.

Your doing a great job. Having restored a boat and had to remove old Sikaflex have no fear your fairing joints should be bomb proof with the matting and resin over it. We had steel and embedded all the deck fittings and hatched with Sika. We are still in contact with the couple we sold the boat to and not a leak 17 years later after multiple trips in Bass Strait, New Zealand, Japan and on to Alaska this season.
Looking forward to watching your coming adventures as you restoration continues.
